"Drake."
When Debra rushed outside, she spotted a ck Porsche parked at the curb and heard his order to close the car door.
The driver nced into the rearview mirror, observing Debra rush toward them. "Boss, aren''t we going to wait for Ms. Frazier?" "Drive."
"Yes, boss."
The driver pressed the gas pedal, and the car sped off, leaving Debra behind in the middle of the square.
Frustration flickered across her face. That was typical Drake.
It was not a bad thing, though. With him gone, she could explore the casino and observe its operations up close.
A smirk curled on her lips as she turned, striding back toward the building.
In the car, the driver couldn''t resist voicing his concern.
"Boss, it''s gettingte. Ms. Frazier''s out there alone, without a phone. It''s not safe."
"What''s your point?"
"Maybe we should go back and pick her up. What if something happens to her?"
Orkgate was a dangerous ce after dark, full of unsavory characters lurking in the shadows. Debra''s good looks alone could attract hunters. Drake tugged at his tie in frustration.
"Who is the boss here, you or me? Just drive the damn car."
"Understood, boss."
Back in the casino, Hand approached Debra and asked, "Where is Mr. Lowe?"
"He left to attend to some matters," she replied, ncing around. "I was going to apologize, but he was too mad to care."
Hand sighed knowingly, "True that."
Then he changed his tone into a polite one. "You must be tired after ying the piano for so long. Why don''t I take you to the second-floor lounge? You can rest for a bit, and I''ll
arrange for a car to take you back."
"Thank you, Hand," Debra said sweetly.
Hand blushed slightly, scratching his head. "No worries, Ms. Frazier. You''re Mr. Lowe''s woman now. We all look forward to working closely with you."Exclusive content ? by N?(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Debra offered a faint smile, choosing
not to correct him. It was clear these
people had already assumed she
was Drake''stest co
which
worked to her advantage.
As they navigated through the crowd, Debra asked casually, "How long have you been working here?"
"Over ten years now. If you ever need anything, just ask," he replied.
Debra asked tentatively, "Earlier, you mentioned a Miss Sharp. Who is she? Drake''s fiancée?"
Hand froze. "Fiancée? No, I haven''t heard anything official. But Miss Sharp is the pride of Orkgate. She''s admired Mr. Lowe for a long time."
He nced at Debra, noting her
calm reaction, and continued, "And Mr. Lowe has always shown her special favor. To be honest, Ms.
Frazier, it might be best to avoid
Miss Sharp when you see her if she catches wind of the rtionship between you and Mr. Lowe, things could..."
He didn''t finish his words, but his expression said it all. Drake and Miss Sharp were really close.
