I was still relaxing in my home in the jungle. The clone that had picked up the supplies in Gittrian was currently going through the library to gather any traces about the location of basilisks. I had an idea where I could find unicorns so that didn''t require any research.
There is a forest with a huge lake in the center of Hjuva. It is known for its clean air, clean water and frequent sights of rainbows. It also has large moving trees. I forgot what their race was called but the forest is quite dangerous because of those and that would be the perfect place for unicorns.
My clone had found some actual reports of petrified statues in an underground cave near mount Thunderpeak.
I quickly altered a batch of my Secret Weapon #3 to be in gas from which could come in handy in combatting basilisks.
The cave was closer to where I was, currently. Nilah turned into her sword form and I headed toward the cave. It felt great to run again and only took 2 days to get to it.
I put on my gas mask, went inside, connected to the underground leyline currents and used [Fire Dragon Dance].
The petrified statues belonged to adventurers who had already passed away. Having their bodies here on display for eternity was bad taste. I knocked them over or incinerated them with the aim of luring out the basilisks. It didn’t take long for 3 basilisks to appear. They didn''t appreciate the destruction of their collection. I confirmed that there weren’t any more after putting my Elgards eyes to use and scanning the area when I got hit by a recoil.
My Elgards eyes were pushing back on the petrifying gazes. Something similar to pushing back the Elgards eyes of the vixens in the Floating Lotus. I broke line of sight to get a break, to release the spicy gas.
It was made from the spiciest Scoville Nightmare oil, so this would certainly fuck them up. I used [Fade] and approached the basilisks. Their eyes were tearing up like crazy and I caught 2 barrels worth of tears before I decided to finish them off.
The fire dragons assaulted them until the basilisks turned into statues of charcoal. A bit brittle but good enough.
This was karma. Their charred corpses will be on display until someone knocks them over.
With that ingredient collected, it was time for the unicorn horns. I pulled on a [Dimensional Anchor] and returned to my house in Girai; It was still clean. It was a long run, but most of the terrain was a plain with not much in between, so I could run faster, which caused me to arrive after running for 2 hours.
Time and distance are irrelevant to me.
The forest was dense and quite dark. It reminded me of the forest where we encountered the shadow behemoth, but this forest wasn’t that dark. The tree creatures got spotted but they didn’t bother me, so I didn''t bother them.
I had my tails out, though. It was a free pass in most situations, in others it would get me targeted.
The lake was full of life. Some rare species were living their life here also a lot of normal species here but no unicorns. I did notice a strange rainbow in the distance, which was moving.
Attack first, ask questions later. I got ready to cut horns off and teleported toward the moving rainbow. The first thing I saw were 2 unicorns were having a tea party.
I have no time for this bullshit…
I cut off both of their horns and chucked them into my dimensional pocket.
“Hey what gives man! Give us some alone time!”
“Not cool bro! you wanna fight?!”
And I’m off, thank you for your contribution. Enjoy being a glorified horse for several months.
Unicorn A pointed at unicorn B. “Whoa your horn is gone mate!”
“Dude so is yours! Hey give them back!” This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
I tugged on a [Dimensional anchor] and returned to my home in the jungle. Next up; running through the sand to Berfhais.
Unicorns were strange creatures, I was aware of that but holding a tea party with just the 2 of them… I shook my head.
That’s not my business. Now for the biggest hurdle, come up with a passable excuse for why I had disappeared for 3 months.
‘Lost track of time’ won’t work. ‘I got locked in a life-threatening battle?’ I won''t be lying if I said that. I will go with that and hope Greg doesn’t ask too many questions.
The run to Berfhais sucked, too much sand, and it slowed me down considerably.
I stepped into the AA of Berfhais and everyone looked at me as if they saw a ghost. They looked at me and then at my portrait on the wall of missing adventurers.
Uhh, guess who’s back?
So many questions. Raishin and Elliana came running at me. Greg seemed to had buried himself into work more and was at Bomba’s place.
Where were you!? You could at least have sent us a message or a clone telling you would be gone for so long! These assholes of the AA were convinced you might be dead!
Yeah, sorry about that. I kind of got stuck in something that took longer than I hoped it would take. Is Greg at Bomba’s place?
“I’m glad you’re safe, please try to at least notify us. And about Greg, he is, they have refined and perfected every alchemy step by now all they need are the ingredients.” Elliana was using elvish magic to check if I’m fine. It’s rude but I appreciate that she cares.
I have all of them and it seems you have kept Raishin safe during the adventuring!
Hehe Elliana is already D-rank!
And you?
C-rank! Raishin said as he proudly patted his chest.
Wow they let you pass? Do you finally have an adventure name?
Wow come on! I am super strong! And uh… I got the name Crazy Firecracker… I wanted Sexy lightning…
Hahaha that name suits you! What did you do to deserve that name?
“He ended every battle in his assessment with a flashy explosion…”
You brought this upon yourself…
But it made the boring fights more interesting!
Well then accept your adventurer name, Crazy Firecracker!
Ugh, and I tried to change it to Sexy Lightning have been denied… it’s already taken…
Well, nothing you can do about it. I will head over to Bomba and get subjected to Greg’s unending questions.
We will come with you!
We went to Bomba’s place and I indeed got a million questions, but I managed to convince Greg that I was just too absorbed in what I needed to do and had some risky encounters in the meantime. I also managed to successfully evade questions on how I got these materials in only 3 months.
Everyone in this room could guess why besides Bomba, who kept asking about it. The funny part was that Bomba was the only one who wasn’t worried when I was away for so long because he knew how unrealistic and hard the material list was. He did know that I was part of an unusual race, but he didn’t know exactly how unusual it was.
All in all, 3 months was a very short time to gather all these materials even though it felt like an eternity to me.
