Meanwhile, Sophia had rushed over to one of the lounges on the racing grounds to meet Tristan after
the race.
“Tristan… I’ming, Tristan!”
Sophia sometimes felt like she’d be much more youthful after meeting Tristan. Not only that, but
she’d be more fearless, too.
While living with the Beckett family, Sophia had hidden her true self and constructed a fake persona for
the past 20 years or so. She had long been fed up and tired of having to appeal to Javier every single
day.
Sophia had had enough of trying to appease a man she despised with every fiber of her being.
Tristan’s presence was like the life-giving rain that a parched, cracked desert yearned for, pletely
rejuvenating Sophia. She was deeply entranced, unable to break free from him.
With her heart pounding in excitement, Sophia shakily knocked on the lounge door. But it didn’t open
even when she knocked again and again.
In the end, Sophia barged in and locked the door behind her.
Unexpectedly, she was the only one in the room.
“What… Why isn’t he here?” Sophia mumbled.
Just then, she saw a syringe on one of the empty tables in the room.
Sophia couldn’t be more familiar with what it was-her life-saving elixir!
Her breathing quickened as she went over to grab the syringe. Before
It was as if Tristan had a hidden camera aimed right at Sophia. His phone call came at just the
opportune moment.
“Where are you, Tristan?” Sophia’s tone was filled with impatience and unbearable desire.
“There are too many eyes here in the racecourse, ma’am. I’m afraid no amount of exnation would be
able to rify any scandals if we were seen meeting one another,” Tristan exined.
He seemed especially considerate of Sophia. “It’s not an issue for me, but I’d be upset if your
reputation were affected.”
Tears of gratitude filled Sophia’s eyes. “You’re the best, Tristan. You’re the only one for me.”
“I know you’ve been going through hard times after being off from the meds, so I’ve decided to give it to
you as a gift. I hope it brings you somefort,” Tristan said.
They chatted for a short while before ending the call.
Sophia couldn’t wait any longer. Her bloodshot eyes were wide and starving as she uncapped the
syringe. She then injected the entire contents of the syringe into her arm.
“Ahh…” Sophia gasped, her eyes immediately bing hazy and distant. She melted onto the floor as
if made from butter, tears, and snot oozing out of her orifices.
It was an ugly and twisted sight to see.
Sophia was not some proud, respectable businessman’s wife at this moment. She was a mere ve to

After enjoying the high, Sophia slowly went over to the mirror to readjust herself.
Sure enough, she appeared livelier with the drugs in her system. Her skin even seemed to be smoother
than before.
For some reason, however, Sophia felt like something was off after injecting the drugs, yet she couldn’t
pinpoint what it was.
Suddenly, two knocks could be heard.
The sudden knocking on the door made Sophia jerk up in fright. Her hand sped her chest as she
hunched over, staring at the door.
“Are you in there, Madam Sophia?” Rory’s emotionless voice floated through the door, making Sophia’s
heart leap to her throat.
Sophia was suddenly so d Tristan hadn’te to their little rendezvous. How could she have
possibly hidden such an illicit rtionship?
