I followed Christina towards the front door. Alice had gotten up and followed after me as well.

At the door I saw a drenched guild employee. Isn’t she the one that Zayaan loves?

“Brian.” She called out to me as she saw me. “The guild master is asking for you.”

“Isn’t the guild master out of town?” I asked jokingly. I saw the girl''s eyes water even more as I said that. I guess too soon to joke about someone who is missing. “Sorry.” I added.

“Brian.” Christina turned to face me. “Do you know something?”

“Yeah. I got a system mission.” I responded. “I assume she is here for the same reason.”

“You already know?” The girl asked with tears in her eyes. “Why didn’t you make a report on it?”

“I didn’t have time. I just learned about it.” I said to her.

“About what? What’s going on?” Alice asked.

“Your father’s group was attacked by thunder sprites.” I responded.

“““WHAT?””” All three of them yelled out.

“Yeah, that’s what the system mission told me.” I said to them.

“What else do you know? Do you know where they are? Are they hurt? Please tell me.” The receptionist asked me.

“I’m sorry, but all I know is that they were on their way here and were attacked by thunder sprites.” I admitted.

“Then we must send out a search party immediately.” The receptionist said. “Madam Watchman, may we use some guards for that as well?”

“We are already low on avable guards as some of them are with my husband already.” Christina told her.

“Then we’ll have to do it without them. Let’s head to the guild and form the search party.”

“Alice, please stay here.” Christina said to her daughter after Alice said she wanted toe with us.

“But I want toe.” She was insisting.

“We are not going on a joy ride.” Christina told her.

“I know. But still.” Alice insisted.

“Alice.” I called her as I walked up to her. “Please stay here. We are already worried about other people and your mother and I don’t need anything more to worry about.”

“But I will be fine. Wouldn’t I? As long as I’m with you, nothing bad can happen.” Alice argued.

“But you might not be able to stick with me. We are searching for missing people so we will most likely split up.” I told Alice.

“But then you’ll need me. My father is also missing.” She said.

“Alice!” Christina said. “Please. Just stay here.”

“We’ll be back.” I said to Alice as I hugged her lightly. “Just wait for us. We’ll bring everyone home.”

    “Do you promise?” Alice asked.

    “I promise.” I told her.

I hope I can keep that promise.

We walked in the rain. I almost summoned Overdrive to take us to the guild, but I might need itter and it’s not in a toploader so the long cooldown might be a problem. Actually, I haven’t opened the packs for today, but now is not the time for that.

We were drenched by the time we reached the guild. Even with the cloaks we took from the manor and my magical clothing, I was soaked. Perhaps my clothes can’t resist water like they resist almost everything else. They might have enchantments only for anti-grime or something like that.

“Madam Watchman, wee.” The guild master weed us. Or perhaps I should call him the ex-guild master. “Were you informed of the situation?”

“Guild master. We have new information.” The employee told the GM.

“Oh, where did you get some?” The GM asked.

“Brian.” She looked at me as she said my name.

The GM and the few adventurers present turned to face me. Lucia and Alex were here as well as two members of Diamond Sword. I guess they are the high-rankers that would be called on in a situation like this.

“Brian? What do you know?” The GM asked.

“I got a system mission about it. It said they were attacked by thunder sprites.” I told them.

“...” Everyone in the guild went silent.

“I thought it was possible, but I didn’t want to consider it.” The GM said. “We need to find them fast.”

Everyone turned to look at me. …why? Don’t stare at me like I’m some sort of a savior or hero. Stop. Please. Last time I gave orders people almost died. I can’t deal with that pressure again.

“...why are you looking at me?” I asked.

“You are the one that knows the most, so you shoulde up with the n.” The GM said.

“I know nothing more than you. I actually know less, because I don’t know the surrounding areas or the route the baron’s group would have taken.” I argued. “I don’t even know if they are in the south or north.”

I know there were two main roads leaving Alewatch, one north and one south. But I have no idea where the city they went to is.

“I see… I suppose that might be an issue.” The GM admitted.

As the GM and Christina wereing up with a n, Lucia came to talk to me.

“Brian, let me dry you up.” She said.

    “Sure. Thank you.” I responded.

“Water, flow as I will, Water control.” Lucia cast a spell. I felt the water leave my clothes. Being dry feels a lot better.

    “Thank you.”

“I think I should be thanking you. This morning I noticed my blood magic had evolved into true blood magic.” She told me.

“What? Already? You are so skilled.” I told her.

“It’s all thanks to you. And I’m still learning from Lady Cam.” She told me.

Cam? Wasn’t that the name of the vampire shadow rider in GX? Is that the name of Vampire Lady?

“Still, learning it this fast means you must be a natural.” Iplimented her.

“Thank you. I’ll work hard so that I can cure the curse on other dhampirs.” She told me.

“You know you can rely on my summons for that as well.” I told her.

“I will, but I would also like to be able to do it on my own.” She said.

I think it’s good that she has the drive for it, but that does mean less free vampire cards to me. I guess I should still be happy.

“Well, until you can do it, please call on me when necessary.” I told her.

“Then, would youe on a trip with me?” Lucia asked. “We can visit the dhampir sanctuaries and cure the dhampirs living in them.”

“Yeah, I think I will. As long as we can stop at ces I want to stop at as well.” I told her.

“Sure. We’ll make a party and go on an adventure.” Lucia said.

“Yeah, let’s do it.” I said to her.

“Brian!” Christina called for me. “Can youe over here?”

“And I’m needed again.” I said to Lucia as I walked up to the two in charge.

“You want that?” I asked. “Isn’t it a bit risky?”

“I know it is, but it is also the fastest way we have to move. Your dragons can be used to fly and that will make the search a lot faster.” The GM told me.

“But how will we spot them in this rain?” I asked.

“As long as they have a fire of any kind, we will spot it. And we should be able to spot the carriages they were riding as well.” He told me.

“... okay, fine. But how will we split up on them? I’ll be riding the white one and I can take one person on it with me. But how about the ck one? Also at least one person riding on the ck one needs to have the ‘Card summoner’ skill.” I told them.

“Card summoner? I’ve never heard of that skill.” The GM said.

“It’s an extra skill that works with my unique one.” I gave a quick exnation. “Lucia and Alex both have it.”

“I see. Then I’ll have Lucia with you and Alex with Wolf.” The GM said. “Is that fine with you?”

    Wolf? Who’s that?

“That’s fine, but who is Wolf?” I responded.

“How do you not know him? Wolf.” The GM called for him.

“What is it?” One of the diamond sword members came to us. He had arge bow with him.

“That is Wolf. How do you not know the high ranking adventurers in this town?” The GM asked.

“How would I? No one ever introduces themselves to me.” I told him.

I only knew Prime Rib as they all introduced themselves to me when we first met. Then I suddenly got famous and everyone knew me, so no one introduced themselves to me naturally.

We had moved to the northern gate, where we were going to take off.

“Well, the basic idea is there. We’ll send the two groups on dragons to search from the air. As well as a couple of us on the ground with horses.” The GM said. “We will use magic as a signal when we find them. Any questions?”

Everyone had heard the n and now it was just about executing it. I took that opportunity to sack five more cards so I could make another toploader. Luckily I had three sleeves in storage from a few days ago. That way I could upgrade the sleeve on Red-Eyes to a toploader.

(2x The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams, 3x The Portrait''s Secret) (The three other sleeves are leftovers from CH.65)

“Brian, are you sure this is safe?” Alex asked as he was climbing to the back of Red-Eyes.

“Probably.” I told him. “Don’t lose my card.”

“Is that what you are worried about?”

“Yes, that is exactly what I’m worried about.” I told him. “I don’t want a card that can summon a dragon to just be floating around. And if you let go of the card, there is a possibility that Red-Eyes will be unsummoned and you will fall to your death.”

“Didn’t you think you should mention that earlier?” Alex asked in a panicked voice.

“Just hold onto the card and you’ll be fine.” I said to him as I turned towards my dragon.

Well, technically they are both mine. I didn’t agree to permanently handing over that one. I need more dragons before I hand them out like that. And I would never give away a Blue-Eyes, even if I had an army of them. Only I (and perhaps a beautifuldy) can ride them.

“Brian, please find them.” Christina said to me as I got to the back of Blue-Eyes.

“I’ll do my best.” I told her. “Lucia, are you ready to take off?”

    “Yes, let’s go.”
