On the topic of favorite webnovels. I think I''ll talk about some I disliked. I rarely do this. But I''ll briefly mention some webnovels I thought wasted their potential.
''The God Virus'' on webnovel.
Man. The idea of a artificial intelligence traveling through time and building themselves a biological body to take over the world is something that had me hyped.
The story starts off with an artificial intelligence named ''Virus''. This ''thing'' has an independent consciousness and can exist without form. The processing power is on an entirely different level. It can do things like essentially stop time for years to ''think''.
By some means. This artificial intelligence accidentally travels through time with its independent consciousness. It then has free reign in the less advanced world it finds itself in. Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.
A world similar to our own.
By simply thinking. It can change all information around the world and all technology.
They immediately have essentially infinite money. What I found really fun was them hiring people and communicating from devices. They build a lab and have a perfect body grown for them.
They then bind their consciousness with this human body.
They make themselves immortal at the start and still retain their ability to mess with technology. But now, they can be killed. So begins a interesting story.
Or so you would think...
The artificial intelligence is quite manipulative and not in the fun way. Their goal is to have sex??? Apparently, a machine that is immortal and almost all knowing...
Their main reason for becoming human was for this reason. The other reason being cultivation.
I was tempted to drop the story at this point. But continued it due to the interesting premise. They eventually travel to another world by building a spaceship.
But some cultivators destroy their ship and almost capture him.
So now you have an artificial intelligence in a cultivation world with no technology. The MC essentially loses all the powers that made him interesting to read about. It just becomes a generic cultivation story at that point.
Another story I disliked was ''I have a mansion in the apocalypse'' on webnovel.
This is like a majorly inferior version of 捡到一个末世世界.
The MC is simply too horny and unfun to read about. The cheat itself is quite interesting however. Being able to shuttle between two worlds. It reminds me of 捡到一个末世世界. But it was far worse...
Another story I disliked was ''Master of Time'' on webnovel.
Such a cool concept. MC suddenly finds himself gaining all sorts of weird powers. He can completely control time in all sorts of ways...
But he uses it to do some degenerate things...
I would not recommend.
He eventually gets trapped by the incarnation of the author and I stopped reading at that point.
My main complaint is that the MC keeps getting tricked by other entities. He notices he has vulnerabilities. But does nothing to address them. He isn''t as OP as he should''ve been with his powers. He ends up getting trapped in an illusion and the story pretty much ended for me at that point.
