Under the night sky, the Angelic Wings that spread out behind Qin Ruo were as dazzling as a shooting star that cut across the darkness.
Qin Ruo disliked such a high-profile traveling method. He was basically announcing his arrival to the Demon Faction crowd rushing toward Moonrise City, as well as to all the yers currently flooding the city gate either from within or beyond the walls.
Just a few minutes ago, the northern wall of Moonrise City had been attacked violently by tens of Demon Faction Tier 5 Champions that resulted in the victory of the rival faction tond onto the top of the city wall. So happened that yer’s Heart, Violet Orchid, and some of his old friends were all stationed at the northern region. Qin Ruo did not expect the siege war to worsen at such a rapid rate. As such, he had no other choice and could not think of other option aside from heading toward the northern gate at full speed.
Qin Ruo knew that such a heroic entrance would certainly draw the attention of every Tier 5 Champion there onto himself. But he was not going to be bothered by that now.
yer’s Heart, Violet Orchid, and everyone else would definitely stay on to defend the northern wall. He was not going to abandon hisrades at such a critical moment.
As for the potential threat from the Demon Faction...
‘Screw them.’
When he was shot down by Bandit Leader at the Monster Mountains, Qin Ruo had a new revtion about Aquamorph, which allowed him to have a better understanding of the ability. Even if he were to face a seasoned Champion now, it was hard to say who would be at the losing end if only Tier 5 AoE spells were used.
With that confidence in mind, Qin Ruo pped his wings continuously to maintain the extreme speed. He maneuvered past around a few pairs of Tier 5 Champions in deadlock to fly straight to Moonrise City without stopping.
Among those skirmishes that he passed by, Qin Ruo knew only some of the involved Tier 5 Champions and was unfamiliar with most of them. A war at such intensity would not be easily concluded just by the addition of another yer. Once there was a renewed danger, those Demon Faction yers might opt to retreat anytime, or even choose to bury themselves together with the enemy with a Tier 5 AoE Magic Scroll.
Thus, Qin Ruo decided not to intervene and directly went around it.
***
“Qin Ruo?”
ck God was up there in the air above the northern gate too. He instantly recognized Qin Ruo by thebination of his Dark Gold robe, unique weapon, and Legendary equipment. A sh of hope shone in his eyes and he quietly contacted Qin Ruo while catching a breath in the middle of his fight, “Little Qin, do message Apocalypse once you reach the northern wall. Meet him there and fight together.”
He knew that the northern wall he was supposed to be guarding was in deep trouble now. Unfortunately, he could not free himself from his pestering opponent. Qin Ruo’s timing could not be more precise.
After all, Qin Ruo was a Tier 5 Champion that had fused with Divinity. He was unquestionably stronger than a normal Tier 5 by several levels. Once he teamed up with ck Rock and Apocalypse who currently was currently hidden among the northern crowd, they would be a force to be reckoned with under Violet Orchid’s support.
With the sound of wind roaring in his ears, Qin Ruo crossed path with the nearest fighting pair and gave them a thoughtful look. ‘Apocalypse is around the northern region too? That’s great!’
He went around them and replied, “Roger that!” His confidence had just been greatly boosted.
However, there was a sudden sense of impending danger up front.
Alerted, Qin Ruo slowed down gradually and looked on vigntly at a dark shadow ascending rapidly from the city wall afar.
The dark pair of wings seemed to blend into the surrounding darkness. The fiend-like figure rose from the northern region of the city like a spirit and shot directly toward his direction.
“Damn it!”
ck God sensed Qin Ruo’s unease the first time. He also saw the person who was sent by Demon Faction to stop Qin Ruo.
There were only two Champions from Demon Faction at the northern wall that had Demonic Wings.
One was on top of the city wallmanding the conquering troop to expand their influence. So apparently, the oneing their way was the other one...
Death Jesus!
“Shit! Little Qin! The iing yer is Death Jesus. This is bad. He is one of the strongest among the few Supreme Champions in the Demon Faction. Beware not to be tangled up by him!”
***
“Shadowmancer, Death Jesus?” Qin Ruo recalled some of the skills a Shadowmancer owned quickly. He then made up his mind and dashed forward valiantly. He elerated steadily to resume his path toward Moonrise City.
Qin Ruo’s action that was almost suicidal baffled ck God.
In contrast, the Demon Faction Champion who fought ck God, Northern Tropic, was uneasy about Qin Ruo’s strange decisiveness. He followed the fearless Qin Ruo closely and sent out a quick message, “Beware, Jesus!”
***
‘Beware? Are you kidding me?’
Death Jesus shut down the message and ignored Northern Tropic’s warning. Nevertheless, he was a little disturbed.
‘It’s f*cking strange recently. One after another newly promoted Tier 5 rookie and those Tier 4 strengthened by Pet is getting cockier and cockier.’
‘Lizard Bandit? Psycho Demon? Ugh, don’t make me throw up.’
Besides that, he was also almost defeated by yer’s Heart and Violet Orchid a while ago. Not to forget ck God who appeared out of nowhere with his rubbish Dark Gold equipment...
‘Alright, I will let that slide. After all, I was on their turf now. It’s not too embarrassing being caught off guard by three well coborated Tier 5 yers with positional advantage. But this guy in front of me here, who does he think he is?’
The more Death Jesus thought about it, the angrier he got. The embarrassment of being shot down from the air and almost getting killed once again filled his mind. He wanted to release all of his frustrations onto the Winter Demon Qin Ruo.
‘Such an arrogant guy! You are just a guy fresh in Tier 5, an Aquamancer who relied on a Tier 5 Summoned Boss instead of yourself to dominate the Graveyards of the Gods! You might get all shy with Stealth and some childish tricks. But after getting famous and fusing with Divinity, you really thought you are now at the top of the world? What an ignorant brat!’
Death Jesus’s face contorted as he enhanced the speed of magic condensation. He was more than ready to teach the arrogant kid a lesson.
But as soon as he finished with that thought, Death Jesus felt that something was not right. The feeling intensified when Qin Ruo was getting to him nearer and nearer without slowing down.
Elementalists were extra sensitive to the magical fluctuations around them. This was especially prominent after an Elementalist reaches Tier 5.
As the distance between the two of them decreased rapidly, Death Jesus apparently sensed the magical fluctuation from his opponent. The fluctuation was exceptionally powerful and felt oddly familiar.
With Qin Ruo traveling at full speed, a magnificent amount of aura spilled over to Death Jesus unstoppably. The feeling was like a sword had just been unsheathed. The piercing radiance reached out to Death Jesus aggressively.
***
“What a madman!” Death Jesus hesitated. He refused to believe there was such a crazy person in this world.
‘He was charging a Tier 5 AoE offensive sell up at this altitude of two hundred meters? Is he insane?’
Their outer defense would not save them if they dropped to the ground from this altitude. They would be minced meat once they reached the ground, with or without Barrier. ‘Bastard, doesn’t he know falling together will do him no good whatsoever? This will only benefit some lucky yer who happens to be around and loot our equipment.’
In this siege war, when most Champions from both factions had chosen the sky as their battlefield, it became an unspoken rule that none shall or would use such a spell that was devastating to both parties.
Thus, Qin Ruo’s action was far beyond Death Jesusprehension, which caught him off guard and hindered his initial n. Thetter proceeded to p his wings hard in the opposite direction and cursed loudly. He would be the crazy one if he risked his life against the insane Qin Ruo.
One was a loner with no background that just recently became famous...
While the other was a n Leader under a great League. He was the de facto leader of Maverick Vatican, a Tier 5 Supreme Champion, and was looked up by many...
One has mixed equipment of Legendary and Dark Gold quality...
The other? Carefully tailored full set of finest Legendary quality for a Tier 5 Champion.
If they were to die together, Qin Ruo would be hailed as the hero of Angel Faction, while Death Jesus would only be his stepping stone to further boost the less experienced yer’s poprity.
What Death Jesus would get in return? Nothing. He would only be aughing stock for losing out to a new rookie. A piece of tainted history would be forever imprinted in his life.
Although he was unsure of whether the opponent really has a death wishing at him kamikaze style, Death Jesus could foresee that Qin Ruo might really pull the trigger if he did not back off.
One thing added to another, and Death Jesus lost the mental game. He flew aside and watched nkly as Qin Ruo ignored him and continued his course toward Moonrise City.
“F*ck!”
Death Jesus face was pped hard by Qin Ruo’s action. His face was red with fury.
Under the gaze of ck God and Northern Tropic, Death Jesus locked on to Qin Ruo and powered his Demonic Wings to chase behind the ruthless Aquamancer.
***
“...” After Qin Ruo received another reminder from ck God about the pursuer, he calmly nced back at Death Jesus who was now about a hundred meters behind him.
Both of Death Jesus responses—first avoiding the head-on crash, then chasing behind him—were wholly anticipated by Qin Ruo.
After all, Death Jesus was a seasoned Tier 5 Champion that enjoyed the privilege and position like Majestic Hero, Netherw, and Scarlet Bauhinia. The League Master of Maverick Vatican was a low-key yer who seldom appeared in public. Most of the matters in the League had been delegated to Death Jesus.
After being easily scared off by a rookie, it was totally understandable that the Shadowmancer was highly provoked. Besides, Qin Ruo was told earlier by yer’s Heart and Violet Orchid that Death Jesus was not a very forgiving person.
“Well,e closer.”
Qin Ruo intentionally slowed himself down little by little so that Death Jesus could catch up to him eventually.
To be honest, he longed for the fight. He weed the experience of fighting a Tier 5 Supreme Champion first hand.
Furthermore, within this short few minutes, the process of him fighting Bandit Leader and the others at Monster Mountains most probably still had not reached Death Jesus’s ears who was busy with the siege war.
So Qin Ruo was eager to know whether Death Jesus had anything up to his sleeve when he lost the Demonic Wings.
Once he made up his mind, he suddenly flew up.
He surged toward the sky and made a flip, then bolted toward the approaching Death Jesus.
‘Madman!’
Death Jesus’s eyes widened as he held his breath. Subconsciously, he stopped pping his Demonic Wings and reflexively took out a scroll from his backpack. This time, he decided not to back off.
The pride as a Tier 5 Supreme Champion disallowed him from retreating a second time—not from some crazy Tier 5 noob.
“Doomsday!”
“Frozen Realm!”
Boom!!!
***
The explosion urred right on top of the northern wall of Moonrise City.
More than ten Tier 5 Supreme Champions fighting in the air simultaneously withdrew from each other and looked puzzledly at the northern part of the city.
