CH.152 What to Specialize in
“So, what kind of fighting styles do you two use?” The dwarfdy asked. “And what kind of weapons do you use?”
“I’m a mage.” Alice said as she pulled her staff out of her fanny pack. She doesn’t actually use it inbat, as the treant staff isn’t ready for use yet, but still.
“I … I’m a summoner. But I sometimes also fight on the front lines.” I said.
“A summoner, eh. I see. Fighting alongside your beasts. It is the popr style.” The dwarf said. “What weapon do you use?”
“Oh right. This.” I said as I pulled my mithril sword out of my fanny pack.
“An arming sword. May I take a look at it?” The dwarf asked.
“Sure.” I said and handed it over.
She pulled the sword out of the scabbard and looked at it.
“Mithril. Well made. Enchanted. Light attribute, I believe.” She listed some of the sword''s abilities just by holding it in her hand. “Who made this?”
“It’s from a dungeon.” I answered.
“I see. I thought it might be.” She said as she sheath the sword.
“Thought? But still asked about the maker? Why would you even think it is dungeon made?” I asked.
“That.” She said and pointed at my duel disk. “It’s orichalcum, isn’t it?”
… is it? I have no clue. Laura. (Is that true?)
(Yes. It is made of orichalcum.) Laura confirmed.
“... I think it is.” I said, not confirming or nor denying the im.
“I thought as much. It’s a dungeon master’s terminal, right?” She asked.
“Why would you think that?” I asked.
“There are only two ces that I know of where you can get orichalcum and I highly doubt that you would use the other, so you must have gotten it from a dungeon when you were made a master. I know some dungeon masters can transform their terminals, so something like that is doable for them.” The dwarf said.
She seems to know a lot about this stuff. Of course she is somewhat wrong, as I got it when I became the founder, but founder and master aren’t that different.
(Yes they are.) Laura said.
(Doesn’t matter at this moment. Both founders and masters have a terminal.) I said back.
Actually, if a master can alter their terminal, perhaps Christina can alter hers. Maybe if she gets enough favor with the dungeon or something. Even mine got improved from the DiaDhank to an actual duel disk. Perhaps Christina can eventually make hers into a DiaDhank or a duel disk.
“Well, you are correct, but does it matter?” I asked.
“No. No it doesn’t. But I was wondering about the shape. And these pictures on it.” The dwarf said.
“It helps with my summonings.” I said.
“I see. So a shield would be unusable for you as you need this on your left arm.” The dwarf deduced.
“No, I actually have a shield already.” I said.
“Oh, you do? May I see it?” The dwarf asked.
I checked the size of the shop. It isn’t small, but there are swords and pieces of armor everywhere, so I might not want to summon a giant shield here.
“Is something the matter?” The dwarf asked. “You don’t have to show me the shield if you don’t want to.”
“No, it’s just… it won’t fit into the shop.” I said.
“What!? What kind of shield do you use?” The dwarf asked.
“If we go outside, I can show you.” I told her.

The dwarf led us outside the shop. We were going to the backyard, but as she didn’t want to disrupt the workers in the back, she led us out the front door and around the building. On doing so, we passed the ce where I had left Overdrive.
“Whose carriage is this?” The dwarf wondered as she looked at Overdrive.
“Mine actually.” I said.
“Yours? I didn’t think dungeon masters are paid that much. I’m in the wrong business.” The dwarf said.
“Well, I didn’t exactly buy it. It was more like a gift.” I said. A gift from my skill.

“Millennium Shield.” I summoned my shield. The backyard wasn’trge, but there was more than enough space for my shield.
There were some broken earth dummies on the ground, seemingly left there after someone had sliced them into pieces with a sword or some other weapon.
“... How did you do that?” The dwarfdy asked after Millennium Shield appeared.
“Summoning magic.” I answered.
“... I didn’t know you could summon shields with it.” The dwarf said.
“Well, I might be the only one who can summon a shield.” I admitted.
“Hmm. I see. Well, considering the size of this shield, I’d say that focusing on it and your summoning is the bestbination. But at the same time, you might want to just hang back with the protection from the shield and use your summons to fight for you. Fighting with them can be dangerous and you have no reason to put yourself in danger. Unless your other summons aren’t strong enough.” The dwarfdy said.
“No. They are plenty strong.” I said. Perhaps a little too strong in some cases.
“Then you absolutely should hang back. Don’t be a hero just because you think it is cool.” The dwarf said. “Let’s go back inside. I think I have something for you two.”

“For you miss, I have a mage’s cloak. It improves your mana recovery and has some defense against arrows and magic. But it doesn’t do well against melee attacks.” The dwarfdy said as she brought out a dark blue cloak. “It is alsopletely waterproof, so you don’t need another cloak in case of rain.” She added. Remember that Alice already has a lightly armored jacket from her parents
“Th-Thank you.” Alice said as she tried to cloak on. The dark blue made a nice contrast with her blond hair.
“You should also visit this shop.” The dwarf said as she handed Alice something like a business card. “They specialize in making clothing for magicians and they can help you get some better stuff. It won’t help your defense, but will help your offensive power.”
“Yes. I will.” Alice said.
“Now for you.” She turned to me. “If you really want to keep fighting on the frontline with that huge shield, you should get a full suit of armor. It will definitely keep you the most safe.” The dwarf said.
“Yeah, no. I’d be too slow.” I said. It’s not that I don’t like the idea at all, but it would have to have more utility.
“I thought you would say that.” She said. “Then the best is probably this.” She pulled out a leather jacket of some kind. “This one is made of orc hide, but it can be made of other materials. It has slots for thin metal tes that will help in absorbing damage from all sources. This type of armor is generally liked by mobile adventurers. It will allow you both to act in the backline, but also go to the frontlines with your shield. But please do note that being decent at everything is worse than being really good at something.”
… so it’s kind of like a te carrier. It had slots for tes in the front, back, sides and upper and lower arms. It might be a bit much, but it should be better than full armor.
I tried it on and it was … fine, but the orc leather really didn’t feel that nice. I also analyzed it while I was wearing it, in case I can recreate a better version of it with the dungeon. I should actually just summon out many of my monsters and analyze their weapons and armor so I can hopefully recreate it with the dungeon. That way, I can make what feels the best for me.
“I like the style, but I don’t like the material.” I said to the dwarf. “It’s also a bit heavier than I would like.”
“We could make it out of higher ss materials, but it will cost a lot.” The dwarf offered. “We could also use mithril instead of steel, as it is a bit lighter. And we could enchant the armor with lightness.”
“Thanks. I’ll think about it, but I won’t buy anything for myself today.” I said. “We will take that cloak though.”
“I see. The cloak will be 43 gold coins.” The dwarf said.
As Alice didn’t have that much, I ended up paying for it.

“Pleasee again.” The dwarf wished us off. “And you’d better have made up your mind by next time.” She added.
I didn’t really mean to rush out like that, but I realized (Laura reminded me) that if we shop for any longer, we won’t make it back to the manor before my time with Overdrive runs out.
“Brian, are you sure you shouldn’t have bought something?” Alice asked.
“It should be fine.” I said. “I can keep myself safe with my cards most of the time. And as long as I stay back, I should bepletely safe.”
“Actually, I wanted to ask about that. The manticore roar thing.” Alice said.
“Oh. Threatening Roar? It is this.” I said as I got the card out of collection and handed it to Alice.
“... it’s gray.” Alice said as she took it.
“Yeah. That’s because it can’t be used at the moment. It will regain its color tomorrow and then I can use it again.” I said.
“But how did you use it? I don’t think you said its name.” Alice said.
“I can do it because of Pack Opener. If I set the cards in a certain way, I can have them activate on their own with no additional input from me. That card activated because the orc tried to attack me. Then it caused that roar that stunned the orcs.” I exined.
“That seems extremely useful. Why didn’t you tell me about it? You could have given me something like that.” Alice said.
“I just … never tested if it even works. Now I know that it works, I’ll probably set something on you, if you don’t mind. Having safetys like that isn’t a bad thing.” I said.
“Will that be my reward for the orc hunting mission?” Alice asked.
“Sure. We can do that.” I agreed. “But could you wait until tomorrow for that? I don’t have any sleeves or toploaders at the moment and I will get more tomorrow.”
“I can, but what are sleeves? And toploaders?” Alice asked.
I took out a couple more cards from the collection. The Trojan Horse was what I used as an example of a sleeved card. I already had Threatening Roar out as a toploader card. And I got my ssic Beaver Warrior as an example of a card without either.
I quickly exined the basic rules of the cards, like being able to reuse them and stuff. I did mention that toploader monsters cane back if they die, so that Alice would be willing to sacrifice Dark Magician Girl or Getsu Fuhma for her own survival.

I drove us back to the manor and we got pulled over once again. But this time it resulted in getting a knight escort back to the manor gates. With one more show of the mithril medal, we were past the gate and I drove up to the main door.
I also heard a knight saying: “At least he used a carriage this time.” They did say some … not so kind things about not having one yesterday.
I had my fairies that had been sleeping on Paulina’sp wake both themselves and Paulina up. Honestly, there has to be a more gentle way of waking someone up than pulling their ears. At least they weren’t pulling her hair out.
“Good … I was going to say morning, but it is actually evening.” I said to Paulina as she was waking up.
“...what? Where?” She was muttering.
“You are sleeping in my car. And we just got back to the manor. So let’s head inside. I think it’s about time for dinner.” I told her.
As we got out of Overdrive, I saw two maids walk out of the manor to wee us.

As dinner wasn’t ready to be served yet, I was going to take this opportunity to use my other copy of Lighten the Load for four more pack tokens.
The tributes for that card were two copies of St. Joan, one Suijin and one Humanoid Worm Drake. They were all extra copies, so I don''t mind getting rid of them.

(So, Laura, about this idea you spoke about earlier. What cards do we need for it?) I asked Laura. I have four pack tokens, so if I’m lucky, I’ll get what I need.
(You already have everything you need for the first idea I have.) Laura said. (But a second copy of Different Dimension Gate from Dark Crisis might be necessary for the second idea.)
(Okay. Dark Crisis it is then.) I decided.
(It is also in Dark Revtion Volume 1, so we could use the toploader Good Goblin Housekeeping and go for that instead.) Laura said.
(Oh. Nice call. Let’s do that instead.)

(Now back to this idea of yours.) I went back to Laura. (What is it?)
(First, we take Dark Factory of Mass Production. Then we install Different Dimension Gate into it. And then install that card into you, Master.) Laura said.
… excuse me, What? Install a spell into a spell and install that spell into me?
(Is that safe?) I asked.
(As far as I know, it should be.) Laura said.
(... well, I’ll at least do the first part.) I agreed with her.
I took Dark Factory of Mass Production and Different Dimension Gate from the collection.
(Dark Factory is the host card, right?) I confirmed.
(Yes. Install Different Dimension Gate into Dark Factory of Mass Production.) Laura confirmed.
“Install.” I did as she instructed.
The cards shined brightly andbined into one card.
The resulting card was Different Dimension Factory.
