Chapter 387

The stool smashed onto Isaac''s head, and it cut off his sentence.

Matthew lifted the stool and saw Isaac lying unconscious on the ground with blood all over his head. Then, he lifted the stool again and struck down twice. Isaac''s legs snapped under the blows.

Matthew nced at Trevor, who stood rigidly in a salute. Annoyed by their presence, he fought the urge to kill. He tossed the stool aside and turned to Trevor. "Why are you still saluting?"

Trevor responded, "Sir, we continue saluting until you acknowledge or return it. Only then can we end it."

Matthew was ridiculous. He couldn''t believe Trevor would keep saluting indefinitely if he didn''t return it. Still, he was curious about Trevor''s sudden change in attitude. "You were pointing a gun at me when I first arrived. Why the salute now?" Trevor''s expression grew solemn. "Because of that ring."

Matthew couldn''t believe the ring was the reason for their behavior. Hence, he grew more intrigued by what it truly symbolized. "Do you know where that ringes from? It''s just a ring for an ordinary person like me. There''s no need for all this fuss." Trevor said respectfully, "To me, it''s like the g of our country. Whether the g is flying high or lying in the mud, it represents my faith. It''s worth giving my life for, and so is this ring."

Matthew was stunned by his words. To him, a ring was just a ring, yet Trevor treated it with the reverence of a national g.

The notion that someone could be willing to sacrifice their life for a mere ring was beyond hisprehension. Matthew''s curiosity intensified. "Can you tell me more about the origins of this ring?" Trevor simply replied, "I don''t know."

Matthew thought it was absurd for someone to disy such devotion while iming ignorance. He wondered who might have given Trevor his orders but decided not to pursue the matter further. "Fine. If you don''t want to talk, I''m leaving. You can stay here like a statue." With that, he walked out.

He left behind two unconscious men and a bewildered Trevor. The other soldiers were equally puzzled.

Once Matthew was gone, Trevormanded, "At ease!"

    The soldiers dropped their salutes.

Trevor''s expression turned grim as he looked at Isaac on the ground. He led out his phone and dialed a

    number. "Mr. Miles, I''ve im

Trevor acknowledged, "Understood." He nced at Isaac and said, "The owner of the Juprus Ring crippled Isaac."

Brad was shocked. "You mean the heir of the Wood family? What''s his condition?"

Trevor took another look and reported, "Both his legs are broken. He took a hit to the head, and he''s still bleeding."

Brad was stunned. After a long

pause, he muttered, "So the Juprus Ring''s owner even dares to go after the Wood family. This is serious."

Meanwhile, as Matthew walked downstairs, he unexpectedly ran into Rachel. He hesitated, unsure of what to say. When he decided to walk past her, something crossed her mind, and she asked, "What were you doing upstairs?" He replied casually, "I went to see Isaac."
