Chapter 265

A wave of nausea hit Selena out of nowhere, and her face turned pale, unable to hold back a retch.

Everett stopped what he was doing and nced up at her. "What''s wrong?"

Selena couldn''t find the words. Her hand pressed against her lips, and her delicate features scrunched up in difort.

"Feel like you''re gonna throw up?"

As soon as he said it, Everett sprang into action, wrapping her and the nket in one swift motion, and carried her to the bathroom.

The moment he set her down, Selena couldn''t hold it back any longer and hurled into the toilet.

Her eyes were watery, a vein throbbed at her temple, and she looked utterly miserable.

Everett frowned in concern, not disgust, as he crouched beside her, gently rubbing her back. His voice was husky. "Still feeling that bad? Maybe I should find a better doctor to check you out thoroughly."

Selena was weak, having barely eaten, and now vomiting bile made her too queasy to speak. But hearing Everett''s suggestion, her heart raced, and she quickly grabbed his wrist. "No."

Switching doctors would blow her cover.

Maybe her reaction was a bit too strong, as a hint of confusion flickered in Everett''s deep eyes.

The current doctor was alright, but if there was a better option, why not consider it?

Realizing her slip, Selena took a deep breath, regaining herposure. "Everett, the doctor said mild concussions can have some lingering effects."

She paused, cheeks slightly flushed, giving him a yful re. "And besides, does this mean we should change doctors? The doctor insisted on bed rest, yet here you are, fussing around. Changing doctors won''t change anything." "If the doctor asks questions, how am I supposed to exin it? How will I recover peacefully in the hospital?"

For once, the usually unppable Mr. Everett was at a loss for words.

He knew Mrs. Bet was particrly sensitive about these things. "Yes, my bad."

    Everett, rarely so earnest in

admitting fault, poured her a ss of water to rinse her mouth, wiped her face with a towel, and then carried her back to bed, making sure she wasfy and settled. He didn''t fuss over her further.

He nced at the sofa, saying, "I''ll crash there tonight. You need to rest."

Selena looked over, too, frowning. "That sofa''s too small. You can''t even stretch out. Why don''t you just..." "Mrs. Bet."

He cut her off, his dark eyes serious, his expression sincere and firm.

"Stop inviting me to share the bed. With you there, I can''t promise I won''t do anything."

He paused for a few seconds, staring right at her, and slowly added, "Selena, you''ll have to bear with it for a bit. Once you''re better, I will..."

Selena''s face turned a deep shade of red, and unable to take it anymore, she tossed a pillow at him.

"Everett, what are you thinking? I

was just just telling you to go home and sleep. There''s no need to hang around here! Who invited you, you shameless man!"

With that, she huffed and turned away, giving him the cold shoulder.

The pillow bounced off his nose, and Everett rubbed it, his dark eyes catching the sight of Selena''s

Despite everything, she was still so sensitive, like a feisty kitten reacting to the slightest tease. It waspletely endearing.

He didn''t bother her anymore, picked up the pillow from the floor, brushed it off, and stretched out on the sofa.

Just like Selena said, the sofa was narrow and short. His long legs stuck out past the armrest.
