Chapter 43: Still a bit troublesome?

    Although they can’t participate in the discussions and can only observe what’s happening on the forum, people are eagerly discussing. Many students who knew about Robert Thomp’s situation seemed truly excited.


    “Robert Thomp’s finished! I refuse to believe he can keep his position after this scandal!”


    “I wonder if our director Thomp will be able to sitfortably in his position after this. Damn, I should call my sister,” went the conversations in various ces on F University’s territory. Most students merely circted thesements, unsupported by evidence. However, the person who just hacked F University’s forum had concrete proof!


    “Quick! Shut down the forum!” Robert also saw the announcement on the forum and was truly panicking now. If earlier only a few knew about the scandal because the administrators acted swiftly, and the forum was not frequented by many, not many had seen the video.


    But now, the school’s forum was no longer in their control; the hacker had taken over the entire forum, expelling all the admins. Even the skilled members of theputer interest group, some of whom had already secured jobs with ITpanies, couldn’t reim control over theputer server.


    As for Robert Thomp himself; forget it. He may have theoretical knowledge, but his practical operation level was probably inferior to an average student’s.


    “Director Thomp, the forum server is not in the school, but hosted under the Immortal Science Company.” A student by his side quickly mentioned with a bitter smile.


    “Then call the Immortal Science Company. Say that our school forum server has been invaded and ask them to shut it down,” Robert quickly replied.


    Vice Principal Joey, who was standing nearby watching the panicked Robert, finally spoke, “I will make the call. After all, this incident has major implications for F University’s reputation.”


    The Immortal Science and Technology Limited Company might not be well-known in Celeston City or even the entire country, with many not even heard of its name. However, thispany was by no means small and indeed quite famous along the southern coast.


    In this circle, it was a very well-known server provider nationwide. In essence, they provided server leasing to otherpanies. As nearly all big or smallpanies have their website, most are not, however, capable of affording their own server. 90% ofpany servers are leased.


    The F University’s forum and server operation were no exceptions, even though F University had its supeputer. Such supeputers were assigned to specific research groups for certain projects and considered cooperative properties rather than solely F University’s assets, therefore, they couldn’t use these resources.


    The maintenance of these servers would require arge staff, so it was easier to rent a server directly. However, advantagese with renting a server, such as not having to worry about any server-rted issues, since the Immortal Science Company had personnel handling server maintenance. But it also had a drawback, just as now, the server problem couldn’t be addressed directly. They could only contact the people in the Immortal Science Company.


    Fortunately, Vice Principal Joey’s phone call worked swiftly, and the hardware and software engineers of Immortal Science Company knew about the incident promptly and started processing. Although the students of F University failed to gain back the control of the server, the situation was different for the security personnel of the Immortal Science Company. The serverpany’s security personnel were definitely not students.

    Upon receiving the call from F University, these personnel immediately got into action. But restarting the server wasn’t as easy as it sounds! The server room of the Immortal Science Company upied at least seven to eight floors, the electric fee generated by therge cooling equipment alone amounted to millions annually.


    One school forum certainly could not take up such a substantial server. Restarting thepany-standard server arrays could affect several otherpanies’ servers. It was amon urrence. Many server arrays house twopanies’ official websites to offer ess to the public and make maximum reasonable use of resources.


    The security personnel hence first tried to regain their server. However, they soon were shocked. They knew their servers and, although the security measures were decent, they were not world-top. Yet these security personnel, who themselves are server security staff, had back doors on the servers. A lot of the back doors were to act from the hardware, but now they were allpletely deficient!


    How is that possible?! The eyes of the security personnel widened in shock. Their protections were all disabled. They thought, is there some elite security personnel from the web surveince department, famous domestic, and international hackers with such horrifying skills?


    What the hell! Thousands of thoughts crossed the security personnel’s minds. Who the hell did F University offend?! But while some were responsible for getting back the servers, some were checking the forum conditions. Ten minutes passed quickly.


    When Zero, following Finn Lewis’s request, posted the threads ording to the previous titles with added 1, 2, 3 in order, everyone was taken aback! The evidence was not just one video!


    After Finn Lewis posted over a hundred videos, not only were the students shocked, but so were the security staff. However, once their surprise subsided, these staff did not care who Robert Thomp was and started cursing in their working studio.


    Most security personnel doing these jobs were otakus, and this crowd generally tended to get emotional and somewhat indignant.


    “Manager, should we bother about such rubbish?!” a youth in his twenties couldn’t help but push up the sses on his nose andshed out. The reason for this youth’s anger was because he was a graduate of F University!


    “Shut down the servers in this group for now. I don’t want to deal with such rubbish either. But we are just server providers. We do not handle affairs like these, and given how much fuss it has caused, the police aren’t blind. However, we should protect our customers.” The manager waved his hand and said. Even though some felt angry, someone still turned off that group of servers.
