Caelum looked as pale as a ghost when a loud ''bang'' echoed from outside the basement. Several bodyguards dressed in ck, faces hidden behind protective masks, had sted the basement door wide open. Kiran''s handcuffs were swiftly unlocked, and he vanished from the surveince footage.
Upstairs, in a second-floor room, Caelum had ordered someone to keep a close eye on Sandy, making sure she didn''t wander off. Sandy was already worried about how Kiran was holding up and sat on the bed, unsure what to do next. Suddenly, a loud noise burst from outside her door.
"Who''s there?" she asked, her face going as white as a sheet. But when she got up and saw Kiran standing in the doorway, her fears melted away. Kiran had swapped his clothes for a ck shirt, and his face looked fresh, free of yesterday''s distress, even his stubble neatly trimmed.
With a smile tugging at his lips, he stretched out his arms, "Come here."
"Brother!" Sandy eximed, flinging herself into Kiran''s arms for a big bear hug.
"Did Dad let you out?" she asked, looking up at him as he yfully ruffled her hair, leaving it a bit of a mess.
"The old man didn''t want you out, yet you dared to sneak into the basement, looking for trouble?" Kiran teased.Content protected by N?v/el(D)rama.Org.
"I was just worried about you," Sandy replied, her brow furrowing. But she quickly sensed something was up and cautiously asked, "Bro... how did you really get out?"
Outside, several armed bodyguards had shown up, looking sharp and definitely not like Pord family regrs. Kiran noticed them too. He turned, his voice cold as ice, "Clear out, don''t scare my sister." "Yes, sir," the bodyguards retreated.
Kiran then said, "I''m heading out for a few days. Want toe with me, Sandy?"
Hearing this, Sandy''s instincts kicked in. Luckily, she wasn''t the spoiled heiress she once was. She could read between the lines of what Kiran was saying. After a brief
pause, she asked, "Are you going to
face off with Sophie and the others?"
"As long as they don''t make waves, for your sake, I''ll keep things civil," Kiran replied, his voice holding a surprising touch of empathy.
"Alright! I''ll go with you," Sandy
decided. There wasn''t much point in staying here. Her brother still cared for her deeply. With her by his side, he''d be less likely to cause trouble for Sophie and the rest.
"Good girl. I''ve got a fabulous mansion lined up for you. I''d never let my little princess feel neglected," Kiran said, eyes brimming with warmth.
Sandy knew her brother could be ruthless to anyone else, but he''d never hurt her. Soon, Kiran was leading her out of the room by the hand. By then, Caelum had also stepped out of the surveince room. Facing Caelum, whose hair was stark white, Kiran''s expression was t. "Dad, I''ll take care of Sandy. It''s high time I took the reins of Pord Inc."
"Damn you!" Caelum fumed, gripping his cane tightly.
Kiran pressed on, "I''m steering the
Pord family towards greatness, isn''t that what you''ve always wanted? The family''s weak inside; without your old guard, it''d have crumbled ages ago. Counting on
Angelo, that fool? The Pord family would be history in three years. Anyone can try to stop me, but not you, because I''m the heir you''ve groomed for the Pord family."
