Chapter 259

Selena''s eyes were wide with terror, her face as pale as a ghost, and her lipspletely devoid of color. In a panic, she didn''t spare a thought for Reba, the one who started all this chaos. With a voice barely above a whisper, she begged the man next to her, "Please, The man, just as panicked, didn''t waste a second. He gently scooped Selena up, ced her in the car, and the driver mmed the pedal to the floor, racing towards the nearest hospital.

get me to the hospital, hurry, my stomach... it hurts so much..."

Barely conscious, Selena was quickly lifted onto a stretcher and rushed into the emergency room. The doctor swiftly began his examination, and from the get-go, it was clear: she was pregnant and at risk of losing the baby.

Selena vaguely heard the doctor''s gentle voice, "Miss, can you hear me? What''s your name? You''re showing signs of a miscarriage; we need to contact your family."

Without a phone or any way to prove her identity, Selena struggled to open her eyes. Her family... she couldn''t let them know about this.

Even though she desperately tried to speak, her voice wouldn''t cooperate, leaving only her lips moving silently. The doctor, unaware, continued pressing for information.

    "No, don''t tell anyone."

A nurse nced at Selena, something about her seemed familiar. After a moment''s thought, it clicked, "Dr. Schmidt, I know who she is. She''s Mrs. Bet! Isn''t Josh staying in our hospital''s VVIP ward? She visits him often, and she''s so striking, I remember her!" Once the doctor knew who she was, he rxed a bit, only to tense up again almost immediately. Mrs. Bet was a VIP, and if anything happened to her or the child, Mr. Everett would hold him responsible. His job could be on the line.

With sweat starting to form on his brow, the doctor asked the nurse to quickly get Everett''s contact number from their records. The nurse hurried off and soon returned with it scribbled down.

The doctor pulled out his phone, carefully entering each number before hitting call. After several rings, a cool voice finally answered, "Who''s this?"

"Mr. Everett, hello, I''m from Mercy Hospital''s Emergency Center. Your wife was in a car ident and she''s been brought here..."

Selena''s heart nearly stopped. She couldn''t let the doctor mention her pregnancy to Everett. Driven by a fierce instinct to protect her child she somehow found the strength to knock the doctor''s phone from his hand.

The phone hit the floor with a tter, leaving the doctor momentarily speechless.

"Don''t tell him about the baby..." she almost shouted.

With that, her energy drained away, and she slumped back onto the bed.

The doctor was in a bind, "Mrs. Bet, this goes against protocol. We need to update your family about your condition, or we can''t be held liable for what happens next!" "Don''t say..." Selena''s vision blurred, her eyelids felt like lead, but she stubbornly repeated her plea.

The nurse suddenly shouted, "Doctor, she''s bleeding again!"

The doctor, drenched in sweat and out of options, reached for the phone to continue the call just as the curtain was swept aside.

A man in a crisp white coat

appeared, exuding an air of calm

authority. He took the phone from the doctor, put it to his ear, and said, "Everett, it''s me. Selena''s had a minor ident, but she''s okay. You shoulde over, just in case."

"Alright, don''t worry, I''ll keep an eye on things."

With that, he hung up and handed the phone back to the doctor, who looked pained, "You know, telling that lie puts me in a tough spot. If anything happens to Mrs. Bet or the baby, Mr. Everett won''t be happy with me." This content belongs to N?/velDra/ma.Org .
