Vol 3 Ch 54: [Toxic Donkey]

The plaza in front of the AA had 2 figures standing facing each other. All the bystanders had evacuated to the rooftops and were watching. Something strange was happening on the plaza. Toxic Donkey had no shadow. It did seem like shadows kept splitting off form him. He was surrounded by 9 Toxic Donkey shaped shadows.

Arby had an enormous [Silent Reaper] behind him. One arm of it was holding a scythe, the other one was empty handed. Arby looked like he was fighting to stand up. His side and arm seemed like they were frozen but there was no ice visible.

Toxic Donkey''s original shadow returned, totalling 10 shadows. He took out a vial with a dark blue liquid and poured it on his shadow. His mentor had given him a jar with a particular fire which Toxic Donkey had used to synthesize this dark blue liquid.

The shadow briefly turned into a liquid; It sent out ripples which hit the other shadows which also briefly acted as if they were made out of liquid. He then poured the rest of his vial on the arm of his donkey onesie and the suit turned into a dark blue liquid but it kept its appearance as a donkey onesie.

Out of nowhere something appeared and attacked Toxic Donkey. He got sneak attacked by a clone of Arby but the moment its dagger hit the suit of [Toxic Donkey] it corroded which spread to the arm of the clone and swiftly spread through the whole body of the clone making it turn into a dark blue ash. The wind made the dark blue ash statue collapse.

“Interesting, I just have to stay away from you.”

3 shadows ran at Arby. The [Silent Reaper] swung it’s scythe at the shadows. They got hit but the dark blue corrosion started to spread from the scythe, even the shadow of the scythe started to corrode.

“What is this nonsense!” Arby made the [Silent Reaper] throw the scythe away to prevent the corrosion to spread to his [Silent Reaper].

Never had Arby seen such a powerful and exotic poison. Very few poisons affect vague concepts like shadows.

The shadows closed in on Arby. He sent out [Shadow Grasps] and daggers to intercept the shadows. The daggers corroded after they got parried by the shadows. Arby covered the area below him with a [Shadow Ring]. It blocks light and dark attacks but since it’s just a shadow that’s all it does, it can’t block physical objects.

Toxic Donkey threw physical daggers seeped in poison at Arby and went into stealth. Arby also went into stealth. He was confident in his stealth. His hand and side were a problem.

Arby hated the cold; it made him slow and weak. He used a well-timed [Dark Nova] and someone in a donkey suit got hit and sent flying. The [Silent Reaper] started to spit out black fog that slowly started to cover the area. However... The fog turned into dark blue ash and fell to the ground.

“Do you seriously think I wouldn’t come up with something to counter that?” Toxic Donkey made a gesture and provoked Arby.

    “What is this bullshit!?”

“Well maybe calling it an ultimate skill was wrong, you see, if you make an ultimate technique, it’s extremely hard for opponents to counter it.”

Arby noticed that his brief moment of inattention caused him to get surrounded by shadows. Arby normally wouldn’t get into a situation like this. He hadn’t been himself lately. Everything seemed to piss him off and this taxed his focus.

Arby pushed through the pain and used his agility to escape the encirclement. He managed to hit Toxic Donkey with a [Dark blast] and a [Shadow ball]. Toxic Donkey slowed down quite a bit as a result of those hits.

Toxic Donkey was bleeding slightly but he was relatively healthy compared to Arby. Arby and Toxic Donkey spent 30 minutes evading each other trying to get a shot in that would seal the deal. There were times where Toxic Donkey got hit but his donkey onesie had turned into poison and turned anything into dark blue ash when it came into contact with the onesie.

Arby was getting fatigued and the poison was catching up to him. “Aaagh! It’s that stupid suit! Your insides would have turned into a soup if it wasn’t for that stupid suit!”

“I think it’s time to finish this off! Io!”

    Stolen novel; please report.

A red dragon appeared in the sky. Io in dragon form used [Dragon Dance] and fire rained down on the plaza.

“Ha! Moron! The light of the fire will hinder your shadows!”

    “Oh really?”

The shadows completed a magic circle. This magic circle is one he had found in the library of the Silent Night, shortly after he first met Io. This skill has a dual element. The skill is named [Shadow Flame]. As the name suggests it’s a flame made out of shadows. A fire and shadow affinity will create the best effects but in the case that the fire affinity is absent, it will shift fire caught in the circle to turn into shadows.

The circle activated; all the fire turned into shadows that connected to the shadows Toxic Donkey had spread out. The flames that Arby had blocked with his [Shadow Cloak] had now turned into shadows and his body started to corrode.

“Impossible! I can’t lose! I am the Silent Night!”

“And you can stay Silent forever now. Good Night!”

A shadow pierced the heart of Arby’s shadow, which meant that Arby’s real heart had started to corrode.

Thoughts flashed through Arby’s mind. This must be one of his many nightmares. There is no way he would lose to a man in a donkey suit and a dragon! He couldn’t accept this loss. His pride wouldn’t acknowledge nor accept this Toxic Donkey.

“I am the best assassin this world has ever seen and nobody can convince me otherwise! I will survive this, hunt you down and kill you!”

Toxic Donkey smiled as Arby’s body crumbled to dust.

Toxic Donkey took out a light red vial and poured it on his shadow. It turned red and rippled out to the other shadows. The shadows returned to normal and disappeared. He then poured the rest on his donkey suit and it turned back to normal.

He looked around to make sure that he didn’t miss anything. The adventurers on the roofs were staring and gossiping. Toxic Donkey hoped that this wouldn’t get him into trouble.

Io touched down and turned into her human form.

“We did it! We killed that asshole!” Io ran at Toxic Donkey and give him a kiss.

“Yes, we did. Finally! Thanks Io!” Kyle took off the donkey hood and sat on the floor.

“I’m tired. How about we rest for the night and check out what’s up with those [Meteors] tomorrow? Are your arm and tail, ok? I need to make sure you don’t get badly poisoned like the last time”

“You need to get yourself checked up first! I’m a dragon so I’m fine but you’re a human!”

A man stepped out of the AA. “What is going on here? Why is everything a mess here?”

Kyle recognized this man. This man was very nosy and liked to stick his nose into other people’s business. “Ugh! It’s Healerguy! Io let’s run!”

“Oh, you take after your mentor Kyle, I wonder what afflictions you have! Anyone who brings him to me gets a free checkup!”

Numerous adventurers jumped into action. A check up of a Golden Angel is quite expensive. They wouldn’t let this chance slip. These adventurers were no match for Toxic Donkey’s stealth, however…

“Io! Let me go!” Kyle attempted to break out of Io''s grab.

“Noo! You need to be in perfect shape for our eating spree!”

“I thought we would go and check out what’s up with Agn…”

Rubert, also known as Healerguy approached Kyle who was restrained by Io.

“Oh, so Agnis is involved in that catastrophe, why am I not surprised? How about you tell me more in the sickbay? I haven’t seen him around lately. I’m sure he also has some unique ailment and is about to kick the bucket unless someone checks up on him. I also need to give Io a checkup” Rubert smiled and dragged Kyle into the sickbay and Io followed.

“Nooo! Someone save me! I will pay you!”

None of the adventurers listened to Kyle’s plea. He might have won but he seemed like he could use a check up so no adventurer dared to step in. They also didn’t want to antagonize one of the most well-known Golden Angel, the Inquiring Anaesthetist. He was known for being nosy and highly skilled. In combat he had made a name for himself by putting opponents to sleep or sapping their fighting spirit.

Rumors went out later that day that the Silent Night had fallen and that the role might soon be renamed to ‘Toxic Donkey’
