Chapter 2555 Shell
However...
It was strange. Those trained in necromancy were surprisingly adept at using sacred study techniques.
Oddly enough, their effectiveness was remarkable, easily dismantling numerous vengeful spirits.
It all felt a bit off.
Especially that holy weapon—a great sword.
Normal people might not recognize it, but the high-ranking members of the necromancy council, each with centuries of life experience, had sharp eyes. They quickly identified the great sword in Fang Heng''s hands.
Judging by its effects, it was undoubtedly a holy weapon.
The expressions of the gathered individuals varied, but they all tacitly chose to remain silent.
After all, Fang Heng was one of their own in the undead faction.
What did it matter if he wielded a high-tier artifact from the Holy Court?
Wasn''t that a testament to their faction''s strength?
Of course, to avoidplications, they wouldn''t bring it up.
For all intents and purposes, they would act as if they hadn''t seen it.
Meanwhile, Shi Lipeng had been watching Fang Heng''s actions throughout the event and finally couldn''t hold back any longer. He whispered, "Master, Fang Heng possesses sacred study abilities, and they seem to be quite advanced. Aren''t necromancy and sacred study fundamentally opposed? Can one truly achieve such a terrifying level of enhancement in both?"
"Indeed, it''s very difficult, but theoretically, it can be done," the instructor replied, nodding with a hint of admiration in his eyes as he looked at Fang Heng. "However, he must pay a far greater price, tenfold or even a hundredfoldpared to ordinary people."
"Is that so?"
Shi Lipeng looked at Fang Heng on the screen, feeling a surge of envy in his heart.
When would he be someone even the necromancy council''s instructors admired?
"President!"
In the council hall, most people''s attention was fixed on the projection of Fang Heng when someone hurriedly approached Georgi, whispering something.
Georgi turned and asked, "What is it?"
"We''ve justpleted a portion of the trantion of the ancient texts from Empress Persephone''s dynasty. Through these texts, we''ve managed to revise and correct some of the missing phrases regarding the Death Realm established by Empress Persephone..."
"We discovered that some of the information we previously tranted about Empress Persephone''s mausoleum was incorrect, with significant misinterpretations."
Upon hearing this, the senior members of the undead council turned their gazes toward them.
Previously, due to the scant and iplete written records obtained from the mausoleum, coupled with theirck of understanding of the undeadnguage from Empress Persephone''s era, the initial trantion work had been exceedingly slow and fraught with guesswork, resulting in low uracy.
Now, with an entire volume of texts to reference, many unclear phrases and descriptions could be rified, and the trantion uracy improved rapidly.
Past errors could now be corrected.
Georgi nodded and inquired, "What specific errors have we identified?"
"Indeed, arge portion of the prayer at the entrance of Empress Persephone''s mausoleum was originally tranted as a description of her life''s achievements and a special curse directed at invaders."
"However, with the new texts, we believe this interpretation may not be entirely urate. Aside from documenting some of Empress Persephone''s aplishments, the primary purpose of the mausoleum seems to have been for a selection process she personally established."
"A selection process?" Georgi frowned, asking, "Selection for what?"
"Let me borate," a gray-haired instructor from the undead council interjected, nodding gravely. "If our revised trantion holds true, it appears to be a selection for a new body necessary for Empress Persephone''s resurrection."
At this revtion, everyone''s expressions changed in unison.
The resurrection of the Empress!
...
Fang Heng wielded the great holy sword, leading Li Shaoqiang deeper into the mausoleum.
Vengeful spirits surged from all directions, but the rippling effects of the holy sword shattered them effortlessly.
As they pressed on, a massive bronze door gradually came into view ahead.
The rate at which the vengeful spirits materialized began to diminish.
Before them, two ancient bronze doors appeared at the end of the passage.
"Ka ka ka..." n/?/vel/b//in dot c//om
It seemed that the doors sensed their approach, slowly creaking open inward.
The three exchanged nces.
"Let''s go! We need to see what''s inside!"
Fang Heng dered, stepping boldly into the hall.
"Bang!!!"
Once they entered, the heavy metal doors thundered shut behind them, sealing off the wailing vengeful spirits outside.
Fang Heng stowed the great holy sword, reverting to his Death God form, and cautiously surveyed his surroundings.
They stood in a circr Great Hall.
Death knights!
Fang Heng''s heart raced as he shifted his gaze to the corners of the hall.
Four towering death knight sculptures were positioned in each corner of the grand hall, standing rigidly.
"Ka ka, ka ka ka..."
Before Fang Heng and hispanions could further explore, the massive stone began to tremble violently.
Suddenly, shards of rock fell away from one of the death knights in the corner, and its dark armor and features regained vitality, reviving before their eyes.
"Wee to your arrival, challengers who came to participate in the trial of Empress Persephone."
"I sense your courage, but mere bravery is not enough to pass this ce."
"Whoosh!!"
With a swift motion, the death knight drew a heavy sword and pointed it toward Fang Heng and hispanions.
"Let''s begin. Defeat me, and as a mark of respect for your courage, I will allow you to strike first."
Fang Heng and hispanions exchanged nces.
A trial?
It seemed that they would need to defeat the death knight to progress.
A game hint appeared in their vision.
[Hint: The yer''s current mission-Empress''s Trial mission target has changed. Please defeat the death knight to gain its recognition.]
[Hint: Current mission can bepleted additionally.]
Seeing this, Li Shaoqiang and Tan Shuo instinctively took a half step back.
What were they supposed to do now?
They had entered the undead council before Fang Heng and had recently immersed themselves in knowledge about the death realm and Empress Persephone''s mausoleum.
It was said that the ruler of the death realm, Empress Persephone, manded eight death knights.
These death knights were adept atbat and had reached a god-level strength far beyond what they could handle.
Fang Heng''s expression was equally grave.
Thest time he encountered a death knight, he hadn''t fought it directly; he had relied on the willpower of the demonic seed in the sea of consciousness to erase the death knight''s will.
This time...
"What''s wrong? Are you not going to make a move? Then..."
The death knight began to step forward, its towering three-meter frame exuding an immense sense of pressure.
