Chapter 1078

    "You..."

Geoffrey took a step forward, wanting to argue with Christopher. However, the cold look on thetter''s face made Geoffrey remember that he was here for something. He forced himself to swallow his words.

He headed straight for the couch and sat down. "Are you the one who''s investigating mypany''s ounts?"

"What is this?" Christopher said carelessly. "Are you hiding something in your ounts? A surprise spot check ispletely in line with thew. Do you have a problem with that?"

"You''re clearly doing this on purpose! Are you taking revenge on me because I''m divorcing your sister? Your sister agreed to the divorce, and I never mistreated her. Go ask her about it if you don''t believe me. You''re despicable to do this!"

"Despicable?" Christopher chuckled at Geoffrey''s words. "How dare you mention that word to me. I haven''t settled scores with you about my sister. If she hadn''t stopped me, I would have dug through your ounts a long time ago. My sister, however, is an idiot and couldn''t bear to see you hit with a crisis."

Geoffrey''s brows furrowed. "Then why are you investigating mypany? Tell me, how much do you want?"

"Trying to bribe me?" Christopher scoffed. "Do you think I need that paltry bit of money you''re offering?"

"What do you want, then? There must be a reason why you''re doing this."

Investigating apany''s ounts was no minor feat. Anyone whounched such an investigation would usually have received insider information or advanced notice of some sort.

This spot check came too suddenly, and Geoffrey was caughtpletely off-guard. He didn''t have the time to destroy so many documents. The consequences were dire if they were discovered-he might even go to jail.

Christopher leaned back against his chair and stared coldly at him. "Are you close to Sydney Harper?"

The mention of Sydney''s name made Geoffrey''s face change. "Why mention her?"

"President Harper seems to be in some trouble that you caused her."

Geoffrey''s face turned dark. "How are you rted to her?"

"It''s not what you imagine it to be. I''m not as close to her as you are, although the difference lies in that you forced yourself upon her while she avoids you like the gue."

Realization seemed to dawn on Geoffrey. He asked immediately, "You''re picking on me because of her, right?"

"Compared to my picking on you, the

things you''ve done to her are way

more frightening. Geoffrey Carter, President Harper doesn''t want to see you, so you better keep your distance, or you''ll never see the end of these investigations. I might even find something else interesting."

Geoffrey was furious that Christopher had a hold over him.

Much of his sess today relied on the Jackson family. It wasn''t difficult for Christopher to make things difficult for him.

He had done a good job dealing with X, but he didn''t expect himself to screw things up with Sydney.

He couldn''t believe Christopher had a rtionship with Sydney. How did that woman find him?

Christopher wasn''t an easy man to

deal with. A honey trap was certainly not enough to subdue him. He was well-known in the circle for being calm and unperturbed, even in the face of temptations. Many have tried to scheme against him, but all have failed.

"Sydney''s my first love. Is our rtionship any of your business? Are you trying to snatch her from me?" Geoffrey retorted.

"Hahaha...!" Christopher burst outughing. "First love? I know something about your history with her."This content ? 2024 N?velDrama.Org.

"You do? Do you know that Sydney and I..."

Geoffrey was about to mention their son, namely Sebastian. On second thought, however, he couldn''t tell Christopher about that. It was best for the Jacksons to think that Sebastian was a member of their family.
