Chapter 692

Steven stared at Chloe intently. She quickly realized she couldn''t be rude to him since she was there to ask for money. Hence, she tried to suppress her anger.

Steven let out a coldugh. "You''ve always been like this. Whenever I refuse to give you what you want, you start making excuses."

And in the end, it always came back to the same thing-her using him of being unfilial.

"No matter what, you always manage to get your way in the end." Steven finally understood how Chloe had been manipting him all along. His eyes darkened with bitterness.

For the first time, he regretted his choices. When he thought about it, life had been much easier with Annalise. At least she was frugal.

Back then, Chloe tried to be more mindful of spending, just so Annalise wouldn''t use too much money. Now, Jessica spent money recklessly, and Chloe had followed suit with no restraint at all.

    Steven felt utterly exhausted.

Chloe, who was growing impatient, urged, "Steven, are you buying it for me or not? At least give me an answer."

He didn''t want to drag this conversation out any longer. He was willing to spend the money if it meant ending this discussion quickly. Right now, all he wanted was a moment of peace.

"What kind of jewelry do you want?" he asked tly.

Upon hearing this, Chloe immediately sat closer to him, hesitating for a moment before saying, "My friends have been talking about the imperial green jadeite at the exhibition. The color is a stunning, vibrant green.

"Everyone loves it. However, it''s quite costly. A full set would cost at least a billion dors." The more she spoke, the weaker her voice became.

Steven stared at Chloe in disbelief, expecting her request to be for a few hundred thousand dors. But instead, she was asking for something worth billions.

It was no wonder Chloe had said she couldn''t afford it. The price was clearly beyond what she could manage.

Chloe shifted ufortably, then said, "I know the price is outrageous, but I promise you as long as you buy me this jewelry, I''ll never ask for any other jewelry for the rest of my life!"

Suddenly, Steven realized that this wasn''t the first time Chloe had made such a promise. He couldn''t help butugh bitterly.

After a long pause, he asked, "What''s gotten into you? Why do you want this so badly all of a sudden?"

"Because my friends all want it," Chloe replied, offering a quick exnation: "And they''re nning to buy it, too. I figured that since there''s only one set... if I''m willing to pay for it first, I''ll be the one to get it

    Steven didn''t respond immediately.

    There were plenty of people

wealthier than him in the city. None of their mothers were buying jewelry like this, so what was Chloe trying to prove? Was he supposed to show everyone that he had grown so wealthy that he could casually

    spend billions of dors?

Steven didn''t want to lose his temper; he knew it would be futile as Chloe wouldn''t

    listen anyway.

He said calmly, "I understand you

have your preferences, but I need to

tell you something. Ever since I divorced Annalise and got together with Jessica, she has spent everyst cent of my savings. If you really want it, I can still get it for you."

Chloe''s face brightened, her smile spreading uncontrobly. "Go and buy it!"

She had always known that Steven cared about her the most!

Steven sighed and continued, "But after buying it, thepany''s cash flow might be in trouble and could go bankrupt any time. That means I might not be able to send you the same amount of living expenses every month."

Leaning back and crossing his legs, Steven looked up at Chloe, his voice steady. "So, you''ll need to make

    the decision."

Once thepany went bankrupt, her life would be much harder. Chloe considered it for a moment before saying, "Maybe it''s better not to buy it, then."
