CH.409 Pan’s Powers
“Are you sure that is a good idea? I mean, we are talking about something that will most likely be legendary grade. Showing it off might get us some not so wee attention.” Wilma said, when I told her about thepetition.
She naturally did know of it, and had apparently even taken part in some junior version of thepetition when she still lived in Smorog. And no, she did not win and no, the reward for the lesser divisions isn’t an orichalcum ingot. That one is the reward only for the openpetition that anyone can take part in.
“Not like we don’t already have people’s attention inside the Kingdom. Besides, with what is happening up north, there is a chance we will have to intervene. And even if we don’t, the fissures don’t care about borders.”
“You say that, but the only ones that have appeared have all been inside Ruiso Kingdom.” Wilma pointed out.
“Not my fault. me the world.”
“I’d rather not. And that is besides the point. My point is, maybe we shouldn’t show that kind of weapon in apetition.” Wilma said.
“... so you aren’t taking part?” I asked.
“I didn’t say that. I’m just saying we aren’t using the de of Space and Time for what we show there. And besides, I think we should let Karl take the center stage for it. He does have something to prove, I don’t.”
“... alright. I won’t force you to. I just thought it would be funny.” I told her. “Can you tell Karl about thepetition?”
“I will.” Wilma said. “And if I doe up with something I want to build, I might also take part.”
“Oh, and I ran, well almost ran, into your teacher.” I told Wilma about my brief encounter with us.
“Really? How was he?” Wilma asked.
“... older than your memories of him. And I didn’t actually speak with him.”
“Oh. … That’s … too bad.”
“Age is a bitch. Maybe you really should take part in thepetition. Perhaps he will be watching. Make your teacher proud and all of that.” I told her. “And even if you don’t want to show the de of Space and Time, we can always use some install BS to make a weapon that gives its user strength. That should guarantee first ce.”
“... I don’t really want to cheat in apetition. We could make one to sell in the auction, but I don’t want to actually enter it in.”
“Sure. If that is what you want.”

After I told Wilma about thepetition, the news spread around HomeBase. And that led to someone else also thinking of a different kind ofpetition.
“Maybe I should take part in the adventuring tournament.” Unika pondered.
“Didn’t know that was a thing. When does that take ce?” I asked.
“Every year. But it is slightly different each year. One year it is ‘the best adventurer’ which is an individual tournament, other years it is a team tournament, other years it is something like ‘best archer’ or ‘best tamer’.”
“That’s … surprisingly nice. I guess since that is the case, the same person can’t just win year after year because they are the strongest.”
“Do we know thepetition for the year?” Alice asked. “If it’s magic, I’ll go and win it.”
“It’s never magic.” Lua said. “That falls under the Sage’s tower.”
“Do they have one?”
“Not that I know of.”
“They should.”
“Probably a safety concern.” I pointed out. “Not everyone can just resurrect people.”
“But you can. We should totally host our own tournament.” Alice said. “We can even hold it in the Factory. That way, even if you die, you won’t actually die. And we wouldn’t even have to worry about environmental destruction and your monsters could act as organizers and judges.”
“... sounds like too much work.” I told her. “But if you want to, I’ll help you out. But you are the one in charge, not me. I’m just there to be the one that actually has the Factory.”
“If you do host one, you should contact the main adventurers’ guild about it.” Lua noted. “They will likely want to know and they can advertise it for you.”

“... I should totally host a Yugioh tournament.” I said to myself. “I could duel the winner and give a Card Summoner skill orb and some rare cards as a reward.”
“You know no one actually knows how to y that game.” Lua pointed out. “I mean, Alice and I do know a bit, but not enough to really challenge you.”
“That is what makes it perfect. Because no one knows how to y, everyone will be ying on an even field.” I responded. “And if the reward is the skill orb and something like … Felgrand Dragon, I feel like at least those who know of Card Summoner will take part.”

“Well, you said it yourself earlier.” Alice began. “If you want to host one, you are in charge.” She said with a smirk.

After our talks, I checked if the records I have of the guildmunications had any info on the adventuring tournament. I did find out that it would be a teampetition this year, and technically ‘this year’ means that it will take ce just after the new yeares, which is still some months away.
I told as much to Unika and she began to n what team she could bring with her. I’ll just let her do as she wants, but I won’t be taking part. It isn’t that I don’t want to, but I’d just ruin the tournament. I mean, even outside of my cards, I’m kind of strong. And that isn’t just me saying that. Bring in my Collection of 2384 unique cards …
Yeah. I don’t think I need to tell why I can’t take part in something like that. At least not without severely limiting my power.
And as I said earlier, thepetition is months away. In that time, I’ll get a lot stronger because Level Up! is a BS card.

(Alright. Thanks Laura. I’ll make it now.) I responded to Laura who informed me that the ‘final’ form of the dimensional telescope was ready and uploaded to the Chaos God Core.
And before you say anything, I know I could have Wilma make the telescope housing for me, but it requires a lot of tiny lenses made of crystal, so it would be extremely difficult to produce without calling in experts. So it is just better to use HomeBase to manufacture the base telescope and then I install the card into it.
I’ve also been itching to summon more monsters. Hime?a is amazing already, but I could use a few more. And I do want to know if Pan can really just pick any monster from the ‘summon monster’ dimension.
And if she can, I do want to try to make a new version of the summoning magic circle which links directly to a dimensional telescope and allows for the summoning of the monster the telescope is aimed at.
But to do that I need data on how Pan’s abilities work. And to do that, I need a ‘willing’ summoner to help with forming a few contracts.
And no. I didn’t actually have to force Unika to help me. She was willing to do so without having to be forced.
So after I made the telescope and set it up near our now permanent summoning circles, which also have a mana refill station close by so that you can top off your mana after a summoning attempt, we were ready to summon some monsters.
Well first I have to summon a spirit.

“Alright Pan. I need you. Summon Beast Spirit.” I said, as I held an A-rank monster core in my hand. After all, a spirit does need a focus point from which they can form their body and for Pan, monster cores are great.
… actually, Iris and Lachros don’t really need one, but I suppose that is because Space is literally everywhere and Time is … well, I don’t really know. Time just is, I suppose. I mean, I clearly know that Time is a thing that exists and I can even manipte it with magic, but it is still strange to put into words.
Freaking fourth dimensional paradoxes.
But back to what we are doing. Pan, using the monster core as a focal point, made her cat girl body appear around it.
“Hello!” She energetically greeted us, before going on amenting streak. “I heard you summoned a ton of the other superiors for something fun. Why didn’t you call me for that?”
“... Pan. We were making a sword de. Aka. we were working with metal. And if I remember correctly, you aren’t the biggest fan of it.”
“I don’t hate metal. I just don’t like your cheaty chains.” Pan pouted. “But I guess I wouldn’t have really been a big help in that, so I’ll forgive you.”
“... is she really a superior spirit?” Unika asked. “... isn’t she a bit too … childlike for that?”
“Hey! I heard that!” Pan called out. “I might be the youngest of us, but I’ve earned my title as the Superior Spirit of Beasts!” As she said that, she was letting off an oppressive aura that felt simr to that of some of my monsters. It wasn’t quite on the level of the God monsters, but I do think it is close to the aura that Sorcerer of Dark Magic lets out.

Unika visibly shrunk in front of the spirit, before she fell to her knees. She then quickly got the rest of the way to the ground before apologizing to Pan.
“I… I’m sorry. I … I didn’t mean anything by it.” She quickly sputtered out.
Pan simply let her aura go, as she extended her hand towards Unika.
“Don’t worry about it.” Pan said with a smile back on her face. “I know I look weak, but that is sometimes a good thing. If you look weak, people will underestimate you. Take Brian for example. He doesn’t look that special, right? But he is still one of the strongest people I know.
So if nothing else, at least take this away from our meeting. Don’t underestimate people by their looks. While you can generally tell how powerful a beast is by appearance, you can’t with people. Or spirits.”
“Y-Yes, Lady Pan.” Unika said, before the color that just returned to her face once again flushed away. “... is it alright if I call you by your name?” She carefully asked.
“It’s fine.” Pan said nonchntly. “So Brian. You need my help with some summonings. What are we looking for?”
“Actually, I wanted to try something out. Mainly, this telescope.” I told her. “With it, you can see the world that holds the monsters we can summon with Summoning Magic. And I wanted to try to see if you can target specific monsters we see with the telescope.”
“Oh? You used Space and Time to make something like that? That is so cool!” Pan said, as she quickly rushed to the telescope and tried to look through it.
“Eh? How does this work?” She questioned. “It doesn’t have a viewing hole.”
“True. Originally it did, but I decided to use a disy screen instead. That way, multiple people can use it at the same time.” I said, as I turned the telescope on.
After just a bit, the disy screen turned on and a logo popped up on it. The logo was just the swirly vortex from the back of a Yugioh card, with Tahlia Technologies written under it.
I decided to name my more modern BS Tahlia Technologies for Tahlia, aka. my Storage. She is a big help in anything to do with programming and things like that, and I didn’t really want to name it Brian Technologies. And Wood Technologies just sounds wrong.
And I know you might be asking: ‘Why do you need a name for it anyway? Isn’t it for your use only?’
And the answer is, for now. But I did think about using the info I got on how the guildmunicatorwork works to maybe make awork of my own which would be a bit more advanced. Just so things other than text can easily be shared. Sure I’ll have to develop what will basically beputers, but I’m already working on that, so I’ll figure it out eventually. And then just develop digital cameras and so on. Or would it be magical camera?
“Yes! We have vision!” Pan called out. She really was as excited as a little girl who just got a new toy.
“... is that the … summonable monster world?” Unika asked.
“Should be. Let me confirm real quick.” I said, as I operated a secondary screen the telescope had. It was the ‘admin screen’ where you could manage some of the special properties of the telescope, but it isn’t needed for normal use.
“Yeah. That is the correct dimension.” I confirmed.
I quickly showed Pan and Unika how the telescope works, because it is a bit strange. After all, you don’t move the telescope, you change what it disys.
I mean, it is looking into what is literally a different dimension. It doesn’t need line of sight on it. It can’t have line of sight on it. And the only reason it even looks remotely like a telescope is because the card used to turn it into a telescope used Ancient Telescope as the base.

Pan and Unika then began scanning the world, while I also opened up what they were looking at onto the admin screen. I didn’t want to bother the two since they seem to be having fun, so I can just watch over from here.
After a bit of searching, Unika found something she wanted to try summoning. The monster was a multi-tailed fox, feeding Unika''s fox obsession. But I think what really made Unika want to try to summon it was the fact that the forest fox she has a summoning contract with in the pack the multi-tailed fox was leading.
“Sure. So a multi-tailed fox from around that area, ounting for low level summoning magic…” Pan muttered. “... We need about 2000 mana for that.” Pan stated.
(Laura, which circle does that match to?) I asked. I could calcte it myself, but reverse calcting the magic circle size from the required mana wasn’t the easiest, as you’d have to square root the mana amount before dividing it by 4.
And since I have aputer in my head, I can just ask her to do advanced math.
(Just over 11 meters in diameter. But we don’t have one that size. The nearest is the 12 meter circle, so have her use that.) Laura said. (And since Unika doesn’t have the 2300 mana required to fill up the 12 meter circle, make sure she can pull more from HomeBase.)
I told Unika as much, before moving the mana refill station so that Unika could use it while also filling up the magic circle. She then began to fill the circle with mana, while also making sure she herself didn’t run out.
And when the circle was full, Pan did something with it as it was summoning a monster. And like we wished for, a multi-tailed fox appeared before us.
I quickly turned to look at the dimensional telescope and confirmed that we had in fact summoned the very beast we were just looking at. That confirmed the fact that the dimension we are looking at is the summonable monster dimension, and that we can target a very specific monster with Pan’s power.
After a bit of talking between Unika and the fox, with Pan sometimes taking part, the multi-tailed fox got unsummoned, as the mana from the magic circle faded.
“So, did you seed?” I asked.
“Didn’t you hear?” Pan asked.
“Sorry, but I don’t speak beast and you were speaking beast.” I pointed out.
“Oh right. I forget you can’t do that, as it feels like you can do almost anything.” Pan said.
“I did manage a contract.” Unika said. “... it is a bit mana hungry though, so I can’t really use it much.”
“You’ll get more mana. That is the nature of stats. They grow. I mean, look at me. I have a mana pool of over 10,000 now. Some time ago, I’d have assumed I’d never get that far.”
“... Yes. I’ll get there. … I hope.”
