    What Shangguan Ning had just said, was too much information for Shangguan Zheng to process. He felt suffocated.


    The man in front of him was the heir of Family Jing, the new President of Jingsheng Enterprise – Jing Yichen!


    Since the end ofst year, this name had appeared in newspapers, on television and a lot of other media, numerous times, for all the right reasons. How could this be? He had turned out to be Shangguan Ning’s husband!


    Everything that had been happening with Shangguan Zheng’s family over thest few weeks, now madeplete sense. No wonder this man was so proud. After all, he was able to control almost everything. Be it the resorts at N City or the hospitals at A City. No wonder that Jing Yiran, whom no one dared to mess with, failed at his mission.


    Shangguan Zheng had been trying hard to get an appointment to meet with the new President of Jingsheng Enterprise. What he didn’t expect was that this is how he would meet him. That Shangguan Ning would be married to him. This President, who had hundreds of billions of yuan, owned so many properties, who was the heir to Jingsheng Enterprise, was his son-inw!


    This was simply amazing. Even God was on his side. He only wondered as to why did it always have to be Shangguan Ning who could help him whenever he needed to take his political aspirations further? Years ago, when he wanted to be deputy mayor, she had agreed to get engaged to the heir of the Xie family, who in return, funded his election campaign. Now that he had his eyes on the post of the mayor, she hade to his rescue again.


    As long as he revealed to the people that mattered, that Jing Yichen was his son-inw, nothing would stop him from bing the Mayor of A City!


    Shangguan Ning still didn’t understand what her father was here for. He wouldn’t stop smiling and she found his behaviour weird.


    In fact,her father looked absolutely abnormal at this moment.


    Under normal circumstances, her father wouldn’t let go of even one opportunity to shout at her. He would be upset with her for having married someone without letting him know, but Shangguan Zheng did no such thing. Instead of scolding his daughter, he seemed thrilled. She wondered if he had gonepletely crazy?


    Jing Yichen frowned. He wasn’t sure why was Shangguan Zheng even here.


    He thought that Shangguan Zheng hade here to demand an exnation for what had happened to his wife. Yichen had seen to it that none of the hospitals at A City would treat Yang Wenshu. Maybe Shanguan Zheng had realised the error of his wife’s ways and he hade here to beg for mercy, for his wife’s sake.


    It didn’t seem like that at this moment, though.


    Shangguan Zheng came back to his senses after a while. He said tenderly, “It’s good that you are married, Ning. Good. I’m happy. You are an adult now, and Jing... Yichen loves you so much that I am at peace. Alright, it is very sunny here. You’d better go inside now.”


    “Oh, as for your mo... your Aunt Yang, I came here to apologise to you. She doesn’t know anything. How dare she hurt you? I have scolded her. Her face is scarred too and she is in pain, but everyone gets what they deserve. Maybe she deserves this. You have done a great job!”


    Having said this, he patted Shangguan Ning’s back, just like a loving father would.


    Shangguan Ning couldn’t believe what had just happened, even after her father got into his car and drove away.


    What was going on here? Shangguan Zheng seemed to havepletely changed. She didn’t feel loved. Instead, she felt scared!


    He came to apologize for Yang Wenshu?


    He couldn’t havee to apologize for her even if the sun rose from the west!


    After observing this drama, Jing Yichen understood what Shangguan Zheng’s real motive was. His heart ached for Shangguan Ning even more, after he understood the situation. He wondered how much did Ning have to put up with, all these years, for having a father like Shangguan Zheng?


    He led his wife, who was still in shock, back into the car andforted her, “Mu Qing said that you should be away from the sun for a few days, to ensure a speedy recovery. Let’s go home.”


    Shangguan Ning still didn’t know what Shangguan Zheng’s purpose for visiting her was. All she knew was that his behaviour had been absolutely abnormal today.


    She was afraid that Shangguan Zheng would take advantage of Jing Yichen, so she said anxiously, “Yichen, no matter what hees to you for, you must ignore him. He can do anything for his selfish ambitions. You must be careful. You don’t need to meet him if he asks for you. Just let hime to me if he needs something. I know his ways and I’m aware of the kind of person he is. You needn’t worry about me getting trapped.”


    Shangguan Zheng knew her father too well. If something did not benefit him, in any way, he had no regard for it. She realised that she was of no use to her father, but Jing Yichen, the most powerful man in A City, was.


    Jing Yichen felt ted, seeing Shangguan Ning worry about him. With one hand on the steering wheel and the other running through her hair, he drove the car into thepound and said softly, “It is alright, I understand. Don’t worry.”


    She knew what her father was capable of, so she couldn’t help worrying about Jing Yichen. She feared that he would be taken advantage of, so she was even more stressed. She was like a bird that opened its wings to shield him from all the wrong. Jing Yichen had never felt like this before.


    Everyone took him to be cold and ruthless, incapable of having any feelings. Everyone woulde to him to find solutions to their problems, without worrying about how much they added to his stress.


    Only Shangguan Ning cared enough to want to protect him from those who may not have his best interests at heart.


    She had never thought about taking advantage of his contacts or his wealth.


    People approached him for whatever reasons, wanting to benefit from him in some way or the other. Few people cared about him, from their heart.


    He was lucky enough to have met Shangguan Ning, amongst the crowd. This kind of woman was worth caring for, his entire life.


    “Ning, I met your father today. I will take you to the Family Jing House in a couple of days, so that you can meet my family. The same rule applies here. If anyonees to you, you can ignore them. Leave them to me. You don’t know them, and you can easily be fooled by them.”


    With him by her side, Shangguan Ning felt less anxious and she smiled.


    She leaned her head against Jing Yichen’s shoulders. She felt so secure, as if his broad shoulders would keep her safe against all the hardships of life, and help her to live in peace.


    Jing Yichen had kept Shangguan Ningpany at the hospital for four days in a row. He didn’t leave the hospital until Mu Qing repeatedly assured him that Shangguan Ning’s face waspletely cured and needed no more medicine.


    He took Shangguan Ning to Family Jing that evening.


    Family Jing’s garden-like vi was situated halfway up a mountain. It was under 24 hour surveince. The advantage of living on a high-altitude terrain was that one had an unhindered view of the mountain slope. Before Jing Yichen’s car had even entered the gates of the Family Jing House, news of his arrival had already been reported to all staff.


    The Butler had already been waiting at the entrance, with an entourage of servants. When Jing Yichen’s car reached the gates, the Butler spotted Shangguan Ning sitting beside Elder Master.


    He understood that she must have been the Lady because of whom, Elder Master punched the Second Master. The brothers had had a tiff and at the end of it, Second Master wasn’t even in the condition to stand on his own two feet, without assistance.


    Since then, the Second Master had been grounded. He had been home for a month and a half.
