CH.390 Wilma vs. Challenge Room

“I got it.” I told the two when I got out of the challenge room, showing them the skill orb.

“Nice. How difficult was it?” Ria asked.

“You got it on the first try? I thought you’d have to try multiple times.” Wilma added.

“I can show you the recordingter, but it was somewhat difficult. The main part I hate is having to purposefully take some hits, but just had to do it.”

“I really don’t understand why taking hits is required for a better reward.” Wilma said.

“It isn’t, normally. If you want a ‘perfect’ score of 0.99999, taking a hit actually gets in the way. But if you want the chance to go over 1, you need to take some hits. Honestly the entire form for how the drops are calcted is a mess.”

“But it doesn’t matter to us because you can make more of those skill orbs, right?” Ria asked.

“Exactly. But it is nice to know that now the rollover can give you the skill orb if you already have Card Summoner.”

“... how expensive do you think those Card Summoner skill orbs will be?” Wilma asked.

“Honestly, no clue. I could see them being anything from like 20 gold coins all the way up to hundreds of gold. It all just depends on how well you know me, because, and I know I’ve said this before, Card Summoner is useless without a card from me.”

We decided to go up a floor, just so Wilma would have a little easier time with the challenge room. She can most likely take on a B-rank monster, but going up a floor is still better for safety.

Ria and I basically rolled through floor 6, clearing away the monsters on our way, and when we reached the challenge room, I opened the door for Wilma and of course opened up Dungeon Founder so we could watch.

The opponents that spawned to oppose Wilma were quite familiar, as I just took on not too different of a group yesterday. Her opponents were three skeleton knights and one skeleton mage. Not an easy opponent, but it should be manageable.

Wilma started off the fight doing something I didn’t expect at all. She opened her Item Box and pulled out a ss sk holding some sort of liquid. The liquid let off a faint silvery glow. She then shook the container for a second, before throwing it at the skeletons. It burst open midair, the contents raining down on the skeletons.

The mysterious liquid seemed to weaken the skeletons a lot, and was even damaging them.

(Don’t call it mysterious. It is standard holy water. Wilma asked Albus for some in preparation for the dungeon.) Laura told me.

… Fine. So the not so mysterious holy water rained down on the skeletons.

Wilma took advantage of the weak skeletons, moving in and hitting them with her hammer. Because of the damage they were still actively taking from the holy water, they didn’t defend well and Wilma’s hammer strikes sent the skeleton knights flying, while also putting some nice dents into their armor.

She then turned towards the skeleton mage, blocking a few fire spears with her shield while she approached and then smacked the skeleton mages skull with her hammer. The skull cracked a bit, but didn’t fully shatter, so Wilma wound her hammer back for a second strike, bringing it down on the skeleton mage again, this timepletely crushing its skull.

Wilma then pulled out another sk of holy water and threw it at the skeleton knights. She followed right behind the holy water, striking one skeleton with her hammer, while using her shield to hold back another one. After sending the skeleton flying with her hammer, she rushed at the other one with her shield and shield bashed the skeleton, toppeling it to the ground. She then struck it with her hammer and the skeleton dusted away. With that, two skeleton knights remained.

Wilma focused on the closer of the two, the one she didn’t just send flying. She used the same shield bash to hammer strikebo to take it down.

“Stone, be my weapon, Stone Toss.” Wilma chanted an earth spell, sending arge rock flying at thest skeleton, following behind the flying rock.

Using the opening the rock caused, she used her hammer to strike at the skeleton knight, crushing its chest area and the skeleton began to dust away.

“Brian, why does this dungeon drop mithril hammers?” Wilma asked when she came back, holding a mithril hammer in her hands.

    “Because why not?” I asked.

“Don’t you know that using mithril for a hammer is a massive waste. It just doesn’t weigh enough.”

“... well, you can always break it down and reuse the mithril.”

“What a waste. You really should fix that.” Wilmained.

“I can try. Let’s head back to the core. I want to try hacking it.”

“... can I head up a floor? I want to smash more skeletons.” Ria asked.

“Sorry but no. Diamond Sword ising and I don’t want to steal all the monsters from them.”

“Oh? Maybe I should challenge them?”

“Not here. If you want to, you can ask them for a matchter at the adventurers’ guild.”

    “F~Fine.”

With Ria in agreement, we headed back down towards the dungeon’s core.

There I used Enemy Controller to take an even better control of the dungeon so that I could see if I can actually force the dungeon core into making me Card Summoner skill orbs.

    Spoiler

    [copse]

After a bit of messing around, I ended up seeding in it. The dungeon core could be forced to make a Card Summoner skill orb, but at the price of 200,000 generation points, it is anything but cheap. Forparison, a magic fanny pack costs 2500 points and my mithril sword costs 11,600 points. Well the current Wilma upgraded form would cost a bit more, but when I made it, it cost 11,600 points.

I did have enough points for one, but just one, so I decided I wouldn’t make it for now. I might make itter when I’ve seen how much HomeBase version costs.

After the dungeon, we didn’t head straight to HomeBase, but instead headed to Alewatch. I was just going to have a quick chat with Lawrence, as I wanted to know if he had epted my offer.

His store was even more empty thanst time, and I did get an answer from him. He was going to wait until his son came back from his current deployment by the Bakpany, then speak with him before closing the store.

I then asked if he had an idea for his assistant and he did admit that he had a few, but that they weren’t people living in this town, so he would have to visit themter. I promised him that if he wanted to travel somewhere, he could borrow an airship and a pilot from me. I’m not sending him out without a pilot for now.

After that, we headed back to HomeBase. I had a few things to take care of there, starting with the Card Summoner skill orb.

I headed for the true core of the dungeon, just in case there were any problems, and had the core analyze the skill orb. I was then shown the resources required to make more.

In all honesty, it wasn’t as bad as I feared. It costs 13,800 mana, 2350 miasma and about 5 hours worth of creation energy to make one Card Summoner skill orb. And yes, I do love the fact that I measure creation energy in terms of time, while miasma and mana are measured in quantity. Time is just the best way to measure creation energy, as it is a passively made resource. I get a said amount of it per hour, and I can’t really influence the amount I get.

Oh and if you want aparison, the Card Summoner skill orb is actually cheaper than something like Health Conscious or Space Magic skill orbs. But naturally it is more expensive than Sword Technique or Mana Control skill orbs. But when ites to extra skills, it is on the cheaper end.

So yeah. People are about to get their Card Summoner skill soon.

After figuring out I can now cheat the best skill onto people, I decided to open some packs because it has been a while. And I do stillck one part of Cyberdark Dragon, so maybe if I open ten packs of Cyberdark Impact, I’ll get it.

Well, at least Storm Shooter is a Super Rare. A repeat Super Rare, but still a Super Rare. Ending on it isn’t bad at all.

And I did get the missing Cyberdark, so this was a perfect opening in my opinion.

After my little pack opening, I visited the new employees of HomeBase. Those being Albus and Jenna. And in case you were wondering, Alice helped Jenna move in yesterday.

Jenna had already somewhat taken to the HomeBase atmosphere. I’m surprised she did it so quickly, but I won’tin. Maybe she just is adjustable.

Albus was … well he was a bit of a loner. I did get him to talk about it, and it came from how he looked. He was basically held back because he looks … well, because he is a lizard-folk.

But lucky for me, HomeBase is a giant mishmash of races already, so he didn’t feel too out of ce, and with Lua starting her lessons into Holy Magic, and Albus learning that Lua has the Saint title, he was at least getting close to her. But he better not get too close, as I can get protective if he tries something.

So HomeBase is doing fine. We have a source of Card Summoner skill orbs, I can make people stronger with installs and now also skill orbs, and most important of all, Exodia can close dimensional fissures as they appear.

So we are doing fine. Now let’s just hope the future keeps like that until we can figure out a permanent solution to the dimensional fissure problem.
