Chapter 229: Conversing through actions.

The forest was littered with bodies of corrupted arachnea, limbs, organs, and green blood.

It was really difficult not to find this scene repulsive, but the trio ignored it, as they saw this scene multiple times already.

Orion, joined by Amelia and Karteira walked toward the golden barrier protecting the non corrupted arachnea.

Inside, all of them were trembling in fear each time they took a step further.

Only one decided to walk past the barrier, and stand in Orion''s path. This arachnee was the spear holder that Orion saved.

As he bared his progression, they all stopped.

"They most likely don''t understand our language. I don''t think it will be that difficult to make them understand our goal, but let''s avoid being too optimistic either."

Glancing at his friend, Orion waited for their response until both nodded.

"How are we going to tell them..."

Making his crossbow vanish was the very first step. Having a weapon in hand was definitely a sign of aggression.

So just like him, Amelia and Karteira stopped using their ability, but remained focused in case something happened.

The man arachnee looked at Orion with his four blue eyes, before showing a sign of relief. It lowered its weapon slightly in response.

''Alright, that''s a good sign. If language doesn''t work, then...''

Orion pointed at a corpse nearby. All arachnea followed his gaze, and looked at it. Next, he pointed at the arachnee in front of him.

He slightly twitched and was ready to take a defensive stance, when Orion crossed his fingers together.

    "We won''t kill you."

That''s what the arachnea understood from his message.

    "Amelia, show me your hands."

    "Sure."

Amelia did as he asked, and presented her hands next to Orion. He grabbed them, and made sure the next message got through too.

He wrapped his hands around Amelia''s wrist as if she was a prisoner. That display was also understood rather easily, before he crossed his fingers again.

"We won''t take you captive either."

Clicking noise echoed from the golden barrier. They seemed to be talking about something related to this.

Some noise sounded hopeful and relieved, while some sounded more aggressive.

The human part of the man arachnee turned to the others slightly, and made some clicking sounds at them.

All noises stopped after that. Every arachnea walked out of the barrier, behind the one with the spear.

"Seems like we''ve managed to get through them."

The spear suddenly stopped in front of Orion''s chest. Since there was no sign of bloodlust, he ignored it. Amelia and Karteira jumped back, but after seeing how Orion ignored it, they let it slide.

All arachnea turned around, and began to follow a path further inside the forest. The one with the spear removed his spear from Orion''s chest, and pointed it toward the same direction.

"They want us to follow I guess. It''s logical that they would still be on guard."

"Well, yes, but there was other ways to tell us, don''t you think?"

Amelia said, with a stern expression on her face.

"That was most likely a test to see if we were true to our words."

Orion began to follow the arachnea after Karteira hypothesized the arachnee''s previous action.

"Anyways, let''s move on. If they have something to show us..."

    "It''s would be their Remnant."

With heavy steps, they walked further inside the dense forest, imbued with corruption in its entirety.

''How did they even survive this? Is it because of that arachnee? Is he the ''Savior'' of his faction?''

    ''I don''t see other explanation.''

The landscape was rather poor. Dead pine tree everywhere, old corpses littering in many places, yet, the light of the sun never reached inside. This darkness was one that many would find terrifying.

With haste, the sound of the spiders marching on the ground was the only thing around them. No clicking sounds, no wind caressing the branches, just the sound of walking.

At one point, the trees were replaced by a large opening, leading to a rather flat space.

    "Orion, Karteira, look up..."

Pointing upward, Amelia showed her finding to the others.

The moment their eyes looked up, they looked with awe, and then with dread.

A large number of spider web bridges linking many house looking buildings were hanging above them. It was formed in a circular pattern, with an opening in the middle.

There was many layers, or floors, meaning that this was the place were all the arachnea they killed earlier lived before turning.

This part was what made them look with awe. The worst part was not as awe-inspiring.

Many cocoon dripping green blood were hanging above them. There was around fifty of them hanging from the houses and bridges.

But the worst wasn''t just that. In the middle, where the circular opening, in the highest part of the area, a massive spider was curled up, as if it was dead.

    "The Remnant..."

Orion looked at the spider from afar and clenched his fists.

    "We don''t know yet."

    "Yes, don''t lose hope yet."

Amelia and Karteira both grabbed his hands to calm him.

A few seconds later, they heard the sound of webs being fired. At first, they thought they were going to be attacked, but instead, the arachnea built a kind of elevator for them to go up into their home.

Orion let go of their hands, and pointed at the elevator.

The spear holding arachnee pointed at it with his spear in response, before clicking at the others behind him.

They all turned around and began to climb trees. That was how they went home normally.

"What choice do we have at this point."

With a shrug, Orion walked on the hard thread, and looked at Amelia and Karteira.

    "You''re not coming?"

    "Is it even stable?"

Amelia and Karteira approached with worried expressions, scared that it would break or move as they went up.

    "Who knows?"

A smile on his face, he held his hands for them to grab on.

"Haa~ You''re too trusting. It''s not like you."

Walking next to him while holding his hand, Amelia sighed and stared anxiously at her feet.

"I''m not trusting, there''s no other choices, that''s all. Also, we saved their lives, so I think they are smart enough to know that we can retaliate in case they try anything funny against us."

Karteira grabbed his hand too and waited anxiously in silence.

"If it breaks, I''m holding you accountable, alright?"

"Sure. I''ll fight you one-on-one or whatever. I''ll even massage you if you want. That is, if it broke."

Shudders traveled through their whole body when Orion spoke about massages.

    "N-No, I guess I''m fine. Ha-Haha~"

Karteira looked away, yet she still kept holding his hand.

Just like that, he managed to calm their anxiety naturally.

Once the arachnea made their way up, four of them began to pull the threads holding the elevator. Slowly, they made their way up.

As it was quite a fair way up, it took them a few minutes until they managed to walk off the elevator.

"In the end, it never broke."

    "It wasn''t that bad."

Relieved, Amelia and Karteira were the first one to walk out of it. But now, there was another problem.

    "It''s... very high."

Amelia wasn''t used to being above ground like this.

    *PHHT*

When Orion walked out of the elevator, the sound of a web thread being fired echoed, and the three of them felt a strange sensation in their back.

They looked back, and noticed a spider web tightly wrapped around their waist.

    "What does that mean?"

Orion looked at the spear holding arachnee. The spider pointed the ground below him, and smashed the back of his spear on the wooden floor.

    "Oh, sure."

He nodded at the man-spider, and looked at his friends.

"This is precaution in case we fall down, or so I guessed."

Three arachnea were holding the threads tightly in their hands, confirming his words.

"I thought we were prisoners at first."

Karteira smiled, yet you could see a glint of anger in her eyes.

The arachnea began to make their way up, so the group followed. They took the chance to observe the village, or town, of the arachnea.

Most of it was simple wooden houses, with giant webs inside of them. It was close to cocoon, but it had an opening, which meant that it was their bed.

Orion wondered what was their diet. Giant spiders creatures would require quite a lot of food to survive.

But at one point, he noticed that their diet was most likely other animals, probably big insects, just like many animals appeared in the fairy realms, unrelated to Tiohr-nam''s fairy.

Life always find its way inside newly created realms.

The group went up, and up, higher in the town through bridges.

The anxiousness of approaching the spider Remnant made them gulp a few times.

At the floor before the last, the arachnea stopped. They cut the thread holding their back, and walked away.

The spear holding arachnee stopped in front of the last bridge going up, and pointed at the place past the bridge.

At this point, walls were built, making it safe to process further, so the need of protection was now unnecessary.

"I guess they idolize their Remnant. Just like the fairies idolize Tiohr-nam."

Orion nodded at the arachnee, who made way for them to continue forward.

"I guess the rest of for us to discover?"

The trio walked forward and crossed the bridge, before entering a large room.

The very first thing they noticed when entering was the giant spider threw an opening in the back wall.

    "So... it really is..."

A lifeless Remnant was in front of them. Or so they though.

    "No."

Without hesitation, Orion approached the being, and touched its face.

It was a very big tarantula like spider. Its body was massive, almost fifty meters wide without the legs accounted for.

For some reason, it looked extremely beautiful for a spider in their eyes. Its skin was yellowish while showing some red parts at the joints of its body and legs, it had strange white lines covering the back of its body, like a symbol.

Its eyes were round, and even though it was faint, there was still light in them. Orion noticed that and immediately made contact with it.

"I''ll try to remove as much corruption as possible from your body."

Orion closed his eyes, and began to analyze the whole body of the Remnant, like he did for Velridar previously.

    "..."

Amelia and Karteira silently observed this, as light began to pour from Orion''s hand into the Remnant.

This continued, until Orion gritted his teeth.

    "I... can''t heal this."

His hands fell helplessly at his sides.
