Chapter 261

When Selena hit the ground, blood oozed from her thigh, leaving a stain on the floor. Reba must have noticed it.

Reba had started themotion and pushed her. Selena deserved some payback, but if she told Everett the truth, he would probably go to Reba for answers. His handsome face would turn icy, and Reba would spill everything.

Selena worried Reba might say something she shouldn''t, drawing Everett''s attention. He was too sharp for his own good, and Selena couldn''t afford to let her guard down.

Settling the score with Reba could wait; keeping the child a secret was her main concern now.

Selena tried to brush it off, replying casually, "It was just a little fender bender, nothing major."

    "Nothing major?"

The more Everett looked at the bandage around her head, the more t irked him. "I leave you alone for a moment, and this happens. If only you were Thumbelina, then I could carry you around in my pocket every day to keep you safe." His fingers gently traced her cheek, his deep eyes showing a flicker of concern.

He often had a way with words, especially in intimate moments, whispering things that made her blush.Property ? of N?velDrama.Org.

But sweet nothings were rare from him, and

hearing them all of a sudden made Selena''s heart race.

What girl wouldn''t love to hear sweet talk, especially from someone as handsome and smooth-voiced as Everett?

Every word tugged at her heartstrings.

Even though Selena knew deep down that Everett was just trying to charm her without really meaning it, she couldn''t stop herself from being drawn in.

Her eyes took on a yful glint.

She nuzzled her face against his hand like a kitten. "Yeah, right, I don''t buy it. You''ll get tired of me eventually."

Everett relished her yful banter, teasing herzily, "Mrs. Bet, do you have a misconception about yourself? I wouldn''t mind being attached to you 24/7. How could I ever find you annoying?" Selena was stunned.

He always managed to turn the conversation flirtatious, the rascal!

After a few more teasing words, Selena''s cheeks flushed a rosy red, making her look much more lively than the weak and weary version from earlier.

With this little diversion, the ident was pushed to the back of her mind, and Selena rxed. Her head was beginning to spin with drowsiness again.

She was still fragile and needed her rest.

"Still feeling dizzy?" Everett asked gently.

    "Mhm," she responded.

He adjusted the bed to make herfortable and carefully tucked her in. "Sleep now. I''m here with you, not going anywhere." Selena''s heart felt warm, and she slowly closed her eyes.

Everett sat by the bed, watching her, holding her hand until her breathing became steady and deep. Then, his gaze hardened.

He stood up, ced Selena''s hand under the nket, and walked out of the room, quietly closing the door behind him.

    In the hospital''s smoking area,

Everett leaned against the wall, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, lit one, and took a long drag. The nicotine did little to quell his simmering anger.

Minutester, Derick arrived in a hurry.

"Mr. Everett, I''ve got the details. Miss Reba rear-ended Mrs. Bet''s car. ording to the traffic report, she did it on purpose. She''spletely at fault."

"After the crash, Miss Reba kept provoking Mrs. Bet. At first, Mrs. Bet ignored her, but something Reba said pushed her to p Reba first. Then Reba retaliated, eventually shoving Mrs.

    Bet to the ground."

"Miss Reba only had a few scratches and didn''t evene to the hospital. After Mrs. Bet was brought in, Reba just went home."

Everett heard the whole story and flicked the ash from his cigarette with a chilling smile on his face.

So, Reba was stirring up trouble again.
