As Carmen''s excitement red up upon being notified of something suspicious, Xu Feng was rather speechless.
No wonder why she was called the demoness.
Hidden deep inside her emotions… was a boiling mix of emotions that sought thrills and actions.
"I guess life has not been kind to you." Xu Feng murmured, having understood such emotion could only ur when life had been harsh to one''s person.
After all, he was once a thrill-seeking person who feared no death.
It was only after the countless achievements he had made and slowly rose to the top did he learned to control his emotions and mend his ways. The resentment he held for his so-called parents also diluted with the passing of time.
Meanwhile, Carmen subtly heard him talking but couldn''t quite catch it. Thus, she asked softly, "Eh, what did you just say?"
"Nothing, I just said we should advance forward to search for the source." Xu Feng smiled, opting to lie.
Sure enough, when he lied, people really did believe him without any questioning.
"Ah, then let''s hurry up, Guild Leader," Carmen eximed, seemingly in a rush for time.
Shortly after, the duo went ahead, and through the numerous walking, they finally arrived at the end of the cave.
However, to their dismay, the dripping sound of water seemed to have stopped and there were nothing else but some cave walls at the front.
"It''s really an empty cave huh." Xu Feng scratched his head, hoping to find some clues. He hoped there would be some sort of hidden mechanism and runes that were discreetly concealed.
s, no matter how much he searched, even going as far as using some skills in an attempt to trigger something unexpected.
It all ended up with one result: nothing.
Despite the result, Xu Feng refused to believe there was truly nothing. After all, the dripping water sound had been resounding throughout the cave walls.
How could it suddenly disappear the moment they arrived here?
Something was not adding up.
At this moment, the Elementalists and the Abyssal Phantom had long been unsummoned. Both of them found it pointless to resummon them when there was no danger around.
"Should we return now, Guild Leader?" Carmen asked, finding it to be pointless to continue to remain here.
Xu Feng pondered for a moment before nodding in agreement.
Although it was already expected they might not find anything, anticipating it and experiencing it were two different things.
''What did I miss?'' Xu Feng wondered silently, starting to think that he might have missed something.
Just as Xu Feng was ready to turn around and leave, Carmen suddenly stepped on a floor and an intense vibration reverberated throughout their environment.
"What the—" Startled, Xu Feng turned to her, but before he could continue, the two of them seemed to have fallen into the depth of an abyss.
They were free-falling, and a wave of shockwaves hit him and Carmen as well, knocking the two out.
Unconscious, the two fell for an unimaginable amount of time.
By the time Xu Feng regained consciousness, he felt a pang of paining from his head, causing him to clench it tightly.
"Ugh," he grunted in grimace. "What the hell happened?"
As he attempted to gain rity of the situation, he noticed Carmen lying on the ground, her eyes shut tightly.
Without hesitation, Xu Feng ignored the pain in his head and rushed toward her.
He proceeded to open his guild function and checked on Carmen''s status.
Incapacitated!
rmed, Xu Feng never expected to see the word incapacitated. This meant that Carmen was in an unconscious state by a mysterious force, unable to be awakened.
The worst part of this was that even killing her and reviving her would not change her condition. She could only wake up through her own sheer will.
Finding the problem very tricky, Xu Feng tried to rack his brain toe up with a solution. He believed he had the incapacitated status too, but was able to awaken quite early due to the baptism effect.
However, Carmen never received any baptism, so the chance of her waking up soon was very unlikely.
Yet right when he came to this thought process, he suddenly heard a muffled sound.
Startled, Xu Feng returned his attention to Carmen, who had subtly woken up, seemingly normal.
"Do you feel any abnormality or pain anywhere?" Xu Feng asked in a worrisome tone.
"Pain? Abnormality?" Carmen raised an eyebrow, clearly confused by his question.
"I feel normal." She continued, her innocent eyes staring at him.
"You feel normal?" This time, Xu Feng was truly at a loss. He received a pang of headache, but she waspletely fine.
Who was the actual person that got baptized?
"Anyway, where are we?" Carmen slowly got up and nced at her surroundings.
To her surprise, she felt as if she was in a gxy, being surrounded by many glittering stars. As she looked down at her feet, there was a purplish transparent surface, and she was somehow standing on top of it.
She was slowly mesmerized by the design of this new ce.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng finally stopped his worries once he saw she was still the same old Carmen. Upon hearing her question, he took a nce at the surroundings that he had neglected earlier because of her condition.
"If I''m not wrong, then we should be on a separate dimension ne." Xu Feng knitted his brows andmented. "But there should be a portal somewhere that would bring us to a specific location."
"Eh, this is the so-called separate dimension ne?" Carmen gasped in shock. "How did we end up here from the empty cave?"
"That was going to be my question for you." Xu Feng twitched his mouth. "How did you manage to trigger something and bring us here?"
Silently pondering, Carmen suddenly recalled something and retrieved a small card from her inventory.
"Maybe it''s because of this card that Librarian Griselda gave me."
Xu Feng''s eyes were glued on the card and stared at Carmen with a dazed expression. ''A dimension card… she''s truly my lucky charm.''
