Chapter 581

Jerome looked at Matthew. "Are you sure you want me to contact the higher-ups? If they show up, there''s no turning back. Even Wealthwave Group might end up being kicked out of Lambda City."

Matthew fixed his cold gaze on Jerome. "Just go ahead and call him over."

Jerome nodded and pulled his phone out. "Hi, boss. Can youe over? I can''t handle the situation."

On the other end of the line, a man''s angry voice came through. "What the heck are you doing? Even at your age, you can''t even get this right? I can''t believe I have to step in myself. You''re worthless."

With that, the call was ended.

Jerome''s face darkened. Despite his age, he was still getting such treatment. He was so furious his hands were shaking, but he bit his tongue. One word from his higher-up could turn him into a nobody.

Jerome wanted tosh out at Matthew, but with the treatment on his mind, he figured it was better to suck it up than deal with erectile dysfunction for the rest of his life.

"Give it a minute. Boss will be here soon."

Upon hearing that, Matthew took a seat and waited with a grim expression.

Wyatt looked over at Matthew and then at Jerome, not sure what to do. He was still in a daze, trying to figure out who exactly Matthew was.

The private room was so quiet that everyone could hear the drop of a pin. The atmosphere in the room became awkward.

Jerome cleared his throat and forced a smile on his stiff expression. He picked up the coffee pot and poured a cup of coffee. Then, he brought it over to Matthew.

"I''ve got a few words to say that might sound a bit blunt. I''m not sure if you''re okay with that."

Upon seeing Jerome''s attitude, Wyatt got even more curious about Matthew''s background, so he just stood aside quietly with curiosity.

Matthew thought Jerome wanted to talk about the form, so he nodded. "Speak your mind."

Jerome took a pause as if he was mulling over how to phrase his word. He remarked, "Even though you''re a great doctor, you''re still a doctor at the end of the day. I need your help, so I''ll be respectful. I can''t afford to upset you.

"But my boss won''t be polite with you. If you''re adamant about getting Silvaris Pharmaceuticals'' form, you''ll have a hard time sticking around in Lambda City."

A cold gleam flickered in Matthew''s eyes. "I want to try."

Wyatt felt like he finally got a sense of who Matthew was. Apparently, Matthew was more than just hired muscle. He was also a doctor.

Wyatt couldn''t hold back his snide remarks. "There are at least four thousand doctors in Lambda City, and you''re just one of them. You''re a nobody in front of the higher-ups. Do you have a death wish challenging them?"

Matthew nced at Wyatt with his gaze as sharp as knives. He exuded a menacing presence as if he was about to make a move at any moment.

Upon noticing that, Jerome lectured Wyatt, "Watch your mouth. How can you speak to Dr. Grant like that?"

Seeing that Jerome had spoken up, Wyatt just looked down and kept quiet.

Jerome continued, "You probably don''t see just how many people are involved, Dr. Grant. The situation isplicated."

Matthew was eager to learn more about this. "Then tell me. I want to know just how many people are involved in this."

Jerome sat beside Matthew and poured himself a cup of coffee. After taking a sip, he set down the cup.

"Many people are caught in this. Pharmaceutical factories, medicalpanies, doctors, medical associations, and even prominent figures, I''d say almost everyone in the medical field is tangled inthis."

Matthew looked at Jerome skeptically. "Aren''t you blowing this out of proportion?"

Jerome shook his head. "I''m not

exaggerating at all. I''m even downying it. Silvaris Pharmaceuticals shut down

    because they only produced

    traditional medicine. They are cheap

without much profit, like Liverlight Pill.

"For something like lowering blood pressure, Amlodipine requires the patients to take it daily after having the first dose. Do you know how much money that makes?

"But if a patient takes two doses of Liverlight Pill, the patient''s blood pressure returns to normal, and they can stop the medication.

"If the patients get better, how do doctors make a living? How do hospitals keep running? How would anyone else in the medical field gain their profit?

"That''s why hospitals would rather choose Amlodipine. It''d be strange if Silvaris Pharmaceuticals didn''t go under."

Matthew suddenly figured it all out. "So that''s why Silvaris Pharmaceuticals closed down."

Jerome added, "Besides traditional medicine, the inexpensive modern medicine got eliminated too. Have you ever tried Nexcoldia, the cold medicine that''s only one dor a pack?"

Matthew unlocked his ankles. "Yes. I''ve tried it. Just a few days ago, I found it at a small clinic for three dors a pack."

    Had Matthew truly seen one?

Jerome was stupefied. "I can''t believe some clinics are using that

to treat patients. What''s wrong with the people running those clinics? How can they sell their patients that kind of cold remedy?

"It cures the sickness for merely three dors. How are they going to make

money? The clinic is going to close down for sure.

"Listen up. Any medicine with a lower profit margin is bound to be eliminated. Aside from eldernroot and frostbloom, the rest of the traditional medicine is getting phased out."

Matthew got the gist of what Jerome had said, but he wasn''t fully convinced.

"Since the medicines are about to be phased out, it means their forms aren''t worth anything anymore. So why do you all want to take them?"
