Seeing Sebastian''s grim expression, Sydney could sense his strong dislike for Theodore. The thought of her two sons being at odds troubled her deeply.
Although they were both her children, she couldn''t expect them to get along, especially since they were raised in such different environments and were now in love with the same woman.C0ntent ? 2024 (N/?)velDrama.Org.
Theodore was the younger brother, and Sebastian the older; yet now, the older brother was married to the younger brother''s ex-wife, who was also carrying his child.
This tangled rtionship made Sydney''s head spin and filled her with anxiety. She had never felt so troubled; the conflicts of one generation had carried over to the next.
"Sebastian." She finally spoke up.
Hearing her calling him by his first name made Sebastian feel uneasy. "Ms. Harper, I don''t think it''s appropriate for you to call me that."
"Is it wrong for me to call you by your name? Given my age, I think it''s not too offensive," she replied.
Sebastian took a deep breath and nodded. "Fine, call me whatever you want."
Regardless of how she addressed him, it didn''t change their strange rtionship. They were essentially adversaries. He still remembered how she had insulted, cursed, and even hit him. Those memories were not easily forgotten.
"Can you please stop hating Theodore?" Sydney asked, her voice softer than before.
Sebastian frowned. "What did you say?"
"I know you dislike him, but Theodore is already divorced from Rosalie. I assure you, they will never be together again. Isn''t it better to maintain this status quo?"
Sebastian snorted coldly. "Do you even know what you''re saying?"
Sydney wasn''t the type to be submissive or soft-spoken,
especially when it came to her son Asking another man not to hate him was out of character for her. Such a strong-willed woman only spoke like this with an agenda.
"Of course I know," Sydney replied. "Gaining another enemy won''t benefit you, so I hope you won''t keep opposing Theodore."
"Me? Opposing him?" Sebastian''s irritation grew. "He''s the one who keeps harassing Rose! Ask her how many times he''s hurt her. Your son has no shame! And you me me for standing against him? Am wrong to protect Rose? This is all his doing! The Spencers have wronged Rose, causing her parents'' deaths and now making her suffer!"
Every time Sebastian mentioned "your son", Sydney felt a pang of pain. She wanted to tell Sebastian that he was her son, too.
But she could only keep that thought to herself, and dared not voice it.
"Sebastian, I know you have a bias against the Spencers. I admit Theodore has hurt Rose in the past, and I won''t defend him. But they''re divorced now. Rose won''t go back to him. Since you''re with her now, just treat her well. Theodore''s future is none of your concern; you don''t need to hold a grudge against him."
Sebastian sneered. "Don''t you find it strange? Why the sudden change in your attitude? Are you plotting something against me, or is this a scheme between you and your son?"
"Is that really how you see me?" Sydney''s heart ached.
"Previously, you insulted and hit me. How else should I perceive you?"
Faced with Sebastian''s retort, Sydney found herself speechless.
"I''m sorry for what happened before. I truly apologize," she said atst.
Sebastian shook his head. "No, you don''t need to apologize anymore. It''s meaningless now."
