Eyes locked, Murray''s deep gaze pierced into hers. "You know what I want."
Roseanne frowned.
"It''s simple. Come back to me. Don''t talk about consent forms; whatever you want, I can provide."
"That''s impossible!"
Her response was too definitive, too brisk.
"Anne..." The man let out a bitterugh. "I know you must be cursing me in your heart, calling me despicable, but I truly can''t live without you... Can''t we just start over? I promise, from now on, it''ll just be you. All the things you don''t like, I''ll change them. Just trust me once more, okay?"
With that, he eagerly reached for Roseanne''s hand.
But she mercilessly dodged his grasp.
"I don''t believe a word you say, and I certainly won''tply with your request."
She gathered her documents and pen: "I shouldn''t havee today. If you don''t want to sign, so be it."
With those words, she stood up and left, her steps both hurried and brisk.
Even though she had long given up hope on him, she was still shocked to find the man she once loved capable of such shamelessness. Upon exiting the diner, Roseanne raised her hand to hail a cab.
But before she could open the door and get in, her wrist was forcefully grabbed by the man who had chased after her, pulling her back. The driver, thinking there was some dispute, immediately drove off.
"What are you doing? Murray!"
"Leaving just like that, leaving me alone inside, I always have to watch you walk away. Roseanne, you know how to torment someone!"
"So it''s all my fault, is it? Mr. Sherwood is always innocent, always righteous? Go home, Murray, go find your mom to coddle you, I''m not obliged to!"
The man''s face turned pale, his grip on her hand tightened, his breathing erratic, but eventually, he calmed down and restrainedly spoke: "Let me take you home."
"I don''t need your ride; I can get back on my own."
"Do you always have to be so stubborn?"
"Huh, I just genuinely don''t want to see you."
Murray reached out again-
"She said she doesn''t want to, can''t you understand?" Corley suddenly appeared, standing in front of

Murray, not to be outdone, coldly scrutinized him.
"This is between her and me, you''d better not interfere!"
Corley smirked: "Her matters are my matters, and I very much intend to interfere. What are you going to do about it?"
"And who are you to interfere?!"
Corley: "Don''t know about my rank, but I''m certainly ahead of you."
Murray: "..."
Corley turned to Roseanne, his voice instantly softening: "You okay?"
She gently shook her head: "Mind giving me a lift?"
Corley: "Not at all, it would be my pleasure."
With that, he opened the car door for her.
Roseanne got in.
Murray clenched his fists, only able to watch as Corley drove her away, powerless to stop them.
But...
Did she think this was the end?
The contract wasn''t signed yet their days were far from over!
Inside the car-
Roseanne watched the bustling streets retreat through the window, her mood somber.
Noticing her gloom, Corley silently turned on some music.
"...Feeling any better?"
Roseanne: "Thanks."
"Let me tell you a joke? A nurse sees a patient drinking in the ward and goes over to caution him: ''Be careful, liver!'' The patient smiles back at her: ''Hey sweetie Funny, right?
Roseanne: "...That''s cold."
