Sasha said graciously, "Don''t worry. It''s my treat."
After all, spending a little money to make Yvonne''s life difficult was worth it. Although Sasha knew that money didn''te easily, she could still afford the treat. Shane swallowed nervously. "Can I order whatever I want?"
Sasha immediately thought of his tendency to spend recklessly and worried that he might order so much that it would exceed her entire monthly sry.
So, she quickly added, "You can order whatever you like, as long as the total doesn''t go over a hundred dors. If it goes over, you''re on your own."
Sasha thought it was better to set clear boundaries now to avoid any surprisester.
Shane grumbled, "You''ve got a job and a bonus. Are you really that tight with money?"
Without missing a beat, Sasha replied, "My sry isn''t that high. It''s generous enough that I''m treating you. If you think it''s too little, then forget about it."
A hundred bucks was her absolute limit. Anything beyond that was just too much for her to cover.
"I''m notining," Shane said. He hadn''t been living an easy life either-currently, he was mooching off anyone he could.
If Sasha was willing to treat him, he was more than happy to ept. "See you at noon then."
"Okay," Sasha said, hanging up the phone. She nced over at Yvonne''s office.
"Yvonne, just wait. You''ll regret this!" she thought to herself.
...
After following Zane into the office, I scanned my surroundings.
Zane looked at me and asked, "Notice anything different?"
"The decor is pretty much the same as before." I shifted my gaze, walked over to my designated desk, and sat down. "However, after a day away feel a mix of familiarity and strangeness now that I''m back and following you around again
Zaneughed. "Is that so? Well, in that case, I guess you''ll have toe in every day from now on."
bet
"Alright," I said as I turned on myputer and began working. Due to ack of time, I''d fallen behind on my tasks these past few days, so I needed to catch up today.
Zane nced at Annalise and suddenly felt the urge to chat with her. However, he thought work was more important, so he suppressed the urge to talk and turned back to his tasks.
Once everything was wrapped up, Zane walked over to Annalise and asked, "I remember you were rather wealthy back in school. What happened? "How did you end up like this after the divorce? Did you spend all your money on helping Steven start his business?"
"Not exactly. I was always careful with money, even though I was sincere about Steven. But I did buy a house for Zachary and invested in some fixed assets."
I paused, then looked at him curiously. "But how did you know I had money?"
Zane hesitated before answering, "Someone who knew you mentioned it to me once." He gave Annalise a quick nce as if worried he might be recognized. "Oh," I said, nodding in understanding. "I understand."
Zane continued, "So you spent everything on Zachary and didn''t save anything for yourself?"
"Yeah," I answered honestly. "To be honest, after marrying Steven, I never imagined I''d end up divorced."
Most people who enter marriage would expect it tost forever.
Zane looked at me and asked, "So, when you got divorced, you had nothing left. Wasn''t it very challenging?"
