Cheng Wenru had no idea when this Nie family came along.
Someone was privately funding them.
But Cheng Wenru wasn’t a mindless and ignorant rich girl, either. She managed to figure out that the Cheng and Xu families were following in the footsteps of the Qin family.
There had never been a problem with those goods, but now they were being held in Continent F for no reason. How powerful was that person that they were able to disrupt matters in Continent F?
When Old Master Cheng was still around, the Cheng and Xu families were the most powerful in the field. With such unrest happening in both families, they were more vulnerable than ever.
There was an internal war within the Cheng family.
Cheng Wenru looked up at the Nie family members as she heard what was said.
She did not respond.
This agreement was obviously against the Cheng family and her corporation. If she really signed it, their authority was going to be threatened.
Cheng Wenru’s hands shook.
“Eldest Lady Cheng, if this goes on, you might not be able to get your goods back. This is worth billions of yuan, and many different families are involved. The longer you drag this out...” The Nie family tried to nudge her further.
“Eldest Lady, sign it first. Otherwise, the losses will only get greater.” Two of the stakeholders urged Cheng Wenru.
The stakeholders found this upsetting as well, but there was no better option.
As powerful as these four families might be in Beijing, they couldn’t do much with Continent M and Continent F.
Cheng Wenru was struggling internally. “Can you be sure that the batch of goods will arrive safely?”
“Eldest Lady, do you think our Nie family would be joking with you when ites to human lives?” They looked at her.
Cheng Wenru nodded and then leaned back in her seat as she exhaled.
Not considering the rest of the Cheng family’s involvement, she and Cheng Juan both put in a lot of effort into thispany. In the beginning, most of the strategic nning aspects were taught to her by Cheng Juan.
This current batch of goodsprised lots of medical and research apparatus.
Tens of thousands of patients in the country needed these for survival. Cheng Wenru’s heart was bleeding at the thought of it.
“I can agree to everything else, but not the thing about my Third Bro’s visit.” Cheng Wenru looked up at them. “You should know his expectations and requests.”
There was no choice!
The Cheng family was in control of the whole country’s medical organizations. They had to bow down to the Nie family for this batch of goods!
Cheng Wenru thought about a lot. Perhaps the word would keep going around that the Cheng family couldn’t do without Old Master Cheng, and soon, they would be reced by some other family just like the Qin family had been.
She knew that this might just be the beginning.
She couldpromise on all other matters, but when it came to Cheng Juan, she wouldn’t give an inch.
Upon hearing that, the Nie family members tilted their chins up mockingly. “Eldest Lady, we’ve long heard that you siblings are very close, and it sure seems like it’s true. But we’re just getting Cheng Juan to take a look at our Master and to diagnose any problems. It’s such a small request, surely he wouldn’t reject it.”
Too many people in Beijing were waiting to see Cheng Juan’s downfall.
This additional request was just for the Nie family to have a look at the high and mighty Young Master bow down to them.
“Don’t go too far!” Cheng Wenru’s eyes turned cold.
“Eldest Lady, it seems like you aren’t keen on cooperating with us?” The Nie family did not seem flustered or worried at all.
“Cheng Wenru.” Cheng Raohan mmed the table and growled. “The Cheng family raised him for so many years. Can’t he even fulfill the small request of giving Master Nie a checkup?”
With that, he turned to face the Nie family and lowered his voice. “Mr. Nie, I will speak to him about this personally.”
“Impossible. The official seal is with me.” Cheng Wenru shook her head.
The Nie family member lost his smile. “It seems like Eldest Lady isn’t willing to cooperate with us. I guess you don’t want the goods from Continent F anymore, either. Also, Cheng Wenru, we’re just giving you face by calling you Eldest Lady. We’re also being nice for not capturing Cheng Juan and taking him directly to our Old Master. Do you think the Nie family really needs to politely invite Cheng Juan now?”
The moment they said that.
Cheng Wenru looked up at them.
From the moment the Nie family contacted her, Cheng Wenru already knew that they surely had a backer. She simply hadn’t figured out who.
“We’ll give you one more day, think about this carefully! Do you want to tell him on your own, or do we have to ‘invite’ him personally?” The Nie family took the agreement and left.
The door closed behind them.
And the atmosphere tensed further.
“Eldest Lady...” The Cheng family members and stakeholders looked at her.
Cheng Wenru raised her hand and shook her head. “Let me think about it.”
A whileter, she looked up at Cheng Raohan. “Since you and Third Bro have already fallen out with each other, don’t call him anymore!”
Cheng Raohan was shocked as he held his cell phone.
His expression then darkened. “Alright, then. Cheng Wenru, I’ll see how you sort this mess out!”
Cheng Raohan mmed the door and left.
“Secretary Li, what have you found about the Nie family backing?” Cheng Wenru leaned back in her seat and shut her eyes.
Secretary Li propped up her sses and said seriously, “I found that it’s one of the top five powers in Asia.”
Cheng Wenru’s heart got a little colder.
Even at their best, the Cheng family was never in the same league as the top five...
No wonder they could easily stop the Cheng family’s goods in Continent F.
...
The next day.
At the vi.
“Ran Ran, have you been well?” Cheng Wenru asked without much expression as she entered the living room. “Are you going to take over the Research Institute? Are Fang Zhenbo and the rest giving you pressure?”
With Elder Xu’s passing, nobody was taking control of the Research Institute.
He’d chosen Qin Ran before he passed on, but without his support now, her taking over the Institute...
