Sunset was approaching. Myuryuri was "hanging" in the air above the fortress courtyard and did not attack. It was restoring energy with his blue-green "eye" and waiting for the smoke to clear. This was it mistake.
A large blue energy ball with some kind of glowing object inside flew out of the smoke cloud. The blue "eyes" behind Myuryuri emitted beams from their pupils, but they were so weak that they only destroyed the energy shell itself.
The object inside the ball turned out to be Itinite''s pot. It was already charged and glowing from the blue energy that was filling it.
Myuryuri didn''t expect this. A powerful beam of blue light hit its own barrier.
"How could he do that?" the horned mammoth head was shocked. "He hid his most powerful skill in a simple ball of energy, and I didn''t notice. Could he really fight me?"
Myuryuri realized that he had greatly underestimated his opponent. It barrier shrank slightly under the onslaught of the thick blue energy beam, and then began to flicker.
“Is it possible that now my barrier, which cannot be destroyed, will burst? It''s unlikely that he has accumulated so much energy, but it''s better to believe it."
The blue-green "eye" dimmed, but a yellow one activated in its place. The energy circle changed color again. Clots of yellow energy formed within the barrier. They disappeared shortly after they appeared, but stopped the enemy''s skills.
The barrier stopped flickering, and then suddenly increased in size and threw the pot back...
The cloud of smoke instantly blew away, and the pot dissolved into thin air. Itinit saw Myuryuri inside a huge blue energy "eye" with a glowing pupil.
"It seems that this is his most powerful ability," Itinit only now realized how powerful an opponent he was fighting. "It turned own bubble into an ''eye'' and can now control the beam using the signal from the antennas."
The blue aura that surrounded Myuryuri''s horns and tusks grew larger and reached the ''pupil'', a bright clot of energy in the middle of the barrier, from where a very thick beam then shot out...
… Itinit hid behind the remains of a wooden wall that had not burned due to the high humidity. The guy no longer had an aura. All his energy had gone into filling the pot.
The air began to vibrate and whistle. A few steps from Itinit, a beam of blue light as wide as a window frame flashed past and rushed toward the slope of the crater. Itinit felt a powerful influx of energy that fed the space around him. This, oddly enough, helped him restore his aura and jump back.
But then it got worse. Itinit felt anxiety mixed with fear. It was a feeling he had never experienced before.
The area around him was engulfed in darkness, which suddenly appeared and just as suddenly was replaced by a cave full of glowing energy mushrooms of different colors.
Near the wall where there were no mushrooms, a mammoth head with horns and tusks was flying inside a round blue energy barrier. It looked at the entrance from the cave, from where a bright white light was coming.
"The creator does not come," Itinit heard Myuryuri''s voice in his head. "She promised, but she does not come. Maybe she will come tomorrow?"
Myuryuri flew to the entrance to look outside the cave, but one of the blue mushrooms got in it way: it released its cap, and it turned into a barrier.
"Again, I could not get out of here," Myuryuri''s voice rang out. "How do I find the creator? I can''t leave here.”
A clot of blue energy appeared near Myuryuri, which began to take on a round shape, but soon disappeared.
"I can''t even concentrate energy," the voice in Itinit''s head continued. "If I could, I would break through this barrier and escape from here, and then find the creator."
Myuryuri didn''t notice Itinit. Moreover, he even passed through it once, after which Itinit realized that he was in the memories of this strange creature.
The white light in the entrance hole changed to orange, and then disappeared altogether. Night came. The cave was illuminated only by mushrooms. Itinit approached the barrier, passed through it, but ended up in the same cave, only this time Myuryuri was not alone there. Next to him stood a girl in a purple dress and a hat with black horns.
"This is Sanachan," Itinit recognized the mushroom spirit and almost cried. "She came to her character."
But Sanachan did not notice Itinit. She stood in front of Myuryuri and looked at the floor.
“Sorry, Myuryuri, for not coming to you,” the spirit of the mushrooms said. "It must have been a long time.”
“More than two thousand days have passed,” the mammoth’s head answered. “I counted how many times the light appears in the hole and how many times it disappears.”
“Yes? I didn''t count. I told you that I can''t come to you often. My horns emit a very powerful signal. It can be felt even on the mainland. That''s why I have to live in a special place that is very far from the rest of the world.”
“Why don’t you take me with you? I asked you to...”
Sanachan looked at Myuryuri.
“We can’t be together,” the spirit of the mushrooms said. “Because of my signal, I can attract someone. There are many dangerous creatures in the world that you don''t even know about. But they exist. If they sense where I am, they can come for me. That''s why you can''t be with me.”
“Creator,” Myuryuri said. “I will protect you. I will become the strongest, and then we can be together.”
“It''s not that simple, Myuryuri. But don''t worry. It was not in vain that I was gone for so long. I created an island in the sea where you can live with the mushrooms.”
“But mushrooms will not replace you for me, creator. They''re not you.”
“I created them with my thoughts, just like you. They are my characters in a way, even though they can''t speak or think.”
Sanachan turned away, and then walked through the energy barrier that blocked the entrance to the cave. The barrier disappeared, after which the spirit of the mushrooms turned to its character and looked at him.
Myuryuri flew up to the creator and saw a conical mountain floating on a gray-blue sea.
“This is your home now,” Sanachan said. “It is very large. I hope you will not be lonely in it.”
“I will become stronger and be able to protect you, creator,” Myuryuri promised. “Then we will live there together.”Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
The cave and the mountain in the sea were hidden by darkness, and soon a stream of blue energy vibrated in front of Itinit again, breaking through the slope of the crater and going somewhere further.
Itinit jumped back, but then heard a vibration behind him...
The sound belonged to two blue beams that Itinit had not noticed in time. They were already a few steps away from the guy and were actively drilling the ground.
Itinit realized that he was surrounded and there was no point in resisting. Suddenly, his hand itself pulled out an oblong black object from his inventory, the same robot handle with which he had recently walked through the forest on the Southern Continent.
The handle took over the energy from the aura and turned into a sword, which stopped the beam.
"I don''t need to battle anymore," Itinit thought. "I''ve done enough for her to come."
But the hand with the "sword" for some reason continued to resist, and even deflected the beam back to the "eye". Other beams were coming from the side, and it was impossible to dodge them, because they were too long.
The second hand also did not obey its owner and released a ball with a clot of purple energy to meet the enemy''s skills.
One of the beams pierced the shell of the ball and released a clot of energy, causing Itinite''s aura to turn purple, and then a powerful stream of wind pushed him upwards...
Itinit looked down and noticed how the beams on the ground almost connected, and realized how lucky he was, although he soon became convinced of the opposite.
Myuryuri, inside a huge energy "eye", "hung" in the air above the fortress''s courtyard, and behind it, an energy circle with smaller, multi-colored "eyes" shone.
"This is the end after all," Itinit sighed. "There is no point in dragging out this battle any longer."
Itinit looked at the sky, which had become almost dark. The sun had finally disappeared behind the slope of the crater, and the stars did not appear from behind the clouds:
"If she does not come, I will not see the sun anymore. When the purple aura disappears, I will fall. Forgive me, Noru, Kimchan. You will have to live without me. It is good that you have Noruluya."
But the purple aura not only did not let the guy go, but also allowed him to slowly move through the air above the fortress. The pupil on Myuryuri''s barrier moved after the enemy, but could not detect Itinit due to the distance and darkness. At the same time, the creature itself saw something purple in the sky, but could not convey it to its "eyes".
“It’s getting too dark,” Myuryuri mentally noted. "My barriers can''t see him without a light source, but I can see him. But that''s okay. I know how my skills work."
The "eye barrier" around Myuryuri changed color. It was now a huge white lantern that illuminated most of the crater. The "eyes" on the circle received the necessary amount of light and focused on the enemy.
Itinit realized that he was about to be cut by some beam, and decided to look at the dark sky one last time. But instead of stars, he saw bright flashes of light that appeared in different places and became larger.
"This is "Rain of Fire", Noruluya''s most powerful skill. It seems that Noru and Kimchan finally met. Only together can they do such a thing."
The sky burst into fireworks. At first, fiery comets simply exploded in the sky and sparks fell to the ground, and then a real "fire rain" began to fly.
Blue energy beams shot out of the "eyes", but instead of hitting the enemy, they hit the comets and exploded them...
Itinit watched as the clots of fire rushed past and understood that soon one of them would hit him.
But the "fire rain" stopped as suddenly as it began. Itinit noticed a small light in the middle of the crater, which went out.
"Noruluya," Itinit thought. "You were my first character. Thank you for supporting me even when you don''t have the energy yourself."
Of course, "Rain of Fire ", like any elemental skill, did not harm Myuryuri''s energy barriers, but it did buy Itinit some time.
... The scary electric penguin no longer haunted the boy''s dreams. Now he waited with anticipation for when he would fall asleep, because there was a whole world waiting for him there, so different from this one. He could go there after a hard day at school, where they forced him to learn incomprehensible symbols, and where he could accidentally hit him on the head with a chair.
Almost every night, the boy walked in the coniferous forest around the lake, played with glowing mushrooms and listened to the stories of the spirit in the hat with horns.
Over time, the boy began to consider this place his home. One day, he fell asleep and found himself in a forest on the shore of a lake, but the spirit of the mushrooms was no longer there. The multi-colored mushrooms no longer glowed. They had turned to stone.
Only one blue mushroom was still emitting a bright light. The boy approached it and pressed the cap with his hand. A screen with blue symbols appeared above the mushroom.
"If you feel bad, call me," the boy read.
... The purple aura around Itinit disappeared, and he began to fall down. But before he crashed to the ground, he stretched out his hand, and...
From the ground appeared that same blue mushroom, the last one that once upon a time had emitted light in a dream. Itinit''s hand fell on its cap, just like back then, in childhood.
The mushroom began to vibrate, and threw Itinit aside, after which he landed on his feet. Energy began to accumulate inside the stem, and the cap glowed brightly, and then went out.
Finally, the cap began to move and flew up together with small clots of blue energy, which scattered in different directions and began to slowly descend to the ground, like sparks from fireworks...
The stem began to grow and soon took the form of a humanoid creature in a dress, with arms and legs, but no head.
"She has come," Itinit could not tear his eyes away from the blue glowing silhouette. "I have waited so long for this. Finally, I will see her for real."
The silhouette turned into a girl in a purple dress, stockings and boots, who stood with her back to Itinit. She was missing a head, but not for long: the mushroom cap that flew up landed on her neck. Then the cap was pierced by black horns with blue energy veins, after which purple hair appeared under it. The image was complete.
“You called me?” the girl turned her head to Itinit.
The guy opened his mouth, but couldn''t say anything. All his feelings seemed to have stopped, and even thoughts almost didn''t appear in his brain.
“I know what’s happening here,” Sanachan said. “And I always knew. But I hoped that my character would be happy, because he has a home and creatures with whom he can be together. I''ll have to help it.”
A purple energy circle with an image of a mushroom inside appeared under the girl''s feet. Sanachan turned her head towards the wooden fortress, which was burning from the comets that had hit it, and noticed a white glowing ball among the fire and smoke:
"Myuryuri... I will not abandon you anymore."
The purple circle under Sanachan''s feet exploded, endowed her with an aura and lifted her above the island. A purple energy crossbow with a mushroom of the same color appeared in the spirit''s hands.
Sanachan aimed her weapon at the white glowing ball, pulled the mushroom stem with her hand like a bowstring, and then let go.
The stem hit the cap like a string and made it shoot.
Myuryuri noticed something flying at him, but it didn''t have time to react. The mushroom arrow hit the pink "eye" on the energy circle and exploded along with it.
Myuryuri turned to the circle behind it and saw an empty slot in place of the healing "eye".
“It has disappeared,” the head of the horned mammoth thought. "Now I won''t be able to restore the barriers. Could it really be her...?”
Myuryuri looked up and saw a girl in a dress and a hat with horns above it. She held a crossbow in one hand and pulled out a new mushroom arrow with the other.
"Creator," Myuryuri recognized the girl immediately. "Why did you destroy my healing barrier?"
"To help you," the spirit of mushrooms looked away. "I didn''t give you this island so you could release dangerous creatures and attack others. I gave you this island so you could have a home, and I populated it with creatures so you wouldn''t be lonely."
“But creator... Without you, I don’t need this island. Now I''m stronger. I can protect you if your signal attracts someone dangerous.”
“We''ll check that now.”
A mushroom arrow flew out from Sanachan''s crossbow. Myuryuri "responded" with three beams from his blue "eyes" and one from the pupil of his own "barrier eye", but they missed their target. The mushroom arrow hit the blue-green "eye" that was restoring energy.
Myuryuri aimed the beams at the creator, but she simply disappeared, and then appeared behind her. The mushroom arrow appeared in her crossbow again, but this time a purple circle appeared in front of her.
The arrow flew out of the crossbow, passed through the circle, and then multiplied: instead of one mushroom, there were five. They all flew into the cells of the energy circle, which was now quite close to them.
Only one "eye", the purple one managed to escape. The pupil in the "barrier eye" around Myuryuri himself stopped releasing the beam and moved to the back, noticed the enemy''s attack and managed to pass on the order to only one of his "subordinates”...
The purple "eye" dodged the mushroom arrow and flew through Sanachan in one motion.
A round hole formed in the girl''s stomach, through which the mushroom arrow flew, reached its opponent and exploded along with him.
"That''s something," Sanachan smiled. "But, unfortunately, it''s not enough.”
A pink energy mushroom appeared in the girl''s free hand. Sanachan brought it to her mouth, grabbed the cap with her teeth, and then tore it off. The mushroom exploded and released sparks of healing energy. The hole in her stomach filled with pink energy, causing her body to fully recover after a few moments.
“I don’t sleep so that others can sleep,” Sanachan extended her hand to Myuryuri. "But today will be different. We will sleep together."
