?Chapter 2366
Be shook her head and said, "She knows who you are, Steve. It will only create trouble if she sees you, so let''s wait and see what happens."
Inside the prison, rice was weed personally by the warden, who escorted her to the section holding inmates with mental illnesses.
"I''ve already isted him. A few days ago, he acted up and even approached Attorney Lovett, iming he needed legal assistance. Can you believe that? He must be really crazy! The warden smirked, his tone ingratiating as if fishing for praise.
"He''s mentally ill after all. It''s normal," rice replied indifferently.
She paused at the cell door, listening to the gut-wrenching screams of a man inside. Her lips curled into a cold smile. Reaching into herb coat, she pulled out a bank card and handed it to the warden. "You''ve worked hard. This is your share.
The warden eagerly epted it, thanking her profusely before leaving.
rice''s expression darkened as she pushed open the door.
The dimly lit cell reeked of dampness and rot. In the corner, a dirty bed was the backdrop for the chaos unfolding. Two medical staff restrained a man thrashing violently.
His ear-piercing howls made rice wince, forcing her to cover her ears.
After injecting him with a strong sedative, the man finally quieted down.
rice walked up to him, her heels clicking sharply against the concrete floor. Donning a mask, she leaned closer.
"Who Are... You?" The man struggled to form words, his face pale with fear.
"I''m a prison doctor," rice replied, her voice dripping with contempt. "You''re sick, and I''m here to treat you.'' "I''m... Not sick... I''m not crazy... I didn''t kill anyone... I''m innocent!" His bulging eyes and hoarse voice radiated desperation.
"Hmph! Would any of those that end up here actually be innocent?"
Without another word, rice pulled a syringe from her pocket and deftly injected the contents into his vein. "Ahhh-!" The man convulsed violently, his eyes bloodshot, his body writhing in agony.
"Prepare an ambnce," rice ordered the medical staff coldly. "The inmate is experiencing acute organ failure and requires immediate medical attention outside the prison.*
An hour passed, and rice still had note out.
Be''s unease grew, so she instructed, "Steve, go in now, but avoid rice at all costs. Say you''re there on behalf of Attorney Lovett to follow up with the inmate called Jonah Ziegler. Act natural."
Steven gave her an "okay" sign and swiftly exited the car, heading toward the prison gates.
About fifteen minutester, he returned, his expression a mix of confusion and shock.
"Ms. Be, Jonah Ziegler isn''t in the prison anymore. He''s been sent away."
"Sent away? By whom?!" Be straightened, her voice tinged with urgency.
"The guard didn''t specify, but he said Jonah had an acute medical condition and was temporarily released on medical parole.
Medical parole?
Be''s sharp mind quickly pieced the events together. rice entered the prison under the guise of a doctor, and shortly afterward, Jonah was taken out. It was too much of a coincidence.
She narrowed her eyes and said, "rice must have taken him out through the back door. For her to act so seamlessly, she must have people on the inside."
Steven scratched his head in disbelief. "So Jonah really got sick? Is there really such a coincidence?"
"There''s no such thing as pure coincidence," Be said, her tone firm. "It''s deliberate maniption."Copyright N?v/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Her mind raced, piecing together the threads.
"Jonah had just reached out to your brother for legal assistance, and now rice has moved him out of the prison to silence him. It''s obvious he knows something significant, something worth hiding. We must find him!"
