Chapter 45 Where Does That Confidence Come From


    Ste happened to catch thest sentence, which struck her as rather odd.


    Mason wasn’t one to meddle in other’s affairs. After a couple of teasing remarks, he didn’t disclose to Ste about Cecilia’s return.


    Ste knew better than to press further, yet deep down, she harbored resentment toward Mason. She headed straight for Nathaniel.


    “Nathaniel, Easter Day is approaching. Mdm. Elena has invited us to join her for dinner tonight.”


    The woman Ste referred to was actually Nathaniel’s mother.


    Without a doubt, she were once again urging the couple to get married and to start a family soon.


    Without lifting his head, Nathaniel responded, “Got it.”


    Upon hearing this, Ste took a seat on the sofa in the office.


    “I don’t have much to do today, so I’ll be waiting for you here.”

    When Ste stepped outside to clear her mind, she found Zachary’s office to be eerily empty.


    She asked the secretary, “Has Zach not been aroundtely?”


    “Old Mr. Sinir has been busy arranging Mr. Sinir’s weddingtely, so he hasn’t been able toe,” the secretary truthfully replied.


    Wedding?


    Ste’s heart sank.


    In the past, Zachary had turned down George multiple times for her sake.


    When Ste learned about his arranged marriage, she felt an odd uneasiness in her heart.


    “Do you know who the other party is?” Ste inquired.


    Upon hearing this, the secretary thought for a moment before responding, “When the Sinir family was selecting a daughter–inw, it was like they held an open audition. Still, a woman from an average family would never attract the patriarch’s attention.”

    The turmoil within Ste’s heart gradually subsided.


    She made her way to the private lounge and couldn’t resist dialing Zachary’s number.

    On the other end, within a discreet business vehicle near Ninth Ville, Zachary was gazing out the car window. “Does she live here?” he asked.


    The bodyguard apanying him respectfully responded, “Yes.”


    Zachary was about to ask something, but then a ring from his phone interrupted him. He picked and saw that it was Ste who had called.


    Over the years, the reason he hadn’t done anything to Ste was all because of Nathaniel.


    If it weren’t for Nathaniel’s deep affection for her, she would have long ceased to exist in this world.


    Why is she calling me now?


    Zachary wanted to know if she was already aware of Cecilia’s return to the country, so he took the call. “What’s up?”


    Ste was somewhat in disbelief. In the past, she had attempted to call Zachary several times, only to be abruptly hung up on each time.


    “Zach, I heard your grandpa is nning your wedding?”


    Zachary raised an eyebrow. “You seem quite interested in my personal affairs?”


    “We’re friends, so naturally, I care about you. I’m afraid you might encounter the wrong people. Zach, if there’s a woman you’re interested in, you can tell me. That way, I can help you keep an eye on things.”

    Zachary scoffed. “Keep an eye? Where does that confidencee from? Don’t forget, in my grandfather’s eyes, you’re just an actress. Not only will he be dissatisfied with the woman you’ve chosen, but I doubt she’ll fit into my circles either. You should know that better than anyone.”


    After Zachary hung up the phone, Ste’s face instantly turned ashen, looking extremely upset.
