Extra: Lu Ting POV 1 (2)
Love wasn’t just giving. There was taking involved as well. One could gain satisfaction from it.
That period of time had been Lu Ting’s happiest time. He could be with the person he liked as much as he liked. He had also had the ability to protect the person he liked. He could give the other whatever he wanted. For a man, this made him feel happy and sessful.
Even though Lu Ting knew that Xie He would have done well without him, that Xie He would have been able to defeat his enemies, Lu Ting still wanted to love and protect the younger man.
It wasn’t that he looked down on Xie He or didn’t respect him, he just loved him.
But while Lu Ting was absorbed in love, 666 realized something was wrong. His host seemed to have really fallen in love. 666 was just a system but he felt a baffling sense of unease.... He knew that this wasn’t right. This couldn’t happen. It absolutely could not happen!
It was prohibited by the Love Conquest Manual to genuinely fall in love with a capture target.
Lu Ting was supposed to remain unmoved, to not want to stay. He was supposed to be coldhearted and finish his mission before leaving this world.
However, Lu Ting’s actions went against those rules.
666 couldn’t help but ask Lu Ting about this, to remind him to pay attention.
For the first time, Lu Ting was silent. For a long time, he didn’t reply. After a long period of time, all he said was, “It’s fine. It’s just one loss.”
666 thus dropped the matter. Although they were not high levelled, it really wasn’t unbearable to fail once. But at that time, he didn’t know that this was only the start of the tragedy. At Xie He’s side, Lu Ting would not lose just once. He would lose more than ten thousand experience points.... If 666 had known what would happen, he would have given everything to put a stop to this.
It wasn’t like Lu Ting didn’t understand where 666 wasing from. But sometimes, even if he knew something well, it wasn’t that simple.
For example, he knew that he shouldn’t love Xie He, but he had still fallen in love. Wanting to put an end to his emotions was an extremely difficult task.... At this time, he made a very difficult decision. However, he had never regretted it.
He chose to continue loving Xie He.
He didn’t force himself to forget Xie He and leave. Instead, he chose to just be a regr man. He wanted to love the person he loved. Not only could he protect Xie He, he could be at the other’s side. Even if he couldn’t stay in this world for Xie He, he would not give up.
If he had no desires while alive, then life would be boring.... Lu Ting thought that loving Xie He and letting himself have a desire, wasn’t a bad thing. Actually, he thought that it was a really good thing.
He knew how cruel the transmigration world was. Many hosts had be cold-blooded and ruthless because of it. They would use any means possible to survive. But still, many would die.... But Lu Ting thought that there was no point in living if you only lived to survive.
He thought that being able to meet Xie He while transmigrating...being able to meet someone who could move his heart and make him feel like this was something to rejoice.
It was like he had found a reason to keep fighting.
Lu Ting and Xie He’s life together was full of love. Lu Ting carefully loved his beloved.... The rise of Xie He’s Favourability Value was like a countdown to death. Finally, one day, he realized that he had to leave.
Lu Ting had always been guessing at Lord God’s motive, as well as the meaning of these worlds. He had noticed that the worlds that had beenpleted would disappear from the missions’ list. They would never appear again. No one knew where these worlds went.
If he maxed Xie He’s Favourability Value and left, then this world might end up destroyed...and no one would ever be able toe back. Only worlds whose missions have yet to bepleted would appear on the missions list. This was his only hope ining back.
When Xie He’s Favourability Value reached 99, Lu Ting made a decision.
He brought Xie Xi to Xie He’s birthday party. He knew that Xie Xi was the person Xie He hated the most. Even though Xie Xi was no threat to him, Xie He simply didn’t like the other. If Lu Ting were to randomly pick a person, or if he were to just leave, Xie He would probably realize that there was a problem, given how smart he was. Xie He would search for the answer and would be upset over him.
But if it was Xie Xi, Xie He would never be able to forgive Lu Ting easily.
Like this, even if Lu Ting disappeared, Xie He wouldn’t be heart-broken.
Lu Ting didn’t know if he’d be able toe back. He didn’t know if he would die outside.
What he thought was that if he did this, then even if he couldn’te back, Xie He would forget him. Whether Xie He would fall in love with someone else, he couldn’t control.... However, if he was able to return and Xie He’s world was still on the missions list, he would not give up.
He woulde back and tell Xie He his feelings.
That day, Lu Ting had stood next to Xie Xi and looked at Xie He indifferently. No one knew how much strength it had taken to control himself.
For a moment, he had almost wanted to give up out of selfishness. He didn’t want Xie He to hate him. However, in the end, he was still able to endure it....
If he gave up, this world would disappear forever.
Lu Ting thus left and boarded the most recent flight. He then pretended to disappear in an ident and left the world.
He once again arrived at the missions hall. He found a high level host and asked that host to team up with him. That high level host just so happened to be recruiting. His previous subordinate had died a terrible death in a previous high ranked world. Seeing Lu Ting’s strength, he epted him.
666 had been shocked silly. He had thought that Lu Ting had lost it.
He had been with Lu Ting for several years. He knew that his host wasn’t the type to be impatient. His host had always been steady, calm, and had always acted as if the world was like a game.... He would always choose to obtain the greatest reward in the safest circumstances. He had always slowly levelled up by himself before attempting higher ranked worlds. He had never been one to ept being another’s subordinate and take risks or be ackey for the purposes of getting more experience points!
Lu Ting didn’t directly answer 666’s questions. Instead, he asked the system what experience points represented. 666 had said he didn’t know.
Lu Ting also didn’t know, but he had a guess. Even if his guess wasn’t right...at least experience points could be used to exchange for many things. If he wanted to be strong, he needed experience points. He needed more and more. He needed to upgrade himself and his system.
And he didn’t have much time to do it.
Lu Ting looked at the screen. Xie He’s world was still there. It hadn’t disappeared yet.... But if he couldn’t get strong in time, the next time he came back, that mission might disappear. And he didn’t think that he’d be able to make Lord God bring back a world that had already disappeared for him given his puny strength.
He couldn’t gamble on this. He couldn’t take it slowly. Because he wasn’t doing this just for himself, but for his beloved too.
Lu Ting and that high levelled host went to an A-ranked world. It was an extremely dangerous xuanhuan world. There were dangerous demonic beasts, sinister forests and marshes, as well as all sorts of powerful beings.
Lu Ting was only a level five host. He was basically cannon fodder in this world. Furthermore, no one cared about his life or death.
Luckily, he had never hoped for protection. His life was his to protect. He would find a way to survive!
In that world, Lu Ting faced death many times. However, he managed to survive in the end. Neen subordinates had died under that high levelled host’smand. Only two had survived, including Lu Ting. However, the rewards were bountiful. In that world, he had obtained eighty thousand experience points.
When Lu Ting arrived in the missions hall, the first thing he did wasn’t to look for a new mission, but to nervously look for Xie He’s worldl on the missions list. As long as he saw that the mission was still there, he would have the motivation to keep fighting. He would then begin to calcte which world he would gain the most experience points from, given that he survived.
He did missions like this non-stop.
Every time he came back from a dangerous world, Lu Ting would stare at the missions list, as if through this simple list, he could see the world he had stayed in, the world that he missed. As if he could see the person he loved.... He knew that there was someone in that world that might still be waiting for him.
It was fine in the beginning. Butter on, 666 would ask Lu Ting questions, not at all understanding why he was doing this. “You’ve been doing this for way more than ten years. Things are only getting more dangerous. Why must you still hang onto those short ten years?”
Lu Ting had said: “It’s my obsession.”
In the beginning, it had only been out of love. However, after he had put his life on the line time and time again, as he had spent many long years transmigrating...he would always rely on his faith to persevere and live.... He would think of that person. Xie He was no longer just the person he loved, but the reason he lived.
He could no longer not love Xie He.
With love, he could go even further distances.
666 didn’t understand this kind of emotion. No matter how many times he calcted it, it still didn’t seem worth it. Therefore, he noted down that human emotions were all impulsive and irrational. They were not cost-effective. Even his host, who had always been a cool-headed, mentally strong person, could not escape from it.
..............................
The worlds Lu Ting chose were always high ranked worlds he had carefully deliberated over. Although he really wanted to earn more experience points, he would not go to worlds that had no chance of survival. If he did, then he wouldn’t be able to go back to Xie He.
The people by his side died one after another, but he always managed to survive.
After several tens of worlds, Lu Ting finally rose to a level nine host. He was one of the few high levelled hosts that could go to SS-ranked worlds.
He had stopped acting as other people’s subordinate since long ago. Countless hosts had tried to be his subordinate because Lu Ting was still considered an upright guy. Although he didn’t take much care of his subordinates, he wouldn’t humiliate them or enve them. He wouldn’t let them die in vain, either. As long as someone was obedient and did their work, they’d be fine with him.... If they were with Lu Ting, their survival rate increased a lot and they could receive bountiful rewards. Many people wanted to follow him.
Even more people would try using any means possible to seduce Lu Ting. That way, they could have him once and for all. Anyone who tried this would be cleaned up by Lu Ting without exception though.
His heart had only ever been big enough for one person. Later on, with all he experienced, it had be even more impossible for another to enter his heart.
After a long, long time, Lu Ting finally became a level twelve host. He was the strongest within the transmigration world. He was a legend. However, he didn’t ck off or rest.
Many high levelled hosts liked vacation worlds. They could be powerful lords and have anything they wanted. But Lu Ting never chose to ept a vacation world again. He didn’t have time to waste and he wasn’t in the mood to rest, either....
Those hosts had all been surprised. Neers would worship him as their idols. They all thought that he wasn’t human. It was said that he had exchanged for a god-levelled bloodline. Hadn’t he already be the second god?
But he never enjoyed his gains. For what did he work so hard?
Only 666 knew that under Lu Ting’s shiny exterior, was suffering. Those bloody, cruel, high-ranked worlds...Lu Ting had experienced nearly a hundred of them. Only 666 knew how immense the pressure was on Lu Ting, how horrifying the suffering he had to go through was. It was just that Lu Ting never showed it.
Lu Ting could kill the Queen Zerg in interster worlds, fight gods in cultivation worlds and ovee despairing darkness in worlds of bloody ughter.
Lu Ting gradually became indifferent, cruel and taciturn.
666 still remembered when Lu Ting had gone to a S-ranked world called ‘Ghost Vige.’ That hadn’t been the most dangerous world, but it was one of the worlds that left the most profound memory in 666.
There had been a killer ghost in that world. It could possess any living human. Lu Ting had made ample preparations before entering. He had thought that the ghost was a phantom. He had many ways to control these kinds of ghosts. He had brought subordinates with him to ensure his safety. However, after entering, he had found out that there was a secret rule that was very disadvantageous for them. It was a hopeless situation. As long as there was someone alive, that killer ghost could possess them ande back.
In the end, they had killed every living person in that vige. However, the killer ghost still existed. It began to possess hosts. Only Lu Ting could resist possession. The ghost forced him to kill all of his subordinates.
In the end, after Lu Ting killed hisst subordinate, he was the only person left alive in that vige. That ghost had tried to attack him, but there were no more humans for it to possess. In the end, it was killed by Lu Ting. Lu Ting had stared at the mountain of corpses and sea of blood. He had left that world alone. He had obtained a huge sum of experience points but his heart had been rendered barren.
Lu Ting’s soul had taken on too big a load. Side effects began to emerge. However, he used psychosuppressants to forcefully suppress them.
666 had watched Lu Ting’s change.... Many times, 666 had thought that Lu Ting wouldn’t be able to go on. However, Lu Ting would stille back to the missions hall and stare at the corner of the missions list. When he saw that the unremarkable E-ranked world was still lit up, he found the power to continue on.
It was also only then that 666 would see a shadow of Lu Ting’s old self. 666 didn’t know if this was a good or bad thing. His host had be really strong, but he had paid such a high price. Furthermore, was this really what he wanted?
Right, Lu Ting would also asionallye back and beat people up. For example, the hosts that had gone to Xie He’s world. With Lu Ting’s strength, anyone he wanted to beat up could only suck it up and take it. 666 thought that it had seemed like Lu Ting’s mood would get much better every time he beat someone up.
Although 666 didn’t approve of these violent methods, and although Lu Ting hadn’t been so violent in the past...if this could alleviate some of the pressure on Lu Ting, 666 wouldn’t say anything about it. His heart really ached for his host.
Right, since 666 became a level ten system, he had obtained the ability to block out a hundred percent of any physical pain. However, 666 still felt like this was a useless ability. For any host that was able to reach level ten, physical pain was nothing. Even without a pain barrier, they could take physical pain without batting an eye.
This was because every strong person would have undergone the most ruthless tempering. Furthermore, only with a strong mind would they have made it this far.
Lu Ting’s mental and physical fortitude was iparably strong. 666 thought that if there was anything that could still hurt Lu Ting, it was Xie He. Because Xie He was the only person in Lu Ting’s soft heart thatid beneath his hard exterior..... 666 had never expected that these words would soone true.
..............................
At this time, Lu Ting knew far more than he had back then. He had already gotten a good idea of the rules Lord God followed. He also knew what the secondary worlds meant. While getting stronger, he had begun toe up with a n. He had never given up.
Finally, one day, Xie He had finally managed to defeat a hundred hosts and that unremarkable E-ranked world upgraded.
Lu Ting, who had juste back from the terrifying SSS-ranked world, knew that this was his only chance.
Because of ‘Death Dream’, Lord God would never tolerate a bug that could cause a world to upgrade. It would certainly choose to forcibly erase Xie He’s world.
Lu Ting ordered 666 to contact Lord God. He said that he was willing to go back to capture Xie He. Like this, Lord God wouldn’t have to expendrge amounts of energy to destroy Xie He’s world.
However, Lord God had refused. It had analyzed a risk assessment on Lu Ting and determined that Lu Ting’s actions back then had been too passive. Furthermore, it had been Lu Ting’s failure that had caused the world to shift in a disadvantageous direction. He had been the cause of Xie He’s world’s upgrade.... Lord God thought that Lu Ting wouldn’t be able to capture Xie He. Furthermore, Xie He knew himself too well. The chances of him being captured was less than 0.001%.
Lu Ting thus proposed that if no one could capture Xie He in Xie He’s world, then Lord God should give him a system and have him leave his world. Furthermore, Lu Ting was willing to pay the costs for building new worlds. Lu Ting had proposed capturing Xie He because it was only by letting Xie He leave his original and binding to a system that he could obtain experience points. This was the only way Xie He would be able to attain the escape medicine.... However, Lu Ting absolutely could not let Lord God know this.
After calcting it again, Lord God decided that Xie He could possibly be captured if he were to leave his world. However, it was still hesitant. Its risk assessment still wasn’t positive with regards to Lu Ting. That is, until Lu Ting gave hisst suggestion.
Lu Ting said that he was willing to form an irrevocable soul contract. As long as there was an irrevocable soul contract, unless he died, the game would not end.
Only then did Lord God believe that Lu Ting genuinely wanted to capture Xie He. Furthermore, it wasn’t losing out on this deal. In the end, it agreed to Lu Ting’s suggestion. However, it stated that it needed to be in control of each world’s creation and the capture process! It believed that Lu Ting was a risk until the end.
666 thought he would go crazy. He lost his cool and made a ruckus in Lu Ting’s head. He didn’t think that his host would make an irrevocable soul contract with Lord God. Of course Lu Ting didn’t want to go back to capture Xie He, he just wanted to give the other experience points! Giving experience points was fine, but Lu Ting was giving up his life!
Lu Tingforted 666. He had worked hard to earn experience points all these years all for the sake of giving it to his beloved. This was what he was supposed to use his experience points for. 666 had been livid. Leaving aside the fact that every point had been earned by Lu Ting while putting his life on the line—so it was up to him how he spent it—but what about the soul contract?!
Lu Ting said that he wouldn’t die, that he had left himself a way out. As long as slivers of his soul still existed, Xie He could revive him.
666 couldn’t stop his host. He only felt sad.
But Lu Ting’s mood waspletely different from 666’s. For once, there was a smile on his face. It was obvious that he was in a good mood.
In a blink of an eye, nearly a thousand years had passed. He was finally going to be able to see his beloved again. Who knows how much Xie He had changed? Mn, for now, he wouldn’t be able to see Xie He’s original form. But as long as he knew that the soul was Xie He’s, Lu Ting would be very happy.
Hadn’t he done so much, worked so hard...all for today?
For the sake of one day being able to give Xie He the chance to free himself so that they would never have to part again.
But Lu Ting knew that this was not the time to talk about love. He still needed to act a bit. He had to lose without evoking Lord God’s suspicion.... But even though Lu Ting and 666 had made mental preparations, they hadn’t expected it to be this hard. It had been way harder than they had imagined.
At this time, Lu Ting didn’t know that.... He only listened to the system notification with unprecedented hope in his heart.
【Ding, transfer to new world in progress. Your identity in this world is Zhou Yizhe.】
Eve: Wow that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Also, Lu Ting is so beyond sweet and loyal my heart. T-T
sere: ahhhh sad boiiiii T^T omg Zhou Yizhe i had to go back and look to remember this name.
