Kena had her own demons tied to this ce. It was right here, in the Pearl Hotel, where she had taken her father Daniel''s life, yet she always managed to keep her cool on the outside.
Outside, Pearl Hotel was its usual bustling self, peopleing and going. Sophie held Kena''s hand and led her inside. The night was getting darker, casting a shadowy glow on Sophie''s face, giving her a mysterious, almost chilly aura. Together, Kena and Sophie were like a breath of fresh air, turning heads as they walked in.
Everyone around them was stealing nces, especially since Sophie''s rocky marriage with Colby was the talk of the town. Sophie noticed the stares and responded with a faint, knowing smile. Folks were eager to see how she''d react when she ran into Colby today. But her face gave away nothing, not a flicker of emotion.
Just outside the hotel, Mr. Donny was busy greeting guests. When he spotted Sophie and Kena, he couldn''t hide his smug grin. Last time they met, Mr. Donny wasn''t even in their league. Now, here he was, the host of the evening''s shindig.
"Ms. Sophie, Mr. Gibbs, long time no see! How have you been?" Mr. Donny approached them with an eagerness that was hard to miss. Most of the guests seemed more interested in the drama than the party itself. Once, Sophie would''ve been the star of the show. But now, with the looming divorce from Colby, no one knew when things might fall apart. To them, she was just another woman, not someone to fear.
"Mr. Donny, you seem to be doing well! Where''s Timothy?" Sophie asked, ncing around as if she didn''t already know Timothy had passed. Just as expected, Mr. Donny''s face slipped for a second. Timothy had been thrown under the bus by Joseph and was now dead. Everyone in the know was aware, but no one dared to bring it up with Mr. Donny. Yet here was Sophie, doing just that.
"My son... he''s gone," Mr. Donny said, struggling to keep his voice steady.
"What happened? He was fine thest I heard. didn''t even know, Mr. Donny... my sympathies." Sophie shook her head, pretending to be genuinely sorry. Mr. Donny''s face twitched, but he held it together and showed them into the banquet hall.
All eyes were on Sophie, amazed that she had the nerve to rile up Mr. Donny?n Summerfield. With Colby out of the picture, she was on her own.
"Sophie, you''re ying with fire. This is Spellman territory," Kena warned.
"Isn''t this supposed to be Odie''s turf? Howe you never mentioned anything about the Pearl Hotel?" Sophie asked.N?vel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Kena paused. “I thought it was no
big deal, so I didn''t bring it up. Since Odie left for Devonport, Summerfield''s changed. The Spellman family snapped up Pearl Hotel almost overnight."
"When did that happen?"
"Right around the time you and Colby werest here," Kena replied, thinking back to when Odie first ran into trouble.
