Agnis felt a small tremor. It was strange because the river water didn’t seem to be affected. He got nauseous and opened the dimensional filter.
He saw a tear in the sky that became larger and larger.
Holy shit that’s not good! He said as he jumped on the dimensional fabric and started to fix it.
But the tear kept getting bigger and bigger. He realized that he knew how to fix this but not how to stop these tears from becoming bigger. Agnis blasted the tear with foxfire and other types of fire he had learned over the years but nothing worked. It got bigger and bigger. Agnis stared into the void. It looked as if something big was approaching.
What in Hourai’s name is that?
Agnis shot foxfires at it but it wasn’t slowing down. Is it a monster? What is this? It got closer and Agnis recognized what it was.
What does this mean… is another dimension crashing into ours? This can’t be good.
Agnis went into his nine-tailed spirit fox mode and tried to reverse time on it but it wasn’t receptive. Does this go beyond time? Nothing spatial-related worked either
Why is my race’s role so stupidly difficult?!
Agnis realized that throwing a tantrum would not help his situation. He managed to nudge the impending dimension to the side. If a collision is inevitable then the impact can be lessened this way.
And then it happened. As if something crashed into the planet. Everything was subjected to this violent shockwave. Agnis had prepared himself and his tails were holding on to a chain of a skill named Dimensional Anchor. The planet, no, the dimension shook violently for 23 minutes.
It caused earthquakes, the sea went wild, and freak winds started to blow everywhere. Everything got rattled. The sound of glass shattering and crumbling could be heard constantly, similar to how it sounds when illusion layers break.
Did that dimension merge with ours?
Agnis inspected his surroundings. He noticed some species that he had never seen before, settlements that had never been there before
The more Agnis got aware of his surroundings the more he realized that Kaledon, the continent he had been living on for many years had drastically changed in a blink of an eye.
He realized that his problems had multiplied by an unknown factor.
How could this have happened? Where did I go wrong?
Agnis thought back on how it all begun. It began in Hourai, his hometown.

It was the year 2507 on the Hourai calendar and a beautiful, normal day in Nadila, the capital city of the Hourai empire, the phoenixes were singing, the no-winged dragons were drifting peacefully next to the clouds, the sylphs were dancing and a stampede of cows was running through the market.
Okay, maybe the day wasn''t so normal after all. Three brats had been spotted, riding on these cows. Agnis, a kid with silver hair and a fox tail, Raishin a kid with blond spiky hair and a tiger tail, and Gregory, a kid with black hair in a braid and a cat tail. They were riding the cows and seem to be having fun. That couldn''t be said of the people on the market, but the market wasn''t the destination of these troublemakers, the stampede rushed through and left for the city gate. On the way out some of the brats grabbed some fruit and spices from some stalls. Three figures were running behind the stampede trying to catch up. A kid of about 9 years old with brown hair and bear ears, another one was a beautiful woman with red hair in a gold-orange feathery dress and the other woman was clothed in a casual shirt with a palm tree print with short pants, sunshades, and slippers on, this woman had blonde spiky hair and she had a tiger tail.
The kids were followed by their friend Ted Barrington, who was supposed to keep an eye on them, Raishin’s sister Tallys Torai, and Agnis’ sister Yuna Hourai. They were talking about how the three of them always stirred up trouble. The biggest troublemaker was Agnis Hourai, the son of the empress Edea Hourai. Edea Hourai is a rare hybrid and so is Agnis. Agnis’ 2 elder sisters don’t share their trait. Half-phoenix and a half nine-tailed spirit foxes are quite rare even here in Hourai where the mythical and legendary creatures gather.
Gregory Sheru is a member of the three-tailed shadowcats and his mother, Nadila Sheru is Edea’s righthand. Raishin Torai is a six-tailed lightning tiger and his mother Felicia Torai is Edea’s good friend. They were chasing the troublemakers while discussing Agnis’ strange ice element. It didn’t adhere to how water magic normally behaves.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Where are they?” Yuna looked around as she had lost the troublemakers. Their chase had brought them outside the capital city.
“Is it your brother’s illusions?” Tallys asked as she looked around.
“I don’t think so.” Yuna was angry but also worried. Her little brother always did this; getting himself into trouble.
Meanwhile the troublemakers ended up in a strange underwater cave, which somehow made them unable to use mana without getting nauseous. Agnis discovered a strange yet new type of energy in this cave and managed to manipulate this to get out. The troublemakers appeared 20 minutes later, riding a waterspout from deep under the ground. Yuna scolded them. The troublemakers tried to escape but their mothers came to retrieve them. Yuna, Ted and Tally’s were relieved as the troublemakers got transported to the palace. They would get their scolding and punishment there.
Agnis, Raishin and Greg got reprimanded but not severely. Edea, the empress, is a big fan of adventures. She was interested in knowing what interesting events they have been through. Edea is the empress but not by choice. How she would want to go on adventures too but she had duties to attend to. Her advisors had other plans, however. She gave her son the punishment to peel 2000 potatoes. Her son shares her hate for peeling potatoes. This was actually her task since her head advisor, who was her uncle, had punished her for slacking off. She had already peeled 8000 potatoes herself but she was running out of time because an important investigation came up. Agnis didn’t like this but he had no choice.
Peeling potatoes wasn’t uncommon for Agnis. He had mastered short swords and knives and used his agility to peel them. All to make it more efficient. Edea was proud of him but sincerely wished to ban potatoes from Hourai but her uncle thought that was a stupid reason to ban potatoes.
She made sure that the troublemakers would unlock their Soul container before they would have to sit out their punishment. Blue ghost truffles and red sky mangoes would fill Agnis’ soul container. It would allow for them to get multiple lives. For Gregory these were liquid shadow potatoes and for Raishin these were dynamo beans.
Agnis got sent to peel potatoes after unlocking the soul container.

I hate potatoes…
He put his tails to use and successfully peeled the potatoes in record time. He was just a brat and had only unlocked 4 of the 9 tails. These would come with age. Rest was something he needed after this severe punishment but he would soon learn that things don’t go well for long around him. His Elgards eyes, which could see the flow of energy, mana, and multiple other things, picked up something concerning. The capital was under attack!
His sisters picked him up for an evacuation. It was unusual for the city to be under attack it had a strong barrier and was inside a separate dimensional space. Enemies shouldn’t be able to reach here. Moreover, Agnis’ mother and her 2 best friends are currently not in the city. Was this all planned?
Agnis'' eldest sister, Xelia Hourai, went to help defend the city while Yuna would help in evacuating Agnis, Raishin, Gregory, and Ted.
“Come on brats! It’s time to go to the shelter!” Yuna led the evacuation but something was off. It was as if they were also the target.
“Ted! I will keep these enemies busy! Bring Agnis, Raishin and Greg to the shelter!”
Ok!
Ted nodded his head as he was about to take Gregory, Agnis and Raishin with him.
Wait I see enemies approaching! There are 3 of them! Agnis looked northwest
What? An ambush? Raishin looked around.
Yuna looked at where Agnis was pointing.
“Silly brother, those are Giana, Noelle and Yvonne. They’re with us. Take them with you too.” Yuna put an illusion on Agnis to turn his silver hair, black.
She flew up and showed her foes why she was called ‘Boiling Point Yuna’ She was a phoenix specializing in fire and water magic. She would create explosions. She might have also called that because of her short temper.
Come on! Lead the way, Ted!
It didn’t take long before more enemies appeared.
“Whoa look here! These kids will earn quite a lot of money on the slave market!”
Ugh slave traders. Just our luck. Ted furrowed his brow and got ready for a fight.
“We just need the kids of the ‘Calamity Trio’ and we will sell the rest. These chicks will sell for quite a bit.”
A fight broke out. A fight these kids couldn’t win. The three girls managed to escape. There was no way they could win so they went for damage mitigation.
Agnis, Greg and Ted had decided that the chicks would have a worse fate than they would have if they got caught by the slave traders. Agnis made sure that the slave traders couldn''t get to them by locking the girls into a cave with his ice that is nearly impossible to break. He tried to make the best of the solution with his illusions but that was all he could do. None of them stood a chance since they all were just 7 years old with Ted being the oldest at 9 years old.
Reality was brutal and they got knocked out and brought to the ‘Human World’ the part of the dimension that hosts the majority of the races, of which humans are the most common. That wasn''t the worst part. Their home, Hourai disappeared into nothingness after they got brought to the ‘Human World''.
They were just brats. They had led a carefree life until now but suddenly everything was gone. Their family, their friends, and their home. The only thing they picked up from all this was a strange monkey with 8 tails that had attacked their home. It didn''t take long for the 4 to get sold off as slaves. They were lucky. The 4 people who bought them originated from the same town, Boshi Town. Was this coincidence or fate at work? Agnis wondered what would happen to them. He wanted to go home.
Agnis had been sold off to a blacksmith. Raishin to a hunter, Greg to an alchemist and Ted to a martial artist. Is there any way they can spin this around?
They approached Boshi Town, a town surrounded by a strange pink barrier. This would be their home until they would escape. They have to escape. They know nothing about the ‘Human World’ and they don’t belong here. They decided to hide their identity and pose as humans. They would be categorized as ‘Beast kin’ down here but every beast kin can hide their ears and tails and so could they. Beast kin don''t always get treated nicely in the ''Human World'', which was one of the few things they did know.
This would be their life for now they were planning to escape but they were aware that they were weak and ignorant. While living this new lifestyle and still making plans to escape, five years passed.
