    Chapter 0550

We froze momentarily upon seeing each other. Dous awkwardly greeted me, saying, "Ms. Jones."

"Nichs, what are you trying to do now?"

Upon seeing him, I couldn''t help but feel my anger rising. Did he really think that what was online could make up for everything? What he did was childish, utterly ridiculous.

"Ariana, I brought you breakfast. You haven''t eaten yet, right?"

I was cold in my response, and Nichs'' expression dimmed slightly. He quickly masked the flicker of disappointment, raising a paper bag in his hand.

"These are all your favorites. Wendy made them herself." He opened the bag, and the neatly arranged food containers appeared before me.

Seeing him trying so carefully to please me felt strange, and I didn''t like it. His demeanor only reminded me of how much I used topromise. I endured it for four years. Could hest that long?

I pushed his hand away and said coldly, "If I remember correctly, we made things clearst night. I told you never toe here again. Never show up at my house."

I emphasized, "This is my home, Nichs."

He froze for two seconds, and he even forgot to blink. He didn''t push further as if realizing we had an audience. "Wendy''s at my ce. I was worried you might not have anything for breakfast, so please take it. I''ll leave now."

I pped his hand away as he stubbornly tried to hold it out to me. Watching as his hand reddened, my face remained expressionless.

"Take it away. I won''t eat it."

Then, I pushed him away as Dous promptly opened the car door for me.Belonging ? N?velDram/a.Org.

Nichs called out, "I know you won''t eat anything from me, but Wendy made this. Are you not even gonna eat her cooking?"

I didn''t look back. I raised my hand to close the car door, and the only response he got was a brief, indifferent thud.

I understood that there were times when things between Nichs and me were out of our control. I didn''t resist him as much as I used to.

I thought we could maintain a decent rtionship like most divorced couples did-united for the sake of the child -but I realized I was wrong.

I had misjudged the boundaries. He thought it was okay to treat his ex-wife casually. Since that was the case, unnecessary interactions should be cut offpletely.

As Dous moved from the backseat to the front, he didn''t rush to get in. He turned to Nichs.

"Mr. Hawk, it''s not that Ms. Jones won''t eat Wendy''s food. It''s because it''s from you that she refuses it."

Nichs'' eyes darkened as he stared at the car window, wishing he could burn a hole through the ss to my face at that moment. But in the end, he didn''t seed.

He simply wearily waved his hand. "Take care of her."

    Dous nodded. "I will."

When our eyes met for the third time in the rearview mirror, I couldn''t take it anymore. "If you have something to say, just say it."

"Well..." Dous responded briefly. But when it came time for him to speak, he didn''t seem to know what to say. "How about you take a break for a while? You don''t need to handle Christopher''s situation personally. Just leave it to me."

As we were talking, I noticed somemotion in front of thepany. A crowd had gathered, and I quickly told Dous not to drive into the parking lot, but to stop in front of the office building.

Someone was crying, standing in front of a group of reporters, and vowing to seek justice.
