The lunch went on pretty smoothly, despite Sydney''s nerves at the start.
Christopher, on the other hand, remained rather open-minded.
Sydney slowly got infected by his mood; they started chatting about many things, ranging from finance-rted issues to personal preferences. They even shared anecdotes about interesting and strange things they encountered.
The two of them got along pretty well.
Many times during their conversation, Sydney was tickled pink by Christopher.
Each time Sydneyughed, Christopher would look at her with a tender and deep look in his eyes. Yet, he always managed topose himself right before Sydney noticed it.Text ? by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
They continued chatting long after their meal was over.
The clock struck two in the afternoon before they realized it.
Sydney nced at her watch. "Mr. Jackson, we''ve been here for so long. I''m sorry for holding you back from your appointments."
Christopher smiled. "Not at all. Am I holding you back from anything?"
Sydney smiled politely. "Of course not. I just didn''t expect us to have so much to talk about."
Christopher was truly very different from all other powerful and influential leaders she had met.
He was polite and knew his boundaries. He didn''t do everything he pleased and disregarded other people''s feelings just because he had the power to do so.
He even thanked the waiter each time he switched out their tes and napkins.
He was a very charming man indeed.
However, she heard that he had never been married and had no children to his name. He probably gave his entire life to his career.
A man like him probably had nock of women, given his status as a bachelor.
People who were powerful and influential didn''t let their marital status stop them from having their fun outside the family. They simply did it in the dark, such that no one else knew about it.
Sydney often saw those well-dressed men surrounded by beauties at public functions. Famous female celebrities were merely ythings to them. As long as they footed the bill, they were capable of many filthy things.
The circle was very polluted indeed, and Sydney had seen so much of it she had turned numb. As for Christopher, she had no idea what he was like in private.
At the very least, on the surface, he seemed more reserved and more worthy of her respect than others.
"We can always meet and chat more next time."
Christopher''s words stunned Sydney.
Without any attempt to hide anything, Christopher said even more directly, "We can be friends and just meet casually for a chat. How does that sound?"
Sydney''s palms started sweating.
She seemed to sense something from the look in Christopher''s eyes.
In fact, Christopher deliberately let her sense it.
Just then, her phone dinged again.
Sydney nced at her phone screen, and saw a message from Wesley.
[Syd, where are you? Mom seems to be in a bad state and keeps asking for you.]
Sydney immediately put her phone back into her bag, her face turning solemn in an instant. "What''s the matter? Is something happening?" Christopher was getting worried. Sydney said, "My husband just texted me. I''m sorry, Mr. Jackson. I have to head back now."
She deliberately mentioned her husband, as if reminding Christopher about it.
Christopher nodded. "It''s gettingte. You should head back."
He stood up and said, "Let me walk you out."
The two of them turned to leave.
Sydney suddenly realized that she had forgotten to take her jacket.
Christopher beat her to it and picked up her jacket from the back of chair before draping it over her

"Thank you," Sydney said, but Christopher''s hands remained
her shoulders, with no sign of met
taking his hands away.
The two of them stood close to each other, their breaths mingling.
Sydney felt slightly nervous. She looked up and saw his handsome, mature face right before her.
The scent he emanated was mesmerizing.
Her eyes were filled with emotion as her heart started racing.
Suddenly, Christopher leaned forward, held the back of her head and kissed her lips.
