Vol.0 Ch.116 The Elixir Isn’t Ready!


    <span ss="editText">It''s a beautiful day as the sun already moved past high noon on the busy city of Tairal.


    <span ss="editText">It has been almost a week since Wina took the contract from Duke ric when she was walking down an alley near the alchemist<span ss="aiText">''s guild. She had <span ss="editText">used some of the gold to pay her own personal alchemist to make a maternal elixir.

    <span ss="aiText">Wina hadn''t heard from Lucas in a couple <span ss="editText">of <span ss="aiText">days and she was starting to panic. <span ss="editText">So, she needed to visit him<span ss="aiText"> soon.


    <span ss="aiText">She finally made it to the guild and headed straight for Lucas''s room.


    <span ss="editText">She listen closely to the door in order<span ss="aiText"> to hear if <span ss="editText">anyone else was in hisboratory. After listening for a minute she<span ss="aiText"> hear<span ss="editText">d<span ss="aiText"> someone <span ss="editText">inside<span ss="aiText"> the room<span ss="editText">. She did her secret<span ss="aiText"> knock on the door and waited for him to open up.

    <span ss="editText">"You''re early? I told you I would send word when the elixir is<span ss="aiText"> ready." <span ss="editText">Lucas<span ss="aiText"> replied as he opened the door<span ss="editText"> slightly.


    <span ss="editText">"There''s been a change of ns. The royal family is hiring right now. And I can''t be the<span ss="aiText"> on<span ss="editText">e<span ss="aiText"> to<span ss="editText"> tell the duke that<span ss="aiText"> I lied about being able to make <span ss="editText">it inside the pce, so I need you to pick up the pace."


    <span ss="editText">"But it''s too soon for the elixir! It needs more time before<span ss="aiText"> it''s ready!"

    <span ss="aiText">"Yeah. And that''s assuming everything goes smoothly," Lucas added.


    <span ss="aiText">Wina looked at the bowl of liquid and noticed a <span ss="editText">misting from it.


    <span ss="editText">"What would be th<span ss="aiText">e <span ss="editText">r<span ss="aiText">is<span ss="editText">k of taking the elixir too early<span ss="aiText">?"


    <span ss="aiText">Lucas looked at her in surprise, "Well<span ss="editText">? The issues are either nothing happens at all, or some unknown<span ss="aiText"> sid<span ss="editText">e effect<span ss="aiText"> takes ce. <span ss="editText">An<span ss="userText">d if by some chance it works as intended. You don''t want to eat anything for the next twelve hours because the elixir could get activated by another ingredient and change the elixir''s properties<span ss="aiText"> into a different <span ss="editText">unknown potion<span ss="aiText">."


    <span ss="aiText">"So there''s no other way?" Wina asked with a frown.


    <span ss="aiText">"No<span ss="editText">,<span ss="aiText">" Lucas said with a sad tone in his voice.


    <span ss="aiText">"<span ss="editText">I got to risk it, Lucas<span ss="aiText">. I can''t let th<span ss="editText">is chance slip, it''s the easiest way for me to enter the pce. I just need to not eat anything for twelve hours right?"


    <span ss="editText">"You took on a contract that failure isn''t an option, huh?<span ss="aiText">" Lucas responded sternly.


    <span ss="aiText">Wina sighed, "<span ss="editText">Yeah, the risk is worth it. So <span ss="userText">give me what you got. I only have an hour before they close the gates to the pce<span ss="aiText">."


    <span ss="aiText">Lucas handed her the bowl of liquid and Wina took it.


    <span ss="aiText">"<span ss="editText">Down the whole thing in one go, Wina<span ss="aiText">," Lucas instructed.


    <span ss="aiText">"Alright. How long do<span ss="editText">es it take before I see any results<span ss="aiText">?"


    <span ss="aiText">Lucas shrugged, "All the ingredients should be active within twenty minutes. If you drink it right now then you might start seeing effects <span ss="editText">as you walk through the street<span ss="aiText">s."


    <span ss="aiText">Wina gulped<span ss="editText"> as she looked at the red liquid<span ss="aiText">.


    <span ss="aiText">"<span ss="userText">Alright, here goes noth<span ss="editText">ing<span ss="aiText">! Let''s go!" Wina said and downed the entire bowl of the elixir in one gulp.


    <span ss="editText">As the red liquid coated her<span ss="aiText"> throat and entered her body she felt a slight difort <span ss="editText">centered<span ss="aiText"> around her stomach.


    <span ss="aiText">"Geez... I feel like I''m going to throw up..." Wina said with a grimace on her face, "Okay, I think I can keep this down..."


    <span ss="editText">"Well the best of luck to you, Wina,"<span ss="aiText"> Lucas said.


    <span ss="aiText">Wina nodded, "Thanks, Lucas. I''<span ss="editText">ll see you around<span ss="aiText">."


    <span ss="editText">She then turned to leave hisboratory.

    <span ss="aiText">After being escorted to the royal maid''s office Wina was met by <span ss="editText">five other applicants looking to be<span ss="aiText"> chosen as one of the <span ss="editText">wet nurses and <span ss="aiText">nanny for Prince Quinus.

    <span ss="aiText">"So tell us about yourself, please<span ss="editText">,<span ss="aiText">" Rose said as she directed the first question at the first candidate. "What is your name and why should we choose you?"


    <span ss="aiText">All the candidates began to introduce themselves. But Wina was not interested in any of them. She just wanted to make sure that none of them were a threat<span ss="editText"> to win the job. So, she came up with a nonlethal solution.


    <span ss="editText">''I have some of Lucas''s <span ss="userText">potions and poisons<span ss="aiText"> hidden away.'' Wina thought to herself. ''If I use a small dose of it, I could <span ss="editText">make<span ss="aiText"> everyone here <span ss="editText">sick <span ss="aiText">without anyone realizing what happened.<span ss="editText">.. Huh? Crap! Rose asked for my name.<span ss="aiText">''


    <span ss="aiText">"<span ss="editText">My name is Wina Daz,"<span ss="aiText"> Wina said as she bowed her head.


    <span ss="aiText">Rose looked at Wina and smiled.

    <span ss="aiText">"Thank you, I will look them over. Now please join the others in the sitting room while I make <span ss="editText">sure everything is in order<span ss="aiText">," Rose said as she rose from her seat.

    <span ss="aiText">Wina sat there thinking for a moment before she thought of other options just in case things go belly up. When...


    <span ss="aiText">"Excuse me miss?" One of the applicants called out to Wina.

    <span ss="aiText">The one named Amber seemed like she knew exactly what she was doing and would most likely be hired by Rose<span ss="editText"> if Wina doesn''t do<span ss="aiText"> anything.


    <span ss="aiText">"<span ss="editText">Well, Amber. I can see why you should be<span ss="aiText"> hired. You seem to be the type of person that can handle a baby. I hope that you''ll treat Prince Quinus well," Wina said as she smiled at Amber.

    Wina had already poisoned her drink when she was being challenged earlier, so she didn''t need to worry about her in a few minutes.


    <span ss="editText">As the women waited for Rose<span ss="aiText"> to return from her <span ss="editText">chambe<span ss="aiText">r, Wina kept her eye on them and tried to gather information.
