Chapter 699 Mending the Spirit.

    Cain shivered...

If he did something wrong or made a mistake...

{Replying to Host: If a single error is made during the weaving and mending process, then the host runs the risk of having his entire spirit unraveling and copsing}.

Cain wiped the sweat off his brows,

    ''Curses...''

He absolutely couldn''t do something like that. If he did, he would undoubtedly fail.

There was no human that was not prone to error. He didn''t even have the guts to be arrogant. It was not something he could do.

    And yet...

    For some reason...

A spark of hope blossomed in his eyes.

    He suddenly asked,

''Even if I make a skill, It doesn''t necessarily have to be responsible forying the pattern out, right?''

There was a moment of dy, then the system answered,

{Replying to Host: That is urate. It is indeed not absolutely necessary}.

    Cain nodded, ''I see...''

A hint of an idea was slowly taking root. However, he had to be very sure first before even attempting it.

''In other words, weaving the spirit is something that only nature can do with a hundred percent uracy, nature, and a being that is not prone to error.''

    {Replying to Host: Affirmative...}

Cain suddenly grinned, ''If that is the case, instead of worrying about errors, why not just let natiee do its thing, but give it a little push?''

He continued, ''The spirit mends so slowly, not because of the mending process, but because of the spirit gathering process, right? My spirit can only spin so much spirit threads at once. Is that right?''

There was another moment of dy, then the system answered,

{Replying to Host: Affirmative. However, there is reason for this. Should the host''s spirit do so any quicker, it would exhaust itself, which might bring about another tear, leaving to a never ending cycle of repair and destruction}.

Cain shook his head, ''This might be true, but I can simply let something else take the burden of weaving the threads, no?''

{Replying to Host: Affirmative... However, the spirit of the host is the only thing that can weave the spirit threads. The soul and the body are incapable of doing that}.

Cain nodded, ''That might be true...''

Then he chuckled, ''But what if I made a second spirit?''

{Replying to Host: That is impossible}.

Cain shook his head, ''No, it isn''t. In theory, it should be, but I think I can make it work at the very least.''

His mind spun, ''Not creating a whole new spirit in that sense, but at least replicating the spirit threads weaving function. Creating a mere portion of it.''

This time, the system stalled for about a minute before it answered.

{Replying to Host: The probability might exist, but that would take magic significantly higher than what the host is currently capable of}.

Cain chuckled dismissively, ''What, you underestimate me that much?''

{Replying to Host: It is one thing to attempt to mend a spirit, and another to create an entirely new one from nothing}.

Cain roller his eyes, ''Like I said, I''m not making a whole one. Alright, I have no further use for you.''

    {Replying to Host: "..."}

With that, Cain took in a deep breath and calmed his mind.

    The world slowed down...

For him to craft a new spill into existence, all he needed, was his mind.

''A skill that touches upon what is possible. One that can influence the spirit directly. No... One that can be a spirit itself.''

Before that, he had to truly understand what a spirit was.

From what he had heard from the system, it was an inanimate thing that was living.

A rather convoluted paradox, but one he could understand as he had seen his and there was no better way to exin it.

''It is living, but not in the sense that it draws breath. Rather, it is a part of me. A version of myself that lives in the same way that I live. If it exists, I exist, but the moment it ceass to be, my ligfe bes invalid as well, and i might not be able to use the Othershore to return it that happens.''

    A mirror image...n/?/vel/b//jn dot c//om

But a spiritual mirror image, and instead of it being a mere reflection, it was woven from spirit.

He activated {Spirit Sense} and began observing his spirit once more.

''How interesting... There are no magic circles involved. However, there are runes embroidered into the seams and on every inch of the fabric. However, if one doesn''t pay attention, it is quite easy to miss them.''

After observing for a while, Cain quickly came to several conclusions, the first being that it would take him a rather considerable period of time to make progress in his attempt.

Also, the rtionship between mana and spirit was far moreplicated than what he had originally assumed.

Yes, his spirit was absolutely filled to the brim with Mana. That mana was held in ce by the seams of his spirit. In turn, the mana gave his spirit life and substance.

They couldn''t exist without each other, and if one was not there, the other would cease to exist.

However, they were not one and the same. They were unique forms of energy and could not be used interchangeably.

But regardless, both seemed to react rather simrly to the presence of runes.

The runes that were etched into every inch of his spirit, for example, were not runes of mana, but runes of spirit.

Because his spirit was that of a Tier 1he could easily understand all of the runes.

But just because he could understand them, didn''t mean he knew what they meant.

In fact, he had no idea what they meant. Just because one understood English didn''t mean one would understand literature on advanced physics concepts after all.

It was much of the same thing...

In the end, he didn''te out with any substantial gain. But he now had a ce to start from. If he was sessful, he would be able to speed up his soul''s healing process and shorten what should have been a painfully long period of time drastically...
