"Come on, can we talk about something positive for once?"
Jenna smacked Adler on the back of his head. "The elders from the Aldridge family were here earlier. They want Sophie''s private seal back. I''ve called you a million times, why didn''t you pick up?"
Adler rubbed the back of his head. "It''s not like I didn''t want to. It was Colby..." He nced at Colby and then sheepishly corrected himself. "It was the Costello family meeting. I had my phone on silent. I didn''t mean to ignore your calls." "Next time you don''t answer, you''re dead meat!"
"Alright, alright! It won''t happen again!" Adler quickly agreed.
Colby chimed in, "Looks like everything''s sorted out."
"Sorted out? Then what''s with this guy?" Adler pointed to Timothy, who was lying on the ground. "Why''s this guy napping here in the middle of the day?"
"I knocked him out," Sophie said. "I was worried he might overhear something he shouldn''t, so I used a bit of force."
"That doesn''t look like ''a bit'' of force." Adler looked at the bruises on Timothy''s neck. That hit could make a tiger tremble.
Jenna rolled her eyes. "Are you always this nosy? How about you handle it next time?"
Adler stood up, waving his hands. "No way, I don''t have that kind of strength. Handling fights is something Sophie and Colby are better at."
Sophie asked, "How did things go on your end? Everything smooth?"
"Smooth? It couldn''t have gone smoother!" Adler eximed. "That Johns guy wanted to take over the Costello family''s power, but look what happened to him? He got what he deserved."
Colby nodded. "Just to be safe, I bought back all the shares of Costello Corporation."
Sophie agreed. "In situations like this, it''s safest to keep the shares in our own hands."
"By the way, Sophie, what''s that you''re holding?" Adler just noticed the box in Sophie''s hands. It looked like an aged mahogany box, and judging by the family crest carved on it, it belonged to the Aldridge family.
Sophie ced the box on the table. "This is the Aldridge family''s ounts from back in the day. The elders gave it to me earlier."
"Is it the same ounts you saw at the Russell family chapel? How does the Aldridge family have a copy?" Adler was puzzled. Sophie shook her head. "I haven''t looked at it yet."
"Let''s check it out together then!"
Jenna opened the box and took out
all the ount books inside. The
pages were yellowed, showing they hadn''t been touched in years
Sophie said, "I''ll go get the Russell family''s ount books as well."
"Okay!" Seeing Sophie about to go upstairs, Colby said, "Climbing stairs is hard work, let me go instead."
Hearing this from Colby, Jenna and Adler both had indescribable expressions on their faces.
"Climbing stairs is hard work? You might as well carry her in your mouth!"Belonging ? N?velDram/a.Org.
"Okay, we''ll wait for you downstairs."
"Alright." Colby went upstairs.
Adler got goosebumps all over. "This Colby, with a wife and without a wife, is like two different people." "What was he like without a wife?"
"Without a wife..." Adler thought for a moment. Without a wife, he was like a dead man walking. Barely spoke a word, and he wasn''t the least bit sympathetic, especially towards me"
