Chapter 202: Consequences of Poking Victorious Dragons I


    “Now, let’s talk about those ‘rumors’,” Jason said with a smile on his face despite his serious tone.


    “Okay, well, there have been rumors that a few teams have been looking to add to their ranks and a few teams who are seemingly showing an interest in making an offer for you this summer are Real Betis, FC Schalke, and Manchester United,” Adele began to exin what she had heard.


    “I don’t know about the first two teams, but Manchester United is supposedly looking for someone to fill in on the right wing after the underwhelming performances of Daniel James who they had brought in earlier this season to y on the right wing,”


    “Supposedly, they’re also looking at Jadon Sancho as an option, but we can never really tell,”


    “So far, I haven’t been contacted regarding any potential transfer deals away from Porto this season,” Adele exined on what she had heard.


    “You know we discussed earlier and you already said that you weren’treallylooking into a hurried transfer away from Porto this season, but would you like for me to reach out to Manchester United to see if they will be interested in acquiring your services this transfer season,” Adele asked Jason who was now deep in thought after hearing what she had to say.


    “… Manchester United, huh… I can’t say I’m not tempted,” Jason muttered, seemingly deep in thought as he looked upward at the ceiling.


    He was seriously considering the matter, after all, Manchester United was a team with a lot of history, and though they had fallen into a bit of a slump after Sir Alex Ferguson had retired, they were still a team thatmanded respect from a lot of teams and had quite a strong squad and were currently third in the Premier League which was supposedly the strongest professional league in the world. Joining them woulddefinitelybe a good move for his career at this point and it was a move that woulddefinitelyhelp him challenge himself and hopefully better his skills.


    As for joining Real Betis or FC Schalke, Jason wasn’treallyconsidering it, especially when neither of them would likely be ying any Champions League football next season which was something that was already guaranteed for him if he just stayed put in Porto.


    “Let’s wait… Offering myself up to them is like saying I want out of Porto as soon as possible, which is notreallythe case, I don’t mind staying here for the next season, especially now that we willdefinitelybe in the Champions League next season,”


    “Only if an offer is made would Iactuallyconsider making a move-out,” Jason finally said, having made up his mind.


    “Ok, good… I was already thinking that it would be a bit difficult for you to secure a transfer in this transfer window anyway, you know since most of the big clubs are already a bit tight for funds thanks to the effects of the Covid virus on the clubs profits,” Adele said with a thoughtful look.


    “Yeah, I heard about it, there have been a lot of clubs that have made pay cuts and all that stuff,”Jason added as he remembered all these things from his past life.


    “Exactly, so it may be a bit difficult for those bigger clubs to open up their purses toe after you, especially since you only have half a season of experience on the professional scene,”


    “Unfortunately, the smaller team that might be willing to make the risks either do not have enough in their purses either, and even if they did, their current standards can’t meet up to what you have here at Porto, soit’s highly likely that you’llhave to wait till next season for a transfer,”


    “Manchester United being interested in you is a surprise, but I think they’ll spend most of their efforts on acquiring Jadon Sancho instead, and he will cost them a pretty penny, so they’ll probably not have enough left to make a move for you as well if they managed to seed… all in all, you may have to stay put for now,” Adeleid out her own opinions on the matter.


    “Well, that was kind of the n before, so it doesn’t change much,” Jason said with a small smile as he had not been especially interested in moving away from Porto in theing transfer window from the start.


    Manchester United seemingly being interested was what had only managed to shake his decision, but unless an offer wasactuallymade, there wasn’treallyany reason for him to think too much about it, so he didn’treallycare about it anymore after hearing that it was just a rumor and not an actual offer.


    With their discussion about the important matters over, Jason and Adele settled into a morefortable discussion as they slowly ate up the rest of the food that they hadn’t finished before they began talking.

    The referee blew the whistle to kick off the match between Porto and Moreirense which was the second to thest game for Porto in the season.


    Despite them lifting the league title, they still had a few games to y before the season could be said to be over and this was one of those games.


    The Porto yers had entered this match with their morale high and happiness in their steps, but their opponents weren’t smiling and immediately put the pressure on them right on from the first minute.


    This did not allow Porto to get into afortable stride and they could only make hurried passes as the Moreirense team didn’t seem to want to give them any space to breathe.


    In a strange turn of events, the Moreirense continued pressing the Porto team, until Danilo Perreira made a mistake in the middle of the park and the ball was pounced upon by their rabid opponents who quickly bore down on Porto’s goal with surprising pace.


    Maneuvering around the Porto yers with clever passes, they kept moving the ball until it reached the Moreirense striker, Abreu who quickly sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the Porto goal with a powerful, low skidding drive.
