Preface

Tuesday, a day often overlooked, neither the best nor the worst. Typically, Tuesdays fade into the background, but April 3rd was different—etched into my memory forever. It was a day that altered not just my life, but my family''s and, ultimately, the world’s course.

The morning began like any other. I woke at 5:30 to rouse my oldest son, still struggling at 16 to embrace the morning. Each day, I reminded him of the importance of responsibility. By 6:00, he was off to catch the bus, leaving me to steal a few more moments of sleep until 7:00, when I would wake with my wife to prepare our other two children for school.

My 15-year-old son could manage on his own, but I still needed to drive my 13-year-old daughter, so I got up regardless. After helping them out the door, I dropped her off at school and returned home, ready to start my workday. I was fortunate to work from home—a common setup in the IT world. Why sit in an office all day when you could be productive from your own space? Companies had quickly realized they could cut costs by allowing certain employees to work remotely.

I had just wrapped up my second call of the day when everything changed.*

Greetings human from Earth. Rejoice for today is the first day of your future. Your universe has been selected as the next universe to welcome me, the Great System.

Greetings, Earth dweller! Rejoice, for today marks the beginning of your extraordinary future. Your universe has been chosen as the next to welcome me, the Great System. Among the countless intelligent beings across your cosmos, you have been randomly selected as the sole test subject for this initiative.

You will have six months to prepare before being transported to a randomly selected universe that is already enabled with the System for training and monitoring. You will remain there until your universe is ready for activation, which is anticipated to take approximately 412 of your Earth years. If you are still among the living when that time comes, you will return to guide your people in discovering the wonders of a System-enabled universe.
