Chapter 703: A Gathering of Top Dogs I

“Swordmasters! I need more Swordmasters! All charge!!”

    “Priests fall back!”

“Bowmasters, what are you standing there for? Make yourselves useful! Attaaaack!!”

The ambushunched by dozens of the Fallen Angels’ Demigod Champions had caught the assembling army by surprise. Several Commanders from the Ten Great Leagues barked their orders from the safety of the high trees. Ten meters up on the treetops, they had a bird’s-eye view of the whole battleground. These yers were tasked to coordinate the army, which consisted of different sses, to fall into battle formation in a bid to repel the Fallen Angels’ attack!

An army of ten men took on a force of a hundred or even a thousand timesrger than them... It was unthinkable! Absurd!

However, the Fallen Angels’ track record and the terrifyingbat power, as well as prating ability disyed by its men, had highlighted the seriousness of the matter.

Wave after wave, their brothers in arms fell before their very eyes. The Commanders at the back could not do much other than shout at the top of their lungs, “Swordmasters! Use Aura Drill to close in! Noobs!”

“Bowmasters! Snipe them with unit-target attacks! At least bring one guy down!!”

“Eff! Ignore those Elementalists! Their Magic Defense is insane! All Priests, focus on yers who are not Elementalists!”

“Holy crap! Negative! I’ve lost them!”

“Same here! I can’t home in on them!”

Lightning sparks and mes tore the ground while moans and groans filled the battlefield... Despite the utilization of Aura Drill and theunching of attacks in waves, their attempt to make an effective counterattack was in vain.

The Fallen Angels were simply masters of scrimmage. Their exemry teamwork did not even allow a fly to get through their line of defense. The Ten Great Leagues could hardly find a chance to inflict significant damage on the same target twice—the Demigod Champions shrugged off their minimal damage easily.

Once the Swordmasters made a minor breakthrough, they would be pushed back again by spells the likes of Thunderburst or Frostburst, or be greeted with Earthramparts and Arcane Bogs, squandering their brief period of immunity; once that happened, they were finished.

The Bowmasters suffered the same fate...

Although physical long-ranged skills with high damage could potentially break an Elementalist’s Barrier in a few shots, they did not fare better than the Swordmasters—their enemies denied them any chance to home in on them, let alone attack.

Since Bowmasterscked self-defense abilities, they only had one shot...

If they blinked, they might miss the perfect moment to strike!

    And they were doomed!

    Elementalists were the most unfortunate.

Against their opposing Demigod Champion counterparts, the damage they inflicted was minuscule. On the other hand, against non-Elementalist sses, the Fallen Angels would be on high alert...

The Ten Great Leagues Alliance was especially very restrictive in using AoE Spells in order to prevent friendly fire. They could not shine using mostly unit-target skills, which could be easily dodged.

To add to their frustration, the asional Elemental Wave from the proactive Fallen Angels’ Priests at the rear mitigated the threat from their concentrated magic attack.

If it had not been for the unending waves of cannon fodder who took their fallenrades’ ce, they would have already been demoralized!

Soon, more and more reinforcements from the Ten Great Leagues arrived and trapped the Fallen Angels in a big circle!

The tide of battle began to turn in favor of the Ten Great Leagues!

    “Hehe!”

    “You can’t escape this time!”

    “Don’t let them flee!!”

“You guys, keep an eye on the Chimeras in the sky! Don’t let them cause any trouble!”

    “The rest, prepare to charge!”

The Ten Great Leagues were finally able to catch their breath when they saw the Fallen Angels getting heavily surrounded.

Ten thousand lives in exchange for dozens of Fallen Angels... It was worth it!

    ***

“Looks like we’re about to be overwhelmed...”

On the chaotic battlefront, a rather rxed Subjugator retreated into the safety of the Fallen Angels’ defensive formation before his Aura Drill dissipated after rounds of killing. After he scanned his surroundings, he remarked as if he was uninvolved.

Dazzling white electrical charges apanied by the rumbling of thunder wiggled in Homme Fatale’s grip like they were alive. He proceeded to discharge his two-meter long Thunderbird at the hostile forces. It had been elongated by means of synergy with a barrage of Thunderbursts. It prated them with such a force that they screamed in pain. Then, it was withdrawn at the speed of light and shrunken back to its usual size.

“Three more minutes, then we’re out of here.”

    ***

At the boundary of the mysterious Darkmist behind the battlefield, ten figures in ck Summoner’s robes lurked in silence. Their eyes were fixated on the distant warfare through the dark fog.

    All of a sudden!

They spontaneously raised their feet and drew a mini hexagram pattern on the ground. Their skillful synchronized movements created a breathtaking scene.

The moment the hexagonal portal waspleted, they started a countdown in unison, all of them wearing a serious expression.

    “Three!

    “Two!

    “One!

    “Summon!”

    Bamf!

Ten beams of light shone almost simultaneously next to the ten members of the Fallen Angels who were in the heat of battle.

“Argh! My spell was just ready...”

“So soon!? I thought I still had time for a few more kills.”

“No time to lose! Restock asap! Motherchucker, I drank at least ten Rootless Elixirs earlier... They almost got me! Son of a Lich! Some of ’em with clear thinking know how to cast basic Elementalism spells—my weakness! Luckily, I dodged ’em all in time... Glug... glug...” Subjugator said, before guzzling down another bottle of elixir.

Everyone stayed on their toes and quickly picked up the red and blue elixirs scattered on the ground. Their Summoners also wasted no time in passing down Magic Scrolls of different factions to them.

“Hey Rocky, Grand Reaper needs some healing after this!”

Violet Orchid and a few Priests surrounded a Grand Reaper of the Undead type, not to harm it but to protect it... That was not something one could see every day.

“And you guys, the fight will only grow fiercerter on so you better fully heal up while you can!”

    About ten seconds passed...

    “All right!”

    “Go!!”

    ***

The Fallen Angels disappeared collectively in the blink of an eye, leaving behind a pile of dead bodies and a dumbstruck Ten Great Leagues army...

One moment they were charging at their enemies, the next they were gone!

No word could describe their frustration!

Many turned their heads to inspect their surroundings in disbelief, hoping to catch sight of their mortal enemies.

    “What in the Underworld?!”

“That’s it? They just fled like that?”

“What the... How could they be so disgraceful?”

“Yeah... First, they ambushed us. Then, they run away from a manly battle after they’ve killed so many of us. The Fallen Angels are cowards!”

The Ten Great Leagues mored to vent their frustration... But unbeknownst to them, their enemies were just two hundred meters ahead of them, hidden in in sight and observing their every move while restoring their health within the darker region.

    “Disgraceful?” they sneered.

As if fighting the Fallen Angels with the strength of the entire Ten Great Leagues was not disgraceful...

As if fighting ten men with the force of one hundred thousand men was not disgraceful...

“Pick on someone your own size! Hypocrites!”

    ***

At that very moment, ck Emperor’s Deputy League Master stood in front of the crowd...

“The Chimera Cavalry of the Fallen Angels are still lingering above. Seems like they are still guarding the corpses! Be careful, everyone! They may be up to something! The Fallen Angels can’t have traveled far!”

Once he said that, he immediately turned to shoutmands at his underlings.

“Priests! Resurrect our casualties at once!”

“Heh... Since they’re away, those who can fly, follow me! Let’s finish the Chimera Cavalry first while they’re not here!!”

Decisive and quick to take action, he was indeed a good leader... worthy of his high position in his n and League!

    However!

Right after he finished his speech...

Amotion broke out. Numerous people simultaneously pointed their fingers at something behind him, as though they had been struck by electricity.

    “League Master, look!!”

    “They’re there!!”

As he turned his head to find what the fuss was about, his heart sank. It was none other than the Fallen Angels who had escaped their siege, safe and sound.

They were spotted by the Ten Great Leagues right after they exited the zone shrouded in Darkmist.

    ***

Even though they had sessfully located their enemies, the ck Emperor’s Deputy League Master felt a chill creeping over him...

He knew how difficult the Darkmist was to handle, and the Fallen Angels managed to turn the artificial Darkmist into their hive...

By the looks of it, there had to be more Fallen Angels hidden inside the dark fog!

    It seemed that...

There were almost certainly yers who were responsible for logistics support besides Summoners inside the mysterious dark fog!

    “Damn you, Fallen Angels!!”

The long battle earlier should have left them low on battle consumables. But people who were smart enough to retreat at a crucial moment unlikely forgot to replenish their supplies!

In other words, their sacrifice earlier was for nothing!

    ***

About ten veteran Demigod yers courageously charged into the Ten Great Leagues’ impromptu battle formation. Another round of groans and moans followed like a morbid forest melody.

After learning that the Fallen Angels could escape difficult situations anytime by means of teleportation, the Ten Great Leagues lost their morale.

Some resourceful yers came up with the idea of eliminating the Fallen Angels’ backup in the dark fog so that they could not abuse the same strategy repeatedly. While the idea was great, none of the elite Parties sent on the mission were able toe out alive. The Darkmist itself was already a tricky problem, much more now that it was guarded by the Fallen Angels. They soon abandoned the thought.

    ***

“The Ten Great Leagues are getting whooped by the Fallen Angels. They’re so pathetic!”

When those who came to spectate the war saw what was happening, most of them regarded the losing side lightly.

Many vanguards from external Parties had arrived on the battle scene in the meantime. But, these spectators knew their ce and settled down once they surveyed the battleground. They showed no intention of interfering!

Near the battlefront, over thirty professional yers from multiple renowned ns were all eyes and ears, watching the battlefront from atop tall trees. Some of them were sitting while some of them were lying down casually.

“Hmm... Looks like it’s not their fault. The Fallen Angels are simply out of their league...”

Although they were there as spectators, they did not dare to drop their guard. Barriers and defensive skills were a staple. After all, both sides were engaged in Hostile killings. They were taking a risk by staying so close.

After a long observation, they soon figured out what was going on, and the Fallen Angels instilled both respect, as well as fear, in their hearts.

The Fallen Angels’ excellent performance in the Grand Tournament was undisputed! It was indeed full of talented yers! However...

To be able to stand up to the Ten Great Leagues as equals with just about ten yers was just too overpowered! Unbelievable! Besides, the Ten Great Leagues also had their own Demigod Champions!

Actually, it was just polite to say that they were equal. If it had not been for the seemingly infinite manpower of the Ten Great Leagues, one could say that it was a ughter with ten to one hundred yers from the Ten Great Leagues dying per second.

With the help of the artificial Darkmist, as long as the Fallen Angels could stall until the League War started...

The Ten Great Leagues’ defeat was set in stone even without the Fallen Angels mobilizing all of their manpower.
