307 In the Past...


    As the taxi pulled over at the side road, Zhang Li Xue noticed that they were nearby a residential area. Her eyes swept around her surroundings and finally, she saw a road, heading to the shop lot area.


    A warm hand sped against hers.


    Zhang Li Xue raised her head and saw that Bai Qi was looking at her with a faint smile on his face.


    “Let’s go.”


    “Oh.”


    Zhang Li Xue was still looking at the shop lot area when she noticed that Bai Qi was taking her in a different direction. She looked at him in confusion and asked, “Isn’t the restaurant over there?”


    Bai Qi chuckled. “Well, I know a secret ce.” He then gave her a yful wink.


    As she was not familiar with this area, Zhang Li Xue decided to follow her boyfriend’s lead.


    Anyway, she trusted that Bai Qi was not going to sell her off or something.

    Holding hands, the two of them continued to walk around the residential area.


    Zhang Li Xue could not help but nce at Bai Qi a few times. She wondered if there would really be a restaurant around this area.


    A few years have passed since thest time Bai Qi returned to S Country. Perhaps, this ce had changed as well. Perhaps, the restaurant that he was looking for was no longer in operation. Perhaps he had remembered it wrongly.


    Zhang Li Xue wondered if she should take out her phone and check the GPS.


    However, it seemed that Bai Qi knew where they were going.


    Zhang Li Xue decided that she should put her trust in him.


    After walking around for less than five minutes, Bai Qi finally stopped on his track. “We’re here.”


    Zhang Li Xue followed his line of gaze and saw a two-story house converted into a restaurant. The signboard was huge. As she looked in that direction, Zhang Li Xue saw a couple walking out of the building, carrying a takeaway bag with the restaurant’s name on it.


    “There’s really a restaurant around here,” Zhang Li Xue muttered softly.


    His brow rise as he heard her words. “Are you doubting me?”


    Zhang Li Xue bit her lips, feeling a bit guilty. “This is a residential area. I just thought that it was strange that there would be a restaurant in this area,” she exined. “Anyway, it has been a few years since you came to this ce.”


    Bai Qi chuckled. He could not help but to pinch his girlfriend on the nose. “I found this ce by ident. In the beginning, I also thought that it was strange that there was going to be a restaurant in this area. But you can be assured that the food here is quite good. You should try their local dishes as well.”


    The two of them entered the building and were greeted by the server.


    Bai Qi led Zhang Li Xue to the second floor and chose a table next to the window.


    After choosing a few dishes, Bai Qi handed the menu card to the server and watched him walk away.


    Zhang Li Xue looked around the restaurant and thought that the original architecture of the house was still preserved. The interior design was beautiful.


    As they were waiting for their food to arrive, the two of them continued to chat about the restaurant’s unique design.


    ording to Bai Qi, he was walking on the street aimlessly when he stumbled into this restaurant. It was the smell of food that lured him to this ce.


    Bai Qi looked out the window before turning to his girlfriend again. “In the past, my family used to live around this area.” He stretched his hand and pointed in a direction. “Our house is in that direction.”


    Zhang Li Xue turned to look in that direction and saw that it was an area with big, luxury housing area.


    A faint smile curled on his lips, but looking at it made her heart ache. Zhang Li Xue could sense that his boyfriend was sad.


    “But, after my father’spany went down, the house was put into auction.” Bai Qi’s voice was soft but steady. “After that...” His fingers shifted and this time, Bai Qi was pointing in another direction.


    Zhang Li Xue followed his gaze and saw a few old and depted apartments in that area.


    “We have no other choice but to move into that area,” Bai Qi said. “We didn’t have much money on us and we could only rent an apartment.”


    Once upon a time, Bai Qi was a rich young master who never had to care much about money. Unfortunately, something happened to his family and he lost everything.


    He has been living in a big mansion for years. Suddenly, he had to move to a tiny apartment. How did he survive all those years?


    Zhang Li Xue’s heart was hurting.


    She wished that she could go back in time and find the young Bai Qi so that she could give him a hug.


    She wanted to help him with whatever that she can. Even if she could not help him, she wanted to tell the young Bai Qi that everything will be alright. He just needed to hold on for a few years. Then, he would grow up to be someone great.


    Bai Qi naturally noticed the way his girlfriend was looking at him. A helpless sigh escaped him. He held her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “I’m fine.”


    She stood up and walked around the table. Zhang Li Xue sat down next to Bai Qi and wrapped her arms around his waist. Her head rested on his chest. Zhang Li Xue wanted to say a fewforting words to him, but she did not know what she should say at this time.


    “Li Xue,” Bai Qi called her name softly.


    “Un.” She raised her head and met his gaze.


    “I want to visit my family’s tomb while I am here,” Bai Qi said. “On that day, will youe with me?”


    The girl did not hesitate to nod and agree. “Bai Qi, I will apany you wherever you want to go.”
