Chapter 781: This Is The Last Time That I Will Trust You

Hn Xiuse nodded her head. “It’s true! I don’t know anything!”
Hn Fangnian did not say anything. He simply stared at her quietly. It was a long while before he spoke. “This is thest time that I will trust you, Xiuxiu.”
Panic spiked in Hn Xiuse’s heart. “Brother...”
Hn Fangnian wrenched his hand out of Hn Xiuse’s grip and strode off.
Anxiety continued to drum in Hn Xiuse as she watched his back.
...
Hn Fangnian found Yue Tingfeng. “There’s nothing for you at this dinner. You better take Auntie and leave.”
Yue Tingfeng swirled the champagne flute he held. “Didn’t you ask us toe?” he said. “Why should I leave when I’m already here?”
Hn Fangnian grew more anxious. “You... Tingfeng, take them and leave. There’s no need for you to be in this sort of dinner, anyway.”
Hn Fangnian did not know what his mother was plotting. He could not say anything even if he knew.
It did not matter how his mother turned out—she was his mother.
His mother could do whatever she pleased, but he still needed to help her to keep everything a secret.
Yue Tingfeng stared into Hn Fangnian’s eyes. “You’re so eager to shoo me away. Don’t tell me... something’s going to happen tonight?”
Hn Fangnian shook his head. “No... no...”
Yue Tingfeng smiled. “Since nothing’s going to happen... then there’s no need for us to leave. If something’s going to happen, then we definitely can’t leave.”
He put the champagne flute down and walked towards Yan Qingsi and Mrs. Yue.
If he thought about it from Hn Fangnian’s perspective, something fishy was definitely going to happen at this dinner. Maybe it was something specially directed towards them. However, since they were already here, prepared to wreck this dinner, they could not let this opportunity go to waste!
Mrs. Yue pointed at a ne embedded with 108 emerald stones on the auction list. “Do you like it?” she asked Yan Qingsi. “I think it looks good. I’ll bid it for you...”
Yan Qingsi smiled. “Auntie, this will look good on you,” she said.
“Really?”
“Mmhmm. It’ll look very pretty...”
“Then... I’ll bid for it. But... it’ll be terribly expensive. This ne has a history behind it, I think.”
“No need to hold back. We’re rich. Go ahead and bid. Just bid for whatever you like,” Yue Tingfeng said, pping his hand on Mrs. Yue’s shoulder.
Mrs. Yue raised her head and grinned. “You’re being so generous today, my son.”
“It’s just like you said. Since when have I not been generous?”
The three were discussing about what they should bid on when a terrible aura washed over them. “Mrs. Yue, I haven’t seen you in such a long time. How do you do?”
That familiar voice held a note of venom in it. The three raised their heads.
Yan Qingsi’s hands curled into fists. It was Ye Shaoguang’s oldest uncle—Ye Jiangong!
They had just created trouble for his son. Now they were seeing each other face-to-face.
The smile on Mrs. Yue’s face immediately retracted into something more subdued, demure. She straightened her posture. “It has been two years since west met. I’m doing very well. Thank you for asking.”
“And your son is truly one of the most outstanding characters among Luo city’s youths today. No one among the sons and grandsons in my family can hope topete with him.”
“You’re too kind, Mr. Ye,” Yue Tingfeng murmured.
Yan Qingsi thought that he was going to end there with that polite reply; she never expected the bomb that came afterward. “This isn’t because I’m really outstanding,” she heard him say. “It’s because... your sons and nephews are absolute sh*ts.”
Yan Qingsi had to bite on her tongue to keep herself fromughing.
Mrs. Yue emitted a haughty puff. “Tingfeng, what did you just say? How could you forget basic manners once you step outside?”
Mrs. Yue turned her head towards Mr. Ye. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ye,” she said. “My son is so rebellious and he doesn’t know anything. I’ll give him a proper scolding at home. He has no control over his tongue. Clearly, he doesn’t know that he can’t speak of the truth when he’s outside.”
