    ?Chapter 1891

    "Hugh!"

Ralph cried out, his eyes filled with shattered tears.

The knife''s tip had already pierced through Ralph''s coat. The sharp, icy pain had prated his skin.

Yet, as if some unseen force paused it, Jace abruptly halted.

Jace stared at Ralph''s grief-stricken face, his eyes empty and soulless. A wave of unprecedented dizziness washed over him.N?velDrama.Org: owner of this content.

In that moment of distraction, Ralph fired.

The bullet struck Jace''s knife-wielding arm. Though the pain was excruciating, the man did not utter a sound. His brow furrowed deeply as the weapon fell from his grasp.

Ralph wanted to apprehend him, but he felt weak from the fight. He could not get up from the ground, only gripping his gun tightly to prevent any counterattack.

But Jace did nothing more to him.

Instead, he helped his fallenrade and quickly disappeared into the forest.

Silence fell as if nothing had happened.

"Hugh... Is it really you? Is that you...?"

Ralph whispered, enduring the pain as he got up and called the police. "An attempted kidnapping just urred at Savrow Amusement Park. I need backup here!"

Jace and Yvonne were both seriously injured. But as they sat in the car, neither spoke a word.

Jace drove one-handed, ignoring the bullet wound in his right arm. He said coolly to Yvonne, "You need to go to the hospital."

"We have a doctor at Pivotage... They can handle it." Yvonne bled profusely, and she was slightly dazed. Jace nced at her. "You held back."

"What..." Yvonne''s longshes fluttered, her heart pounding.

    "You know what I mean."

"I''ve already told you... I won''t be a match against her. Are you suspecting me even when I got this seriously injured?"

Yvonne looked innocent, adopting a resigned attitude. "Pfft, if he wants to doubt me, he shouldn''t send me here. I''m so done with this..."

"The more he suspects, the more he''ll send you on missions. The more you go on missions, the more you''ll reveal. Mr. Iverson is very cunning." Jace spoke more than usual tonight.

Maybe the bullet wound was genuinely painful, and he sought distraction through conversation. Yvonne grew increasingly anxious. She forced herself to stay calm and shifted her focus to Jace. "Don''t just talk about me. Didn''t you hold back, too? You had a chance to kill Ralph. Why didn''t you do it?" "Once he fired the first shot, there would be a second and a third. Christopher wants me to risk my life for

him, but he doesn''t deserve it. The only person who can dictate my life is my boss."

Jace spoke indifferently, but Ralph''s cry of "Hugh" echoed persistently in his mind.

    It left him especially irritable.

"Yeah. After all, you''re the boss''s man. There''s no need to risk your life for Mr. Iverson..." Yvonne sighed bitterly, closing her eyes in exhaustion.

After a moment, she heard him murmur, "I only care about the mission. Once it''s done, I don''t concern myself with the rest."

With that, Yvonne''s heart finally settled. She whispered, "Thank you."

After leaving the amusement park, Ryan immediately sent Dean to protect Selena, the crucial witness.

Then he called back to the Hoffman Residence, only to hear that his grandfather and his secretary had both been missing since the previous night.

Given the gravity of the situation and the fact that it had not been 48 hours, they could not officially report it as a disappearance. Everyone was in a panic, awaiting Ryan''s instructions.

Ryan closed his eyes in pain.

The reality had shattered hisst bit of hope.

His grandfather was, most likely, no longer alive.

New and old grudges surged within him. At that moment, Ryan wanted nothing more than to catch Liam,

the heartless murderer, and make him pay with his life for his grandfather and father.

Ryan decided to break his agreement with Selena.

Even if she refused to testify about his father''s death out of revenge, she still had to be the witness to testify against Liam for killing his grandfather.

Just as Ryan made up his mind to call the police, Justin''s urgent call came through.

    "Ryan! Someone kidnapped Carrie!"

A thunderous roar erupted in Ryan''s mind. His already devastated heart sank to the deepest depths of despair.

"Yasmin and Ralph are doing everything they can to track the kidnappers. The location is an abandoned factory in the western suburbs. Be and I are on our way there now!"
