What is your favorite type of concept in webnovels? Me personally. I prefer novels where the MC can ''rewind''. You have probably seen my taste just from reading these stages.
It is always fun when the MC has powers related to time.
You have seen it in my books and in my recommendations.
Today. I started reading a book called ''Killing rules? Do you know that after I die, I can be reborn?'', the chinese name is 杀人规则？你可知我死后，能重生. It is written by 空之恋.
It sort of reminds me of ''weird and hard to kill? Sorry, I am truly immortal''. Chinese name is ''诡异难杀？抱歉，我才是真正不死''. The quality isn''t quite up to that one however. That author is REALLY good at this type of story. Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original.
They also wrote ''I control the world with illusions'' or 我用幻术控制全世界.
The main issue I have with the book I am reading now ''Killing rules? Do you know that after I die, I can be reborn?'' is the MC''s lack of hiding his ability.
The MC tries multiple times to tell others he can be reborn instead of pretending to have unlocked some sort of precognition. But the universe itself seems to stop him. I don''t think he realizes how scary his ability can be if others found out. Luckily, every time he tries to tell others, be it through text or voice etc, he is unable to talk about his rebirth after death.
It is like what happened to Subaru in Re:Zero.
So he is basically forced to lie and pretend he has precognition and the ability to see the future. I am happy this is the case. But unhappy with his excuses when he meets the higher-ups.
He tells them his ability activation is ''random''. Precognition is a forbidden power in their universe. So they don''t know much about it. So he could of made up some sort of bullshit price he had to pay to divine the future.
He had already died dozens of times in an attempt to stop an event from happening.
I also don''t like the ''update'' mechanic shown so far. In these types of stories. I prefer ''The Perfect Run'' style cheats where the MC can choose the point in time they return to.
They get to choose when to ''save'' in a sense.
That doesn''t seem to be the case in this story. The update point seems pretty random so far and I hope the MC doesn''t get screwed by it. He already has once so early in the story lost someone important to him.
I think the MC has a LOT of room for growth. He definitely doesn''t seem to be the sort of person to scheme.
I''m also hoping his ability to return by death isn''t his actual ability. I hope he unlocks a proper power.
I''ve only read the first 30 chapters of that story so far and will continue to read it. I can''t really rate it so far, but it looks like it''ll still be a fun read.
