Chapter 1237

    ?

X was stunned. She couldn''t understand why Chandra had abruptly shifted her stance.

The police officers seemed equally puzzled.

"Miss Fisher, is that really the case?" one of them asked.

"Of course," Chandra replied, her eyes shing with authority. "Do you think I''m lying? My subordinates got into a fight. I''ll deal with them myself. You officers are busy with more important matters, so there''s no need for you to handle such trivial issues."

The police exchanged uncertain nces before one of them spoke up, "We received a report that there were others involved, not just you. Where are the others?"

"They were my guests," Chandra said curtly. "After this embarrassing scene with my bodyguards, I couldn''t very well ask them to stay, so I asked them to leave. Is there anything else you need?"

The officers sensed that the situation wasn''t as simple as Chandra made it out to be. However, given her status, they knew better than to push the matter. Clearly, she didn''t want this incident to escte.

"Well then, if there''s anything else, please don''t hesitate to contact us," one of them said.

"Got it. Now, please leave. I''ll have someone clean up this mess," Chandra replied briskly.

With that, the officers left the scene.

X turned to Chandra, her expression filled with disbelief. "Mom, why did you tell them that?" She hadn''t expected her mother to let this matter go or to avoid involving the police in pursuing Rosalie and Justin.

Chandra was silent for a moment before turning to X. "I let them go, and you''re still not happy? Weren''t you the one crying and begging me to let them go? If you''re so curious, I can call the police back."

"No, that''s not what I meant," X quickly responded. "Mom, I''m d you didn''t escte things. I''m just surprised."

    She hadn''t anticipated Chandra

taking this approach. Chandra was the kind of person who usually pursued matters to the very end.novelbin

    X doubted that her mother''s

change of heart was because of her pleas. There had to be another reason, though she couldn''t figure out what it was.

"Look at how happy you are. You always side with others. I nearly died back there," Chandra said bitterly.

"You wouldn''t have," X said, linking her arm through hers. "I''ll call someone to clean up here. Let''s leave quickly."

"By the way," Chandra asked, her tone suddenly shifting, "how much do you know about that Rosalie?"

X frowned. "Mom, are you nning to go after her? Are you still holding onto this grudge?"

"X, whose daughter are you? Are

    net

you really my child?" Chandra asked, exasperated. She couldn''t believe she had raised a daughter who always seemed to side with others. She had spoiled X too much, and now it wasing back to haunt

her. "Why are you so afraiunt

    of me

going after her? Is there something you''re not telling me?"

X looked at her mother in confusion. "What are you implying? What do you think I know?"

"X, I''m serious. How much do you really know about Rosalie? Tell me."

    "Mom, I..." X hesitated.

"I''m not going to cause trouble for her. I''m just curious, I promise," Chandra assured her.

After a brief pause, X finally said, "All I know is that she''s Theodore Spencer''s ex-wife and a good friend of Sebastian''s. They eventually got married. That''s about it. I don''t even know much about Sebastian''s life, let alone Rosalie''s. Mom, with everything that''s happened, can''t we just let it go? That child is probably not Sebastian''s anyway."
