Chapter 869

"Miss, would you like to buy some flowers?" A boy with a dirty face approached Debra, holding a bundle of slightly wilted flowers. Debra''s heart softened, and she was about to take the flowers from the boy when Marion suddenly grabbed the boy''s wrist.

The boy cried out in pain, dropping the flowers and revealing a hidden switchde.

Debra gasped, shocked by the sight. Marion''s voice was cold as he said, "Mugging in broad daylight? Aren''t you afraid of death?"

The boy paled with fright. He stumbled back and ran away without picking up the knife.

Debra looked at the crude but sharp de on the ground. "Why would they want to kill someone?"

"The slums here have chaoticw enforcement," Marion exined. "People do anything to survive. These kids target wealthy people, fishing for sympathy. They stab, rob, and run."

Debra frowned. "Aren''t they afraid of being reported to the police?"

"There are no cameras on this street," Marion said. "They smear dirt on their faces to avoid being recognized. With so many poor kids around, the police can''t tell them apart. Once they save enough money, the kids will try to leave this city. But they only know how to steal and rob. They won''t be able to survive any other way."

Debra fell silent, realizing she had never imagined the overseas situation to be so dire. The vast gap between the rich and the poor had created this desperate environment.

Marion noticed the pity in her eyes and gently smoothed her furrowed brow. "The situation here isplex, not something we can change. Let''s go."

Debra nodded in agreement, and Marion drove the car out of the parking garage.

She got into the car and asked, "Where are you taking me for a ride?"

"To thergest ck market," Marion replied.

ck markets were legal overseas, and thergest one among them was in the biggest skyscraper in the city center.

    When Debra and Marion arrived,

they were greeted by a staff member. "Is this your first time here?

    Are you looking to buy?

    "We''ll look around," Marion interrupted.

    or..."

Debra held his arm and took off her sunsses. "We were introduced by a friend. We heard you have more interesting things than buying stocks. Could you show us around?"

The staff member hesitated. "To ess the special areas, you need an entry pass."

"A pass? Can''t we buy it?" Debra asked.

"I''m not sure. Only our VIPs can obtain it," the staff member said apologetically. "I don''t have the authority for that."
