CH.11 Talks with the Guild Master
“Hello, my name is Brian.”
“Nice to meet you Brian. I’m the guild master of Alewatch. My name is Alexander, but please call me Lex.” The guild master seemed a lot more gentle with me than he was with Zayaan. Is that because I’m new in town or because Zay said that I took down the bison? “So did you really take down a horned bison solo? Not to insult you but you don’t seem that strong. And you are unarmed.”
“Well it wasn’t exactly me. My summoned beasts were the ones that took it down.” I answered the guild master.
“So you are a summoner. That would exin things. Well the problem is dealt with and everyone returned safely, so let’s just go take a look at that bison so I can call it a day.” The guild master didn’t question me any more than that. Is he tired or justzy? Well the saying goes thatziness brings efficiency.
As the guild master got up from his desk, I got a better look at his body structure. He is just a little shorter than me and he is very lean. I was expecting the guild master to have a little bit of a stomach but he either exercises a lot or just doesn’t eat that much. Actually didn’t Zayaan say something about him picking up the night girls every day or something? That might be good exercise especially if he goes multiple rounds with the girls.
We follow the guild master back down the stairs and to arge warehouse that is located behind the counter. In the warehouse I saw Alex and Lucia, there was also a man that I think is in histe thirties. Unlike the lean guild master, this man who I assume is William, is a mass of muscle. He is also huge. Like over two meters tall huge. Is he even a human or some kind of little giant. He honestly looks like he wouldpete in the world strongest manpetition. He was taking apart the bison wielding arge knife. At that size it’s basically a sword. It’s just a little too thin and would most likely break if used aggressively against something. It looks like a tuna knife, except the handle. That handle looks to beyered leather, not wood. Well just because the handle is different doesn’t mean that the de is.
The horned bison that we brought in has already had its hide removed and this giant of a man is in the process of cutting it down into usable chucks. Or usable cuts of meat. Lucia is off to the side washing the hide. So she even helps with the curing process. Mages really are amazing. Actually, Zay said she was a witch, so witches are amazing.
“It really isrge.” The guild master said when he saw the bison.
“Oh, guild master. Is there something you need?” As the butcher heard the guild master, he paused his work and turned to look at us.
“Oh, no there’s nothing. I just came to have a look before heading home for the day.” The guild master gave a quick answer.
“This thing is in very good condition. It only had one hole in its hide. You better make sure to pay a little extra for it.” The butcher said trying to help ‘Prime Rib’ to get a better reward.
“Really? Then only one attack took it down?” The guild master seemed surprised to hear that only one attack had taken this thing down. I guess it really was a perfect attack.
“Yeah, a spear thrust straight through the spine. I’ve never seen one killed like that. Getting on this things back must have been challenging. And then to thrust a spear with enough power to break the spine. That is not easy.” As the butcher said that he looked at me. “And I heard this neer is the one who did it. How did you manage that?”
“I had one of my summoned monsters hold it down and summoned another one in the air above it. Falling spear thrust to the back of a bison killed it.” I gave a quick answer.
“You must be skilled and have great summons to be able to do something like that.” The butcherplimented me.
“So you are going to take care of the bison from here on, right William? I’m heading home for the day, so see you tomorrow.” The guild master saw his chance to escape and took it.
“Sure. We should be fine.” The butcher answered. “Just make sure to increase the reward for this.”
“Fine.” The guild master agreed.
“Actually I have something I would like to talk about with you guild master. Could you spare just a little more time for me?” I called out to the guild master before he managed to escape.
“Fine, just make it quick.” (guild master)
“Could we head back to your room? I’m not sure we should talk about it here.” I asked.
“Fine.” the guild master answered and we headed towards the stairs to the second floor.
I hope ‘Prime Rib’ will wait for this to be over and doesn’t run out with my money. I need that to pay for my stay at an inn.
As we made our way past the counter the guild master called out to one of the receptionists and said. “William told us to increase the reward for the bison. Process it.”
“Of course. How much?” The receptionist responded.
“Go ask William.” The guild master responded.
We made our way back to the Guild Master’s office.
—
“So what is it that you still want?” (guild master)
“Two things actually. I’m not a member of the guild and I would like to join.” (Brian)
“Yeah that is easy and wouldn’t really require me would it?” (guild master)
“Yeah the other thing is what I think I should tell you and why I requested that wee back to your office. I have located and eliminated a rogue dungeon.” (Brian)
“... No you didn’t. That’s impossible.” (guild master)
“Yes I did.” (Brian)
“And I say you didn’t.” (guild master)
“Is this really the attitude you should have about this? If you aren’t going to act on this information I will find someone who will.” (Brian)
“Trying to force my hand now, are you? I could prevent you from bing an adventurer if that is how you are going to y.” (guild master)
“And then I just have to report you to a higher ranking guild master or a noble. You really should think before letting yourziness take over your brain. Or is your pp just so full of it that it has emptied your head?” (Brian)
“That damn Zayaan. He really just loves to cause problems for me.” (guild master)
“You really need to retire, you whining old man. Do you really do this job just so you can pick up multiple girls every evening? Your life is a joke.” (Brian)
“Get out of my office. NOW!” (guild master)
“Fine. You will be out of a job before the end of the week.” I turn around and walk out. Then I mutter in a small voice. “What day of the week is it anyway?”
I didn’t expect an answer but my ever loyal system support gave one immediately.
(It is wednesday Master)
(Thank you)
—
I head back down the stairs and meet up with ‘Prime Rib’. They are sitting by one of the tables and drinking some sort of alkohol. Except Lucia, she is drinking from her own sk. Isn’t that the blood sk? Is she really drinking blood?
“Hey Brian, get over here.” Zay called out to me as he spotted me. “So how did the talks with the GM go?”
“Not as nned. He got angry and forced me out.” I answered.
“What? Really? He almost never does that. What did you ask of him? To be made a B-rank or something?” Zay questioned me.
“No. I did talk about joining, but nothing about my rank. Now I need to find someone else to help me with a little problem. I was really not expecting the guild master''s reaction.” (Brian)
“What the hell do you know that makes him react that way? You are not his child or something like that?” Zay got super flustered when he said that.
“If I was, it wouldn’t be something someone else could help me with now would it.” (Brian)
“Good point. So what is it? Can you tell us?” (Zay)
“I’m kind of unsure. I should tell someone but I’m not sure that you are the best choice. I was nning on heading to the Watchman manor tomorrow and hoping they might be able to help with it.” (Brian)
“You really have something so big that after a guild master refuses the next you think of going to is a noble. Now I just need to know.” Zay said, sounding super excited.
“You can trust him to keep it a secret. He is nning on bing the next guild master after the current one finally let’s go.” Alex spoke up trying to make me trust Zayaan enough.
“Yes, Zayaan can keep a secret.” Even Lucia spoke good about their party leader. Rico was too focused on drinking toment. Or he just didn’t care enough because money wasn’t involved.
“So you promise you won''t freak out or anything. Like it could be bad if you do, you understand that right?” I drive this point home to Zay.
“Yeah. I will keep my mouth shut. I promise.” Zayaan promised so I guess I can trust him. If he really is aiming at bing a GM this might be the thing that gets him there. But he hasn’t even given me my portion of money yet. I should ask for that first.
“Fine, I''ll trust you. But can I get my portion of the bison money first?” I ask Zayaan.
“Sure.” He pulls out a small bag. “Here you go. 4 gold and 5rge silver is your half of the sale. We got an extra 2 gold in total due to the condition of the bison.”
Rico looked up from his drink with jealous eyes for just a second. I guess he would have liked an extra gold coin to y with.
“Thank you.” I said to Zay, I then moved closer to him so I could whisper in his ear.
“I found and eliminated a rogue dungeon.”
“WHAT!?”
Really? I asked you to not freak out. And you just have to freak out.
