Vol 3 Ch 48: What it means to be a Sarian god

I woke up and I noticed that Raishin and Greg were passed out next to me. We were yet again in a green barrier. Is this a déjà vu? Did we get screwed over by a time loop again?

Zack was out cold and he was imprisoned in some sort of water bubble. Tomato goddess has seen better days and she was still fighting. Noobgod was also imprisoned in some nature themed cage. It was Della and Bellia against Wyndur and Tomato goddess.

Are they still not defeated? My internal clock tells me that I fell asleep 6 hours ago. It was night time by now. I guess it was na?ve to think I could knock all of them out. Bellia and Della seemed quite healthy so at least I didn’t do lasting damage to my ‘allies’...

Della and Bellia’s presence seemed to have made sure that the battlefield didn’t look like a wasteland but a pleasant meadow with a lake, a very big lake. I could see that Tomato goddess was weakening.

Della and Bellia were getting blasted to bits by various light attacks. Tomato goddess even used that attack where she made a big version of herself made out of light and obliterated Della and Bellia as they got hit. But Della and Bellia always reformed. Della reformed out of foam and Bellia grew out of a nearby tree. Is that why she looks so young? And is she a fruit? Should I call her Fruit Goddess?

They did return the favor, Tomato Goddess and Wyndur also got blown to bits and pieces and they reformed like it was nothing. Wyndur seemed to just regenerate. How boring. Della sent the ocean after them, Bellia the forests and jungle that she was growing. Della’s water made them grow extremely fast. This is a combo of deities that you don’t want to fight against.

Both of them could also heal while it didn’t seem their opponents had that advantage. It looks like the battle will end soon at this rate.

    <hr>

I was wrong. I woke up the next day. They were still fighting. Tomato goddess looked different. Her hair was gold now and she was almost 3 times as big. Wyndur also looked different and was 3 times as big.

Meanwhile Della was a giant mermaid now and was bringing forth tidal waves whenever she moved. Bellia… looked like a normal sized adult now. Is Bellia the youngest of the Sarian gods? Anyways the meadow with a lake was now a gigantic jungle with trees as tall as 50 m. Rushing between those trees were 30m tall tidal waves.

This fight was on a scale to where I wonder how my mom had killed something like this. and that we were cocky thinking we might have a shot at dealing with them.

I watched this spectacle wondering how our contribution was significant in any kind.

This is quite the spectacle, eh? Makes us feel small.

Yeah, we have a long way to go to beat that.

Tomato goddess got impaled by an enormous vine and it looked like life energy got sucked out of her. I activated my Elgards eyes. Whoa I can’t see much. Nothing that might be useful in battle could be seen. Either I’m too weak or I need to get better at using Elgards eyes. Probably both. I’m sure that even if I could see what is going on here, I would stand no chance. Tomato goddess was holding her own even though she was at a disadvantage and losing. I guess her pride didn’t allow her to back off and flee.

I can’t help to think… Azu didn’t lose to that… she had to be sealed away…

    Yeah, it’s crazy…

What phase do you think they’re in?

    I think phase 4 or 5.

Why don’t they just start out with their strongest form?

Arrogance, and to be honest they don’t need that phase to kick our asses. I think they’re more afraid of attracting attention of other deities by doing so and get stuck in large and long fights like these.

What are the other gods doing actually?

They must be busy or watching this.

How many of them do you think are like Bellia and Della?

I don’t know, it purely depends on their personality I suppose. Walter isn''t so bad; he just wants us to help kill that bitch and probably wipe out magic. Ignore wiping out magic and he is quite reasonable. Zarrazax acts more like the bitch’s pet so that is a package deal.

But that’s not important! That fishbowl attack of yours was so cool! Painful but cool! I think I lost several lives getting zapped by that.

Yeah same, how did you manage to create that?

Fishbowl attack? Oh [Hsien], just to commemorate my training in the ocean. It is quite difficult and not very ally friendly. I can only make sure you guys don’t get hit by the slow and won’t get targeted by the marine animals. If you do get too close to them, they will fuck you up so I’m glad you didn’t do anything stupid Raishin!

    Hehe! It was easy!

You were too busy slapping Walter around though…

So that silver lightning, is it because of your [Tail Dynamo]?

Dunno, it did something unexpected and I don’t know the details of it. All I know that using lightning with Dragonvein is easier than with magic.

Greg poked Raishin with his elbow.

Seems like you might have to learn Dragonvein.

Ugh, I still don’t understand how it works, it sounds way too difficult!

I think you could skip everything and just learn how to use [Tail Dynamo] with Dragonvein. You’re my best friend but asking me to teach you Dragonvein is just too much… I know we’re both immortals but that doesn’t mean we should spend 100 years on teaching you stuff…

Ha! Na?ve of you to assume that it will take me just 100 years!

Right… So, what do we do now? Leaving this barrier is a bad idea.

    Why is that?

Greg pointed at tomato goddess.  That bitch became extra fixated on you after she found out that you’re a silver fox. This barrier makes us ‘One with nature’ so we’re more or less invisible to her. Raishin and I could escape but unless you can bring us somewhere with a dimensional teleport, she will notice when we leave this barrier.

    Does [Shadow Meld] work?

Bellia was specific in mentioning dimensional teleports so I assume that that doesn’t work.

So, we stay here until those 2 kick Tomato goddess’ ass?

Unless you want to fight her again, yeah…

I sat back down and took food out of my dimensional pocket. I was starving and I had passed out before I could eat.  Using [Silver Torrent] makes me extremely hungry by the way so don’t mind me.

We started to eat because there was nothing else to do. There was a big battle going on behind us but there is nothing we can do about it.

So how long do you think this battle is going to take?

I have no idea. These gods don’t seem to be pushing for a decisive outcome.

I agreed with Greg but I was too busy stuffing my face. It looks like they weren’t fighting to win which was strange to me. They did have things that looked like ultimate skills but nothing seemed to have the intent of finishing this fight.

Maybe it’s because Della and Bellia are not as belligerent and are trying to protect the environment. But even Tomato goddess and Wyndur seemed to have no intent on destroying their opponents.

Is this why they need our help? Are gods unable to tip the scales? Are we going to be stuck here? I finished a large lasagna dish I had swiped years ago. I love being a 9t and preserving food forever in my dimensional pocket.

We talked about our recent adventures. We are fully responsible for this situation but we were in a debate on if we should continue going for dungeons. All of us agreed that we got unlucky. Greg was concerned about the risks we would take from continuing but he also was interested in their historical value and other nerd things. Raishin loved the adventure but we might have to avoid dungeons that set off his intuition.

I think that although I like these dungeons, we might have to just get to the treasure forcefully, obliterating everything, it will end up in no adventures, no historical value stuff, just the treasure. It is not that I disagree with Greg or Raishin but in cases like this, the adventure and historical value are not worth it. Zack had blown up the dungeon so there was nothing left.

We kept arguing till the evening and just decided to continue what we would normally do.

    They are still fighting…

I am starting to wonder something about your role Agnis. Your race is a glass cannon and very disruptive.  He pointed at the battle between the gods.

If you would join in with a good ambush or sneak attack in this battle, you will tip the balance. If you were more experienced you might be able to get a kill in.

This reminds me of some of some fights I have seen before. An endless stalemate. If every fight between gods is like this I can understand that they want to avoid fighting others.

It looks cool at the start but gets boring super-fast.

Greg, these Sarian gods, they are not the only group of gods, right?

As far as I know there are way more yes.

    Wait there’s more of them?

These should be one of the strongest if not the strongest group of gods.

So at least no other god from another group will interfere.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Why is that? They can’t die right?

Personally, I wouldn’t want to jump into this for no reason.

Same here. Also, while the Sarian gods might be too strong for us, we might be able to deal with other types of gods.

Yeah, any weaker light-based god would get bodied by you or Raishin.

And any god that doesn’t have an earth, light, or wind weakness would either die by high blood pressure or would get killed off by you.

Yeah, I don’t think any of these gods will forgive me…

So, do we drop a nuke on them and run? I don’t want to stay here for the rest of my life.

    Wait! Something is approaching!

    Huh, I don’t see anything!

You’re looking in the wrong direction, over there!  I looked at where Greg was pointing and I saw the  Floating Fire Lotus vixens approach.

    Ooh! They’re coming to help!

    They seem a bit… different.

They seem to be ready to go to war.

What are those elves doing here though?

    The elves are here too?

Hmm this might be a problem.

They are late though! We could have used their help yesterday!

While that is true, jumping into a fight against gods is generally a bad idea, it certainly would need preparation. I’m surprised they even came.

They treated you as family, why wouldn’t they come?

I appreciate it but it’s against gods. It doesn’t seem like they came with Neia or Norya. I don’t know if they can kill that bitch.

You can’t be this stupid right?

    Whud?

They are heading toward us, not the fight.

Yeah, they are not here to fight, they are here to save us.

Huh, why though? And what about those elves?

It seems they are communicating with Bellia.

Look Agnis you need to work on your ability to connect with other people. They see you as family, and that means something to them, enough to go to war against gods. Would you go to war against these gods if they had nuked the Floating Lotus?

    Of course!

Well, there you have it. The elves surprise me though.

I linked Greg and Raishin up with my vision. The elves got empowered by Bellia. They also held something that looked familiar.

Agnis that thing… it gives a similar energy as that thing you had sealed away in the desert.

Yeah, that’s a Dimsha, wait it was still leaking energy? I thought I had completely fixed it.

It was a minor issue, you fixed 99% of the leak, and I just fixed the last percent. But an item that can interfere with the world. This might be the push they need to finally win. I wonder what it does.

I got up.  Let’s find out! It’s time for round 3!

Is that a good idea? And I’m sure those women over there have a different plan.

They were getting close. I’m sure they have linked up with each other. I have never had the chance to have a multi-linked Elgards eye but that sounds overpowered as hell. It didn’t take long for a gaze to lock on to me. And 15 other gazes followed. Well, isn’t this uncomfortable? Is this how my opponents feel?

They gathered around but had no idea how to tackle the barrier.

I inspected it.  Oh, it’s made out of nature energy, I shouldn’t be surprised but it still surprises me how this isn’t actually magic but still acts like it.

Hmm, this operates on different rules, not sure if we can break through this.

Why don’t we just step out of it?

Raishin just walked out of it.

    It seems we were overthinking…

We stepped out of the barrier and I felt tomato goddess lock on to me immediately.

“You are still alive! I’m so glad!” We got embraced by the skulk of vixens.

I’m glad that you’re all here but we have a problem!

Tomato goddess had sent a determined clone over to us. Medea, Aylena and 5 others huddled their tails together and created a dimensional portal and sent the tomato goddess clone to who knows where.

    Wait that’s it?

“That’s it. For now, now let’s go! Mother had installed a specific kind of magic into the Floating Lotus for cases like this!” Medea grabbed my hand and wanted to pull me to come with them.

Wait! I have an idea! You are all linked up with Elgards eyes, right? If I do that greeting thingy and tell you about what happened all of you will know right?

“It’s called Ourasyn, but yeah it’s used for other things besides introductions.” Medea and I did the Ourasyn and could instantly convey what we went through and my plan of being disruptive to help Bellia and Della. I noticed that everyone liked my plan. I saw a lot of malicious smiles.

Another tomato clone came at us and she sent out some light attacks before she got sucked up in a dimensional portal and got sent to who knows where. They also started swapping the opposing gods around to get hit by more attacks.

Look, Greg! They all act similarly to Agnis!

I just think it’s just a racial trait.

I had shared the magic circle of [Meteor] with my fellow 9t and all of us were preparing to drop these. I’m sure Della and Bellia will be fine. The elves might have a problem though but Bellia will fix that for us, I think.

    Ehhm what about those elves?

“What about them?” Aylana seemed to be thinking what I was thinking.

Medea looked at Bellia.“Elves are close with the goddess Bellia; they should be fine. I think.”

I decided to be a nice 9t and I sent a clone to Della and Bellia to warn them that they might get hit by 17 [Meteors] if they weren’t careful. It got obliterated because of all the random attacks flying out. I had to send 10 more and 2 made it to their destination.

One of my cousins seemed to have noticed the possible dangers of going out there. “At least we now know that jumping in there might not be the best idea. It would have been cool to try though!”

Most of the other vixens agreed and so did I.

Greg was rubbing his head.  So why is your race not extinct yet?

    Because we’re overpowered!

And how has being overpowered helped you so far?

    Pass!

Bellia was against this idea but the [Meteors] were already cast. Della was cool with it and gave some cool looking water bubbles to the elves and Bellia. I wanted to steal this but the runic structure was unnecessarily long and complex. I will have to archive this and mess with this later on.

Wait… is it possible that gods suck at magic?

It drew the attention of Greg, Raishin and half of the vixens. The others were watching how [Meteors] were reshaping the landscape yet again. We were at quite a distance but the shockwaves could be felt. I’m sure they felt that in the capital of Aquini Kingdom. It just feels like multiple earthquakes.

    What do you mean Agnis?

Look at this magic circle of those bubbles Della used.  I showed it but nobody knew what I was talking about because nobody had studied magic runes.

Right, this is going to be a bit sloppy but this is only a demonstration, follow me through my eyes Greg. I will show you girls later with Ourasyn.

I didn’t need to dynamically change this magic circle, I wanted to keep it the same. What I did was kick out redundancies that cluttered up the magic circle which made them more mana efficient. Normally I need to put in effort to make skills more mana efficient but all this clutter made it extremely hard for mana to flow properly through the whole magic circle.

It was a bit similar to Raishin’s skills. He just brute forces the effects with energy. If he made his circles more efficient, he would get more bang for his buck. Greg seemed to partially understand it.

I used Ourasyn with Medea again and they could get it better because this form of communication is extremely efficient. It still didn’t explain everything to them but they knew what I meant.

If that’s the case, why didn’t you notices this before when you were interrupting their skills?

Ehh interrupting is more or less a reflex to me now, If I recognize a pattern that makes the whole circle work then I just mess with it on reflex.

    You are scary…

I like my race because they didn’t ask me questions. Ourasyn is just so overpowered. I wish my mom had thought me this, but I guess this only works with 9t so it’s not like that would have made a difference.

Hey Greg, does your race have something similar to Ourasyn? I’m sure Raishin wouldn’t know if his race had something like that.

    Hey! But you’re right…

I don’t know actually. We might have something but if that’s the case I don’t know about it.

We kept shooting attacks at Wyndur and Tomato goddess and the vixens sent any clone into a dimensional hole. I used [Turning Leaf] and swapped Wyndur into attacks. Tomato goddess was too big. We continued harassing the gods from a comfortable range.

“So obnoxious!” tomato goddess yelled as she sent a house sized [Light wave] at us. Greg stepped in and protected us all with a gigantic [Shadow Dome]. Greg however did get a lot of questions. Some have heard that he is distantly related to them.

I don’t know the answers to all those questions! All I know is that my grandpa''s brother had ‘bonded’ with your grandmother.

I did notice some strange activity under the elves. They were fighting with spirits. Are they spirit mages? I tried to see if Sylvana was between them. She didn’t seem to be here. Their interaction with spirits was strange though. They didn’t talk much to them and it was as if they couldn’t interact with the spirits of their allies. I don’t actually know how a Spirit Mage works.
