I used to envy you, Cecilia, but now, I pity you. I pity you for the loss of your father and the downfall of your family. I pity you because even though your mother is alive, it feels just like not having one at all.”


    Ste lifted her hand and held Cecilia’s shoulder. Smiling radiantly, she asked, “After all these years, do you know where Pa and your younger brother have gone? If you don’t want them to find out you’re back, then get lost back overseas! Someone like you who has lost everything should rightfully stay overseas and never return, understand?”
